appearance, or certain interesting abilities such as making a beautiful sound. When

you commit to having a pet, you are automatically required to keep and care for it as
well as possible. Currently taking care of a pet is not difficult because there is now our
Pet-Shop Management System for a place for sale, grooming, daycare, and purchase
of pet supplies. Our system is a business engaged in the sale as well as services for pet
animals, such as dogs, cats, birds, snakes, lizards, rabbits, and other animals.
Currently caring for pets is not difficult because there is now a system that can help
the animal owner to find all the necessities that his pet needs including helping to do
the treatment.

1.2 Background of the Study

According to Buena et al (2022), to reduce administrative burden on office

staffs of the chosen pet shop, implementing an appointment through online means is
the most preferred way of clients. Online reservations give customers access from
anywhere at any time, which can make it more convenient for veterinary shop
employees and its clients. Majority of clients require an immediate appointment with
their veterinarians. Customers can easily book an appointment online and see their
appointment details on the same website. Customers will also be notified if their
appointment where close to date in order to remind them of their visit.
Services for pet grooming are crucial for any animal. Let professional
grooming services to take care of your pet's grooming needs if you are unable to
handle it yourself. Because they don't have to bother about dropping off or picking up
their pets later, an online web-based application wherein users can groom, shop for
accessories, schedule checkups and more services at a conventional pet shop are
available at the comfort of their homes. The researcher’s web-based Pet Shop
Management System: Converting a Pet Grooming and Clinic System into an All-in-
One have another advantage, the pet will get individualized attention from the
groomer, with no other pets around to distract them, the pet feels safer thanks to this
individualized care and more hygienic surroundings. The system also enables pet
businesses to manage their daily transactions online. The system will automate all pet
data, inventory, billing, services, and other processes. Purchase orders can be created
using automated purchasing capabilities and inventory data. As a result, this

management strategy is improved, offers the owners' pets love and quality, and is
more practical.

1.3 Hypothesis

H1: Implementing online/web services for the pet shop has a significance on how
it will provide usefulness, efficiency and effectiveness for pet owners that has a tight
schedule. The addition of the latest technologies, functionalities and services has a
significant effect in improving and increasing the overall efficiency of the system
when compared to its previous state. Increased customer engagements due to added
functionalities has a significant effect on how users perceive the new updates the
system has provided for them to use.
H0: Implementing online/web services for the pet shop has NO significance on
how it will provide usefulness, efficiency and effectiveness for pet owners that has a

1.4 Statement of the Problem

 Main Problem

- The main problem of the study is the lack of critical features such as the
announcement page, digital notification, and date scheduling. These
characteristics are required to increase customer engagement and
satisfaction. It has been difficult to effectively communicate updates,
specials, and new products to customers due to the lack of an
announcement page. As a result, customers are less aware, limiting
opportunities for upselling. It has been difficult to keep customers
informed about the status of their orders due to a lack of digital
notifications, resulting in poor customer experience.
 Sub Problem
- The traditional way of scheduling an appointment is too slow and time-

consuming.
- Email notification from the system to the user may fail or the receiver,
may receive it late.
- New products and services are not being advertised to customers.
- The system lacks mobile notification.

1.5 Objective of the Study

1.5.1 General Objectives

- The results might serve as a starting point for further research on the subject by
other researchers. This research may also help them explore and improve the
system in greater detail or come up with fresh concepts that could advance
understanding.

1.7 Scope and Delimitation

The study will evaluate the effectiveness of a pet shop system in converting it
into a pet grooming and clinic system with a much faster and more reliable scheduling
appointment that would take place at the Technological University of the Philippines –
Taguig, specifically with the program of Bachelor of Science in Information
Technology. The researchers consider that the sample size of responders, chosen
randomly from the participants who decided to participate in the study, may impact
how generalizable the results are to the total population of the course mentioned
above.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

2.1 LOCAL LITERATURE AND STUDIES

2.1.1 E-commerce implementation in supporting business services strategy

(case study at pet shop gifaro evidence) by Purba, J. T., & Widjaja, A. E

This study aims to highlight the value of information technology for all petshop business
divisions. Givaro Petshop is a company that sells goods for pet owners that need both pet care
services and supplies. The Givaro Petshop used to handle its goods inventory by hand. Givaro Petshop
needs an e-commerce website that may increase the efficiency of business procedures in order to grow
their company. This website is being developed using the Rapid Application Development
Prototyping approach and the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The study's findings were
turned into an e-commerce website that can be used to track product inventories, keep track of sales
transactions, take orders for pet care services, manage various reports, and notify the public. The
researcher’s study provides a good tracking customer transaction to show the efficiency of the web-
based system while the Purba, J. T., & Widjaja, A. E. (2020, June) study highlights their capability in
both pet care services and supplies. Both studies can be similar to each other as they can both take
orders for pet services, track customers transaction and manage various reports.

