SURVIVING AND PROSPERING DURING AND AFTER THE DOLLAR COLLAPSE

Between Bidenomics, Firenados, and COVAIDS season 2, everyone is going to be

carted off to Smart City concentration camps before you can say NPC.

And once you’re checked in, you can never leave.

Just ask The Simpsons, who happen to have predicted a drone-surveillance city
sealed off in a dome, (because of climate change) preventing Springfield residents
from leaving and communicating with the outside world… Oh, and this is set to
happen in 2025!

Is life as we know it right now merely chance or twist of fate? Or is it a game set
in a world where governments and privateers uniformly loath individualism,
privacy, and independence? Carefully planned and openly simulated for years
by military, government, secret service, police, corporate controllers… and the
yellow folk in Springfield?

SURVIVING AND PROSPERING DURING AND AFTER THE DOLLAR COLLAPSE

Sideshow Bill and Mr. Rothschild-Burns & Co. have four goals:

Obstruct autonomy
Blow up self-sovereignty
Incinerate the family unit
And destroy the free market.

But there is some good news.

You control your own game. And, you can choose to play outside your self-
imposed borders, and the ones forced upon you by the agenda on the table.
Beware though, what makes the game extra interesting is that you have only
one life and the game will lock you out of your account as soon as you die.

Perma perma-death.

It definitely feels like the dog days of summer as we head into Labor Day weekend and you can
tell that most traders and investors are likely still at their summer cabins as the markets have
been fairly quiet.

It hasn’t been quiet in terms of dystopian news headlines though as we’ve cataloged more in the
last two weeks than I think we ever have.

So, let’s get right into it with the news rundown.

Mexico is still a great option as the Mexican government did less than almost any other
government on Earth during COVAIDS 1.0. And, even if they did want to round up
people and put them in camps, you have an excellent chance of avoiding that in Mexico
as the government has very little control and most people do not listen to what they say.
And, with what little control they do have, a small gift in the form of Mexican pesos can
usually get you out of almost anything.

Another good option is Nicaragua. They also did very little during COVAIDS 1.0 and
even just threw the Jesuits out of the country! I am telling you, Latin America is the
best area in the world in general. Now, what kind of payback is coming to Nicaragua
for removing one of the most dangerous secret societies is yet to be seen. But, imagine
Kanada or the USSA or any European country throwing the Jesuits out. It’s almost
unthinkable. Killary and Trump both are in bed heavily with the Jesuits. The Jesuits were
routinely thrown out of countries in the past but have since gotten their tentacles deep
into most governments.

society in Nicaragua at ECI Development’s ‘Eco-Village Asuchillo (EVA)’. Homes there
start for as little as $129,000 USD and they offer financing and they accept crypto,
including Monero and Pirate Chain!

getting a home there and a Nicaraguan residency so if you have the chance to escape

My Current Outlook
In the August Issue which went out on August 15, I said that that week was the 33rd
week of the year and I expected something significant to happen. And, it did, with stock
markets selling off all week along with crypto.

Stock markets rebounded this week as did crypto, with Bitcoin rising $2,000 on Tuesday
as news came out that the Grayscale fund won a court case regarding them converting
into an ETF.

I stated in the last Issue that I was being very cautious with regard to my crypto holdings
as we near September and I had sold some more BTC near $29k and closed out some
of my BTC loans. Then, Mr. A & W of TCV said that they expected a bounce to $28k from
$26k so I bought some more at $26k. And, I just sold some of that at $28k.

The question now is, where do things go from here? Mr. A, W, and Ed seem to all be in
agreement that we’ll see a fairly sharp pullback in September and so I have moved a lot to
cash and closed out even more loans just now as it hit $28k.

We are also on the cusp of the end of what could be the Jubilee year. If it is the Jubilee
year, it will end on September 15th in the evening when the Jewish New Year holiday of
Rosh Hashanah begins. This will make the September Issue timing very interesting as it is
set to go out in the evening on September 15th!

I just pay attention to what comes to my

attention and how certain events and dates have affected the markets in the past.
And, right now, September 15th and 23rd look primed for some sort of major event.
Interestingly, Yom Kippur lands one day later on September 24th.

