A SUBJECTIVE NARRATIVE
It was a cloudy day on July 24, 2023, the day when we were going to take the National
Secondary Achievement Test (NSAT). Early in the morning, me and my friend go to school for
us to finish early in taking the test. When we go to school, the things that we bring are our report
cards and pens for that day. We wait for Mr. Leonardo to give us the test. After we waited for
how many minutes, sir already gave us the test. The people that we encountered while taking the
test were Darein and Carl. The test was a bit hard for me because some of the lessons that are
included on the test were taught when I was in junior high, and I already forgot some of the
topics. I didn’t even review before taking the test; the strand I was going to get is science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). I chose that strand since my course is
aligned with that strand. After how many minutes of answering, me and my friend have already
submitted the test. After that, Mr. Leonardo says that we need to go back here to school after 2 or
7 days to see the result.

On a nice day on July 31, 2024, I came back to school at 1:00 PM. I also brought my
report card, which was covered with a long folder and pens. I waited outside the room because
Sir was talking with someone. After they talk with each other, I go in and my friend asks sir what
strand we got for us to be enrolled. Mr. Leonardo asks us what strand we are going to get. Both
of us answered STEM, and sir tells us that we passed the test on the STEM strand, so we
enrolled in STEM. After asking sir, we immediately go to Ms. Yare, and maam will ask for
information about us since it was needed for the enrollment. After 15 minutes in that station, we
are finally done, and we immediately go to the cashier to pay for the entrance fee, where we also
see Darein. After a long line in the cashier, we finally pay for the entrance fee. Lastly, we go to
the registrar and give Ms. Edna our report card and our 2x2 ID picture. After that, we were
officially enrolled.

When applying to programs and educational institutions, the enrollment essay is a crucial
component. First of all, it gives candidates a chance to highlight their distinct personalities, life
experiences, and goals outside of the classroom. Applicants can add a personal touch to their
applications and give admissions committees a better sense of the applicants themselves through
this essay. Second, the enrollment essay gives applicants a chance to showcase their writing,
critical thinking, and communication skills—all of which are necessary for success in both
academic and professional pursuits. Thirdly, it gives applicants the opportunity to explain why
they are applying to a specific program or institution and emphasize how well they fit with its
culture, values, and pedagogical philosophies. Applicants can showcase their resilience,
adaptability, and growth mindset by reflecting on their past experiences, obstacles faced, and
lessons learnt through their enrollment essay. It also gives applicants the chance to address any
gaps or flaws in their extracurricular or academic records, giving admissions committees context
and mitigating considerations to take into account. In competitive application processes, the
enrollment essay also acts as a differentiator, allowing applicants to distinguish themselves from
one another by highlighting their distinctive personalities and viewpoints. Additionally, it aids
admissions committees in evaluating an applicant's capacity for clear thinking, cohesive concept
organization, and effective self-expression—all of which are critical abilities for success in both
the classroom and the workplace. All things considered, the enrollment essay is an essential
component of the comprehensive assessment of candidates, enabling admissions committees to
choose a competent and varied student body while making well-informed judgments that are
consistent with the institution's objectives.