2.1.2 Cityvets Animal Clinic Management System by Bartolome, J. J. D.

According to Bartolome et al.(2021), Manual sales systems are time-consuming, dull, involve
a lot of administrative labor, handle information slowly, are difficult to understand, and are difficult to
locate records through paperwork. Many businesses or clinics have implemented automated solutions
to combat these challenges. Use of clinic management, point of sale, and inventory through web-
based solutions. Each of these systems performs a specific task, such as tracking or keeping track of
an entity's supply or patients' medical information, or calculating sales. In this study, the authors
proposed a web-based application system where customer and employees monitor transactions as the
previous system used were manually entering data on index cards or paper-based materials. This
enables them to keep records for longer times and monitor the development of their company. This
research suggest that using web-based solutions in point of sale, inventory and appointments enables
the pet shop records to be maintainable and easily accessible. This research tackles some of our
functional requirements such as online appointments, inventory management and also point of sale in
which can be accessed by both customers and employees.

Q. M., & Salibay, H., & Javillio, C. M., Evangilista,& K. J., & Carlos, J., &
Kusin, M

Buena et al.(2022) states that to reduce administrative burden on office staffs of the chosen
pet shop, implementing an appointment through online means is the most preferred way of clients.
Online reservations give customers access from anywhere at any time, which can make it more
convenient for veterinary shop employees and its clients. Majority of clients require an immediate
appointment with their veterinarians. Customers can easily book an appointment online and see their
appointment details on the same website. Customers will also be notified if their appointment where
close to date in order to remind them of their visit. The capstone titled “Online Veterinary Scheduling
and Information Management System” talks about one of our functional requirements which is
booking appointments online. They found out that majority of the shop’s customers/patients prefer to
book their appointments online than having to wait on the counter to have an appointment.

2.1.4 Integrated, Sales and Inventory Management System by C. Joseph

Brylle, & L. Nikko Andrew, & L. Hyla kay, & R. Ralph Jan, & S. Bernil
Jane

This project's goal was to pinpoint and address issues in managing sales and monitoring
inventory. Businesses in all sectors faced numerous issues with their operational procedures.
International Trading and Aquatic Resources, Inc. Is a business that promotes aquatic resources both
internationally and locally in the Philippines. The business has issues with providing high-quality
service, developing successful marketing tactics, communication, and security. The proponents'
investigation revealed problems that might restrict the quick rise of income and slow down firm
operations. They discovered that the company's existing issues were resolved by the integrated sales
and inventory management system. They talked about the system's price, its functionality, and its
potential benefits. “Integrated, Sales and Inventory Management System” can help with tracking
transactions thru logs and making sure the inventory audit was managed efficiently with minimal to
no errors.

by C. Perocho, L. ., A. Amarille, K. C., G. Billones, J. C., R. Seblos, C., F.
Bustilla, N., & R. Asiñero, J.

Perocho et al. (2010) The study tried to foster a system for the veterinary clinic to get
and deal with its data. The system is designed for simple and speedy recovery of records.
Additionally, it is designed for the pet proprietor to screen charging status and to make a
meeting with the veterinarian. The Web-based Integrated Information System for Phoenix
Veterinary Clinic productively functions as designed. The system is a significant instrument
to the clinic since it gives the clinic solid and most got data protection. With the created
system, the clinic can everyday work all the more productively as it oversees information
electronically. Information can without much of a stretch be stored and recovered. The system
is designed for simple and fast recovery of records. Likewise, it is designed for the pet
proprietor to screen charging status and to make a meeting with the veterinarian. Web-Based
Integrated Information System of Phoenix Veterinary Clinic is a study that may assist in
determining the feasibility and significance of a web-based veterinary clinic in the
Philippines. It also determines the required functionalities necessary for an online vet clinic.

