The onions are vegetables grown in a shorter season.

The bulbs are

air-dried after harvesting to prolong their shelf life. In temperate countries,
they're kept in a cellar. For long-term humid storage in the tropics, such as the
Philippines, they need well-ventilated conditions for short-term storage and
refrigeration. However, there are issues with the onion prices in the country. A
kilogram of onion is twice to three times more expensive than any type of meat
in the Philippines, and one of the reasons why it is expensive is the shortage in
supply. According to the Department of Agriculture (DA), they had already
warned that the supply was dwindling and would be insufficient to meet the
demand for onions. Basically, it affects farmers and consumers when supply
increases, prices rise, and demand falls. On the other hand, when prices fall,
supply tightens as demand increases. Also, climate change has been a concern,
along with inflation. The Philippines is particularly at risk from climate change
and increasing rainfall, which are disrupting crop growth due to its island
country status in the tropics.

Given that the rural population is increasing and the size of the farms is
decreasing, the small size of the land may contribute to this problem, explaining
why there is no room for growth. This may be mitigated by knowing the factors,
like zoning, and using them to address the issue. Zoning is the way in which a
local government regulates and develops the land it controls. In order to
balance the city by ensuring a good use of land and providing value for those
who own property, it is divided into several categories. It contributes to
protecting the local environment and maintaining the stability of property
values. Zoning prevents overcrowding, pollution, and other problems that may
arise if appropriate community planning is not in place. Its restrictions also
contribute to protecting the environment, like forests and other protected areas.
These sources could be developed or protected beyond their potential in the
absence of proper zoning legislation. This will help the developers of raw land
ensure that they use space effectively, balancing security considerations and
protecting natural resources at the same time.
