▪ Provided basic assistance with technology including hardware (e.g. eReaders, PCs, tablets, microfilm readers, copy machines,
printers, scanners, 3D printers, and other personal and library-supplied devices), software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and the

▪ Acted as Lead Instructor for public programming, focusing on technology, ideas, and lifestyle improvement.
▪ Assisted patrons with finding library materials and basic information, often utilizing databases such as WorldCat and other

MARINE OFFICER
Unit 059 (Marine Safety Station)
Presently works as a Chicago Police Officer assigned to the Marine Unit as a Marine Officer - Rescue and Recovery Scuba Diver.
Key Responsibilities and Achievements:
▪ Holds and maintains certifications through Scuba Diving International in Open Water Scuba Diving and Rescue Diving, as
well as public-safety oriented certifications in Full-Face Mask Diving and Dry Suit Diving, in addition to boating
certifications through National Association of State Boating Law Administrators as a Basic Crew Member and Tactical
Boating Operator, and State of Illinois accreditation as an Emergency First Responder in First Aid.
▪ Performs routine patrol and homeland security checks of key points of interest to public safety, and is responsible for
monitoring 27 miles of Lake Michigan coastline as well as the Chicago River, various lagoons throughout the city, and any
additional nearby waterways as needed to ensure the safe use of the waterways by commercial and recreational entities.
▪ Acts as primary diver on search and rescue operations for missing/drowned persons, locating them, securing them, and
administering appropriate aid, including, as necessary, performing dives under the ice (“Ice Diving”) as well as acting as
primary diver in recovery operations to return deceased persons to their loved ones, and/or recover evidence necessary in the
furtherance of investigations.
▪ Frequently engages in joint operations with local, state, and federal agencies to work as a team to attain cooperative goals.
