Expectations to the participants
We expect that you:
• Want to have more knowledge of the Public Procurement Act and the
Regulations so that your organisations operate within the confines of the
Law
• involve actively in the workshop discussions – this is an interactive
workshop
• ask for clarification, if required for: slides / cases / terms / concepts
• take notes to be used later as you embark on implementing the ACT.
• state when you find provisions that you anticipate to cause implementation
challenges

Strengthen the procurement professionalisation
The new Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act, which
took effect January 2018:
• provides for licensing of procurement practitioners in the public
sector practice
• Central government, State-owned enterprises, and local authorities
shall establish procurement management units (PMUs) to ensure that
decisions are free from undue influence.
