GAUHATI UNIVERSITY Gopinath Bardoloi Nagar y Guwahati-781014, Assam:India "5 email : registrar@gauh: web wor gal Hemanta Kumar Nath ns PRESS RELEASE 318 Convocation of Gauhati University on 15 March, 2024: Honorary D.Sc, and Doctorate Degrees to three eminent persons Guwahati § March: The 31# Convocetion of Gauhati University will be held on 16 March, 2024 atthe University Convention Centre for conferring degreesidiplomas/certficates to successful candidates (of both regular and distance mode) of all examinations for which results were declared during the period from 1 February, 2023 up to 2 January, 2024, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Honourable Govermor of Assam & Chancellor of Gauhati University will preside over the programme. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is ‘expected to join as the Chief Guest of the Convocation. The Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique will deliver the Convocation Address with appraisal. The Academic Procession will be led by Dr. Hemanta Kumar Nath, Registrar, Gauhati University who will deliver the Welcome Address. The Executive Council of Gauhali University with the approval of the Chancellor of the University has decided to confer the Honorary Degree of Honoris Causa (D.S0) to Prof. Tarakeswar Choudhury, an acclaimed Mathematician who has played a pioneering role in popularising Mathematics education in Assam. Further, Honorary PhD Degree will be conferred to Shri Ramen Choudhury, an acclaimed music director and composer who has played a huge part in popularising Assamese music and culture across the country and to ‘Smt. Parbati Baruah, India's first feriale rzhout and Padmashree Awardee in recognition to their outstanding contributions in respective fields. In this Convocation 54849 students wil be qualified for receiving their degrees, diplomas ete. out of which 3355 number of students will present in the Convocation to receive their degrees, diplomas ete. Timeline for receiving robes by the students and other information for the students will be published in the University website shortly.
