Design: A Comprehensive Study
Give at least five social roles and functions of a teacher. Describe how they are done.
1. Teacher as Counselor and Mediator
A dedicated teacher was not only meant to teach a lesson and lies on imparting knowledge alone
but rather, they also extend a caring hand in providing guidance and support on their students'
personal challenges. They act as a mediator who capably facilitates conflict management,
assisting students in handling disagreements and fostering effective communication
2. A good teacher collaborates with students, parents, and stakesholders.
- A good teacher collaborates with students, parents, and stakeholders to create a positive and
effective learning environment. By working together, it can ensure that the educational needs of
the students are met and that they have the necessary support to succeed.
The teacher conducted their action research through a step-by-step process that we have to
follow. And of course we have to make an action research to those existing problems that
are still unsolved and have few existing studies/research about the problem that the society
is still encountering. First, we need to identify an unsolved problem or issue that relevant to
the society. Next, they conducted a thorough review of existing research to identify gaps in
the current knowledge. Then a specific research question was formulated and also data was
collected using appropriate methods such as surveys, interviews, and observations. Once
data was gathered they analyze it by looking for patterns and trends to inform the next
action. Based on findings, they implemented an action plan to monitored progress, and
reflected on results. Sharing their findings and insights with the society contributed to
broader knowledge. This step-by-step process allowed the teacher to address critical issues
in our society, not only improved their own teaching but also had the potential to positively
influence the broader their knowledge and improve future practices.
Ma'am Angelica Layacan spearheaded the Tulong Dunong Project (TDP), inspired by the
"Kumuha ayon sa pangangailangan Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan" principles of a Community
Pantry that was been established during the pandemic. TDP provided school supplies to less
fortunate families in far-flung areas, with funding from various sponsors. Her future plans involve
expanding the project with like-minded individuals. Further, ma'am Angelica Layacan also
initiated her second extension project dealt with "Community Feeding Program" in light with this
activity, as a teacher she knew the importance of healthy learners. A child who is not properly
nourish will not be able to focus on studying or grasp the lesson taught by teacher. This motivated
ma'am Layacan to have the initiative and organize this program in barangay Agdao. Through the
help of various people who are willing to share, she has gathered enough funds and volunteers like
the parents and Brgy. tanods. Every saturday, children age 5-13 are fed with porridge and bread.
With regards to the extension projects, in the person of Ma'am Iris Erestingcol she established and
led the activity entitled "Kalinisan para sa Kalusugan at Kabutihan" an extension project that
promotes community hygiene for better health. It includes clean-up drives, awareness campaigns,
and hygiene kit distribution, with collaborations from local organizations, schools, and leaders.
Funding came from donations and sponsorships. Ma'am Erestingcol emphasizes that good hygiene
builds a healthier, happier, and more informed community.
