STEPS
1. Open the AED device by sliding the button to the right.

After the device opens, it will automatically perform ‘Self-Test’ for 5 seconds. The device
will then say “Unit OK”.

2. Follow further voice instructions. Remove the patient’s clothes and expose the bare
chest. Open the pads and peel off the cover. Place the pads on the patient’s chest exactly

as shown in the picture. Each pad is color-coded to distinguish easily.

Ensure the patient’s chest is dry and non-hairy so that every inch of the pads sticks to
the skin. You may need to shave the patient’s chest if necessary. The device will repeat

these instructions over and over until you do it correctly.

3. After securing the pads’ placement, the device will automatically analyze the heart
rhythm for 10-15 seconds. A voice instruction will say “Analyzing and Charging, Do Not
Touch The Patient”. At this point no one should touch or move the patient.

4. The next voice prompt will either say “Shock Advised” or “No Shock Advised”.

If “Shock Advised” is prompted, the Shock Button will light up and a voice instruction
will say “ Press the Flashing Button Now”.

Shout “Clear!” and press the Shock Button. After pressing the Shock Button, the device will
confirm and say “Shock Delivered”, “It is safe to touch the patient”, and “Begin CPR”.

Make sure nobody touches the patient before you press the Shock Button by shouting
“Clear!”

If “No Shock Advised” is prompted, another voice instruction will be given saying “It is Safe to
touch the patient, Begin CPR”.

Perform 30 chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths with speed according to the AED device’s
beeping tone (100 bpm). Repeat this cycle 5 times, or approximately 2 minutes until the device
will say “Stop CPR”.

After you stop the CPR, the device will automatically analyze the heart rhythm again and will say
“Analyzing and Charging, Do Not Touch The Patient”.

Repeat steps number 3 and 4 until the Ambulance arrives or the patient has been revived.

TROUBLESHOOTING