I am not just using those dates in a vacuum to make some predictions. Ed Bugos looks
at all the data points in the market and he is saying to expect a crash in September or
October. And, Mr. A & W predicted we’d see a drop-down from $29k in BTC to $24-26k
(which happened) and then said we’d see a bounce from $26k to $28k after that (which
happened) and they are now saying they expect BTC to go lower in September giving
targets of $20k and $17k.

It seems all the stars are aligning for this to occur… literally.

A deluge of newsflow continues to detract from the deflation reality that will soon be
felt everywhere, all the more because it is being ignored right now. And I am not talking
about China.

The Chinese aren’t deflating.

But let’s recap the “deluge” first, because there’s a lot of news, and I only want to mention
the important items before getting into earnings for Wall Street, and for the gold and
silver miners.

In the world of politics and the fight for freedom, we may have a guy who claims to be an
ancap who came out of nowhere to lead the anti-establishmentarian ticket in Argentina.
And he’s not dead yet.

Javier Gerardo Milei is an economist and professor. He has authored several books and
over 100 journalistic papers, and has swung hard from being an ardent neoclassical
Keynesian Bernanke lover who spoke at the WEF in 2014 as a globalist to an all out hater
of all political institutions, especially central banks. He promises to bring down the central
bank and many offices if not the whole government in Argentina. He is said to be an
outsider, but there are some questions yet to be answered to confirm that.

The Republican nomination debate went on without Trump who felt he was too good for
all the other schmucks, and is probably right. The Dems are still trying to indict the guy on
trump-ed up charges.

In the west, mandates for masks are being talked up again by some of the scardiest of
scaredy cats in Canada and the UK, as well as some colleges in the USSA. Canada’s top
court ruled that Jordan Peterson has to be re-indoctrinated or else lose his license. And
Australian banksters are classifying “mean speech” now as a potential pretext to debank
someone. I had to add the word “debank” to my personal dictionary.

It’s a new world. And that is why we keep pounding the table on getting out of that system.
It’s going down.

Wildfires in the news are caused by humans - whether by “climate change”, by political
agendas, arsonists, or bad management of the forest by governments - and El Nino has
ravaged rice crops in Asia, apparently.

That will not help them keep food prices in check. In fact, food and oil prices are set to rise
despite the deflation in money on account of non monetary supply chain issues. In oil, the
SPR has finished selling.

Powell spoke at the annual bankers convention in Jacksonhole but he didn’t say anything
different. He just continued to repeat his message on rates - higher for longer - while the
market keeps front-running him by pushing down those bond yields whenever there is bad
economic data (this week it was a jobs number).

This will produce a problem as will any news that suggests rates will not return to the old normal.

The Disenfranchised BRICS

The CCP and the PBOC are
slowly preparing to launch
their own currency once the
BRICS bloc has agreed on
trade and monetary policies
with the countries that are
joining the economic bloc.
They have been buyers of
gold for some time but in
this century their holdings
have surpassed the Swiss
and most Western countries
in terms of the amount they
own (in tonnes below). It is
now sixth beyond the USSA (if it still owns its gold), Germany, Italy, France, and Russia. Together
Russia and China hold almost 5,000 tonnes if you believe the data, rivaling the 8,000 tonnes
held by the US and the three mentioned euro nations.

Unfortunately, there was no talk about gold at the BRICS conference, and really there was
no meat in the thing. So far it’s just a bunch of outcast countries trying to get together to
decide how much to steal from each other. They are no threat to the US dollar without
gold. And even with gold, they aren’t a long-term threat because anything that is gold-
backed is not gold, let alone by those governments notorious for lying.

Deflation and China vs the Western Economies
Every day the financial media talks
about deflation in China where
money growth is still growing but
the CPI is not. As I have shown
above, and in a recent issue, the
Chinese money growth rate has
slowed but is still expanding, and
the CPI growth rate has been
flat for a while. So has its asset
markets.

In the chart here I am comparing

the Chinese averages (blue and
orange) to the S&P 500 (red/black)
in the backdrop. A lot of people
worry about China’s markets
collapsing. And to be sure, Cramer probably sealed the deal when he said they wouldn’t.
But a lot of their collapse has already occurred as you can see in the China Index listed
on the NY Arca exchange (CZH - purple line), which fell from 450 down to almost 100 in
2021 and 2022. Other than an initial jump in 2020 they didn’t follow US markets higher in
2021, and they didn’t have the same inflation problem that the west ran into, because they
stopped inflating a decade ago.