2.1.6 Feasibility Study Pet Shop by Prkdlyng

Prkdlyng (2017) As per the report investigations of Future Market Experiences or

FMI pet care market is fundamentally determined by the expanding trends of pet
acculturation and expanding reception of private-name brands in country. Philippines is on
sixth spot overall for most populace of canines and remembered for top 50 for felines. The
performance of pet care in 2015 was like 2014. Volume and worth development were
somewhat quicker in 2015 than in 2014. This is characteristic of the better ability by Filipinos
to give legitimate care to their pets with the greater part favoring affordable choices. As well
as the enhancements in the nation's economy, the consistent efforts of different players to
disperse information about the wholesome prerequisites of pets and different parts of giving
appropriate pet care helped the performance of pet care in 2015. Pet proprietors are presently
more leaned towards additional nutritious, sound and natural food sources for their pets. The
study Feasibility Study Pet Shop is a study that aims to clarify the significance and feasibility
of an online petshop. It dictates the growth of pet ownership in the Philippines and the rise in

demand for online petshops due to isolation caused by Covid-19.

2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES & LITERATURE

2.2.1 Online Pets Shop Management System by Sheela, K. S., & Vijayalakshmi,
S., & Swatheka, R., & Dharshana, T.

According to Sheela, K. S., Vijayalakshmi, S., Swatheka, R., & Dharshana, T. (2022),
a petshop is a location where pet supplies are sold, groomed, daycared, and cared for. The
authors of this study recruited 50 respondents from Petshop. Because there is still little media
promotion, it can be challenging for customers to learn about Petshop and the existence of the
closest store. An websitepetty Pet is created to address the issue. In order to make it simpler
for pet owners to get information about petshops, this website serves as a promotional hub for
all pet shops. In the future, it will be developed to be used throughout India. This website
may be advantageous because it may encourage a desire to maintain pets. A number of
actions were conducted during the creation process, including watching what happened in 50
pet shops, speaking with pet shops, and visiting 40 consumers to learn about any hurdles. The
Petty Pet website offers three different service options: Pet's Shopping, which lets consumers
shop; Petty Pet Grooming, which lets them perform grooming; and Petty Pet Hotel, which
lets customers board their pets. This website's main objective is to make it simpler for pet
store patrons and owners to communicate in locations where pet care, lodging, and shopping
services are offered without restriction as to time or place. The Online Pets Shop
Management System focuses on addressing the issue about grooming and services that’s why
it was connected to the studies. Both are making sure that the process in conducting a better
quality would satisfy the customer. From managing the products to showing transparency in
tracking every item they would purchase. It would advantage to customers to have an easy
access to what they are buying or purchasing.

purchase these things in accordance with classes. PSMS can handle item data, including
creating pet things and subtleties. Several factors and considerations, such as their health,
food, and nutrition as well as maintaining their happiness and providing people with a
positive environment to live in, are important for the product industry. The way that pets and
products are administered helps with these issues because it provides the animal people with
their daily necessities as well as medical treatment. Strong element extraction and learning
abilities are present. It has been used in many different fields because of its various
advantages. Customers can make their lives easier by browsing websites. Both systems work
to enhance the factors that maintain and give customers a better method to buy services in the
pet shop management system since it affects everything, including food and health. The two
systems also acknowledge the significance of addressing concerns related to everyday
necessities and animal medical care.

2.2.3. Implementation Of Web-Based Animal Supplement and Food Sales

System System by Noviantara, & Ananda Abithama, & Ikrimach, S.Kom.,
M.Cs

Established in 2015, Palagan Petshop is a business that sells goods and equipment for pets. At
the moment, the management and sales transaction processes at Palagan Petshop are still done
manually by using books and then entering the data into Microsoft Office Excel, which makes data
searching time-consuming and also increases the risk of data loss. This study's objective is to develop
a web-based petshop sales system for the online ordering of pet food and supplies using e-commerce
features and payment options through a payment gateway. To allow clients to purchase petshop
merchandise without having to physically visit the business. This study's research method
incorporates a number of techniques designed to make analysis easier, including observation,
interviews, and literature review. The procedure of selling animal feed and equipment online can be
facilitated by a web-based application for pet supplies and food that has been developed. Payments are
subsequently made via a payment gateway based on sales of the available products. To make
managing computerized sales data easier, the system may also generate reports on sales. The system
that the researchers are developing is related to the Noviantara, Ananda Abithama, Ikrimach, S.Kom.,
M.Cs (2022) study since both systems aim to accelerate the development of manually entering date
via web-based pet shops. Both studies admit enabling customers to buy services without having to
physically visit the store. This ensures that every consumer may access and select the products they
desire while minimizing the time required to learn about the store's availability.

2.2.4. Build A Web-based Sales App on Hokky Petshop by Yuliawan, I. M. K. D.

Pet food and accessories are sold at Hokky Petshop, a location of commerce. Hokky Petshop
can be found in Denpasar, Bali, at 12 Jalan Kebo Iwa Utara. Products are sold by Hokky Petshop in
the form of food and pet supplies. Current social media have been used for marketing thus far. The
issue is that the sales department struggles if the items that consumers are looking for are not located
since it must locate the quantity of inventory in the inventory book. The consumer must wait for five
(5) minutes as a result of this. Another issue is that because sales notes are frequently hidden, the sales
staff has trouble producing monthly reports. As a result, monthly records of the goods that are released
do not match sales data. The second issue is that, up until now, the data provided to the owners have
only included monthly sales figures; as a result, the owners must compare the amount of monthly
sales on their own and determine which food items are the most popular. An application was created
to sell food and pet supplies in order to address these issues at Hokky Petshop. Because the owner
may examine real-time sales reports, record sales transactions in the system, present month-to-month
sales comparisons, and learn which products are best sellers, the application is made available online.
According to the test results, store owners can utilize the created application to manage sales data and
product data. Also, store owners can build product sales reports, which can be used to look for
monthly sales data, and discover which products sell the most and the least. Shop owners can learn
how product sales from the prior month compare via comparison charts, notifications on remaining
stock, and product expiration dates. The Yuliawan, I. M. K. (2020), study's primary goal is to make
the business's current hassles lessened. Both studies acknowledged the need to solve the challenges by
putting together a system in order to provide customers with an easier way to buy. Yuliawan, I. M. K.
(2020) suggests that the best course of action is to develop an application, whereas the researcher's
study concentrates on developing a web-based pet store. These two studies can ensure that it can be
made available online so that the monthly reports and transaction records are presented accurately.

2.2.5. Veterinary Clinic Management System by Ainin Sofea, A.

According to Azhari(2021), A system called the Veterinary Clinic Management System

enables pet owners to see their animals' medical records, make online appointment requests, and get
appointment reminders. The employees at the veterinary clinic will have less work to do, which will
be especially helpful in managing the files that hold the information about the pet owners and their
pets. They will also be able to provide daily, weekly, or monthly clinic reports, report for clients (pet
owners and their animals) visiting clinics for clinic testimonials. The study “Veterinary Clinic
Management System” may help with online appointment requests and also track pet’s medical records
which is also one of our functional requirements.

Economy Taking an APP Platform Development Project by F. Jian

To enhance the service quality, client satisfaction, user experience, and competitiveness of the
pet industry, this article investigates the business strategies of the sector under the Internet
economy from the perspective of service design. This study elaborates the concept,
significance, and value of the Internet economy age based on its characteristics. It also covers
the development state of online pet transactions and the industry's development trend. An
online and offline mutually complimentary network platform is created by combining the
design of a pet APP. A full-service chain can be established, allowing pets to be incorporated
into the value form of daily life, by generating usage "scenarios" and creating a map of the
target users, as well as important touch points in the service process. The article “Research on
Pet Business Strategy and Service Design in Internet Economy Taking an APP Platform
Development Project as an Example” may help with one of the functional requirements

This study utilizes the quasi-experimental method under the quantitative research
design. According to Chiang (2015), the prefix quasi means “resembling.” Thus, quasi-
experimental research is research that resembles experimental research but is not true
experimental research. Because the independent variable is manipulated before the dependent
variable is measured, quasi-experimental research eliminates the directionality problem. But
because participants are not randomly assigned—making it likely that there are other
differences between conditions—quasi-experimental research does not eliminate the problem
of confounding variables. In terms of internal validity, therefore, quasi-experiments are
generally somewhere between correlational studies and true experiments.

3.2 RESPONDENTS

Respondents refers to individuals that is the focus of the study. The researchers chose a sample
of forty (40) BSIT 3rd year students to participate in this study.

The sample of this study was selected through non-probability/non-random sampling method.
Purposive sampling targets a particular group of people. When the desired population or the study is
rare or very difficult to locate and recruit for a study. The researchers used Purposive sampling
wherein the samples are selected based on the criteria/condition that they own a pet.

3.3 RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The researchers made use of survey questionnaires as a method of collecting data

from the respondents. This method of collecting date allows the researchers in a short period
of time obtain a significant amount of data from the population.
Survey questionnaire are a technique for gathering statistical information about the