They aren’t deflating but as reported in the previous August newsletter they have been
trying to bring down the economy’s inflation tax in preparation for the new currency, we
believe. This has wreaked havoc on the unsound boom that it created back between 2008
and 2014 where they built so many empty cities.

However, central bank policy around the world has tightened on all of the unsound booms
that they created over the last 20 years. China is no exception but it isn’t the worst culprit
in recent years. It has produced a lot of malinvestment with its five-year plans, giant empty
cities, Silk Road infrastructure, corporatism, and historic money printing. But perhaps not as
acutely as the US has, and not as over the top in any case.

The Chinese government’s debt/GDP ratio (77%) has been growing this century but is still
significantly below the USSA’s massive 129% ratio, which is all the more significant because
the US economy is so large.

I am bearish on the Chinese economy and its society under the CCP’s leadership, and as I
have previously argued, I am not optimistic about the BRICS regional bloc or its currency. In

fact, we have heard nothing about the gold backing hype that preceded their conference.
But dedollarization is still bearish for the dollar in the short term. So that will not be a
positive for the US economy or the dollar standard when it happens.

The financial collapse we see is going to be a global contagion and it is being led by
the US, first to the upside, and now to the downside with the Fed’s deflation policy. The
Chinese economy is certainly vulnerable and will come down with the global economy but
it is not the ticking time bomb that the US situation is right now with its most overvalued
markets, and bulls absolutely defiant of not only deflation, but also, the Fed, and the Trend.
The bulls are fighting the Fed, the trend, deflation, and ‘the Ed!’

The media meanwhile has pointed to deflation in China because it is conditioned to look at the
effects of inflation and deflation (consumer prices). But prices are impacted from two distinct
directions, by both, the money relation and the real side. The money relation means the impact
on a price from the supply and demand for the money used in its denomination (in exchange
for the good). The real side refers to the supply and demand dynamics for the actual economic
good. If we want to call every increase in prices inflation and every decrease in prices deflation
then we have to come up with a term for the effect on the price of a good that comes solely
from changes in the supply and (reserve) demand for the money good.

This is how they confuse people.

That is why the media thinks there is deflation in China while there isn’t, while not seeing
that there is deflation here. The effects of the deflation nevertheless are being felt in every
corner of the market.

And also on consumer prices - that’s why they are falling too.

Will China Collapse First?

food, adding to signs of growing financial distress in the economy. Among households using
the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s boosted pandemic benefits, 42% skipped
meals in August and 55% ate less because they couldn’t afford food, more than double last
year’s share…” Bloomberg Article

My take on the Western consumer right now (NAFTA and EU) is that they’ve been adding
to their credit card balances and debts to sustain a standard of living above their means
because they think the slowdown is temporary - because they believe Powell’s promise
of a soft landing. In the same way I believe that many businesses are trying to hold things
together. Both are waiting for lower interest rates before refinancing.

That may or may not come but meanwhile they are facing rising debt service elsewhere,
rising consumer price inflation, and a slowing economy, at least by many measures, making
it look as though Powell will succeed. As with the deflation conundrum, the western
media has been publishing reports about a waning consumer in China. These reports are
distractions from the bigger problems here. Even on this point, we all know that the Chinese
consumer is a natural born saver, unlike the US consumer. And we also know that the source
of growth is saving, and not consumption as the Keynesians believe is the source of growth.

The moment that interest rates come down even a bit, assuming they will - which I’m not
sure they will - the US consumer is going to jump at the opportunity to refinance his/her
debt, which will keep the pressure on rates going higher (borrowing demand tends to do
this regardless of inflation rates) without more spending.

That is, consumers don’t have to spend more to push up consumer price inflation and then
rates; they just have to borrow intensely when the banks aren’t lending easily. That will push
rates up.

When will this rush occur? As soon as yields come down a little and the consumer starts
to accept the new normal in the current and maybe higher levels of the rate of interest.
The US consumer and government have not been disciplined enough to cut back on their
borrowing demands so whatever relief comes from a pause in rate hikes and a fall in yields
will be offset by these pressures before they can lift asset prices.

And of course, any pivot at this point is going to be inflationary in its effect on prices
probably fast - given the tightness of labor markets, wealth effects, and increase in consumer
and government expenditures.

Speaking of propaganda, news, and distractions, this article does a good job of explaining
the drop in bond yields and the DXY (US dollar fx) this week, and we’re looking for the
monthly jobs report to confirm it.

The nonfarm payrolls report is due tomorrow and is usually a market mover.

For months we’ve reported that the jobs data reported by the gubermint was out of touch
with the headlines we kept reading off the newswires from the big companies. But it all
makes sense now, doesn’t it?

The forecast for the NFP in August is between 170k and 180k, slightly below the 187k
reported for July, as per the trend below, but if the size of the aforementioned revisions are
an indication, look out below.

With the unraveling jobs market weighing on the dollar and bond yields, confirming
pivot hopes, the bulls are getting sucked into a dangerously expensive scenario with
fundamentals souring and deflation smiling.

We call it a bull trap.

Earnings, Earnings, Earnings
In real estate it’s location, location, location.

In the stock market - in fact, in all asset markets - it is now the Fed, the Fed, the Fed.

But it wasn’t that long ago that investors cared about earnings growth, which if you smooth out
the sharp ups and downs in recent years is in the 7 to 8 percent range for the S&P 500 index,
AFTER share buybacks.

Likewise, GDP has been growing below 3 percent for a long time if you exclude the volatility
around 2020.

These facts do not support a record price-to-sales ratio, or a 24x P/E ratio.

Such multiples belong to a high-growth economy, or a mania. And the only thing high growth
about the US economy has been money supply growth, so mania is at the top of our list of
explanations for these values.

But that easy money has ended for the moment.

Temporary it may be, but, ended … it surely has.

That fact is ignored and will bite the bulls in the ass. But while that’s brewing, let’s check in on
earnings and their trends for the Dow 30 Industrials, the S&P 500, and the HUI index’s gold miners.

S&P 500 Earnings Chugging Along, Low Single Digit Shrinking Growth

The trailing 12-month earnings per share number for the S&P 500 index is expected to be up
between 1 and 5 percent in the third quarter compared to the same quarter last year, as well
as compared to last quarter.

So basically earnings are forecast and expected to grow less than 5% annually in the coming quarter.

The quarterly EPS figure is

expected to be up about 14%
compared to last quarterly
EPS figure in Q2 and about
10% over the year-ago figure
in Q3, 2022. The dividend
yield is still a third of the US
treasury bond’s yield, and last
quarter was the first quarter in
years that the actual dividend
fell slightly. And just like the
Dow, you can see that the
S&P 500 index trades at an
average of 24 times earnings,
which implies a growth rate
of at least double digits if not
closer to 20 percent annually.
Probably nothing you don’t know but just keeping you up to date on the trends here. They
are not getting any better and valuations are still very rich.

Another way to put that is that the equity market (wall street) is not expecting any upsets, or
factoring in any bad news, i.e., so there is almost no room for error in the next two quarters,
especially the fourth quarter as that is the one that most analysts have procrastinated in
reducing their forecasts on.

DJIA Industrials - Earnings Fundamentals Peaked End of 2021

In the second quarter the Dow 30 Industrials
reported a combined quarterly revenue of $876
billion, up 2.2% from $857.3 billion in the first
quarter and up about 3% from $850.7 billion in
the second quarter last year. So far the quarterly
peak occurred in December at $890 billion.

Wall Street is looking for a slightly lower figure

in the third quarter than the $876 billion last
quarter, and then a record high of $928 billion
in the Q4, when pigs fly. On a trailing 12-month
basis, total revenues for the Dow companies
have flatlined at around $3.5 trillion this year
for many quarters, and aren’t forecast to rise
more than $50 billion by the end of 2023. In
other words, Dow revenues have stopped
growing this year, as expected … and inferred by the money supply.

That compares to an average CAGR of around 5% in the top line since 2019. As you know,
Apple, Chevron, Microsoft, United Health, and Wal-Mart contributed more than 50% of the
revenues in the Dow 30.

For the record, their share of Dow Revenues has increased from 46% to 53% since early
2019 with revenues for the Big 5 growing at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR)
of 6.8% compared to just 3.2% per year for the other 25 companies in the average. Three
companies have had a negative Revenue CAGR over the last five years: Boeing, Goldman
Sachs, and Intel; and about another five have had no growth for years.

The DJIA has relied on 5 out of 8 cylinders, fundamentally, these past few years.

The fastest top-line growth over the past four years goes to Salesforce, Microsoft, Merck,
Visa, Home Depot, JPM, United Health and Chevron, which have grown their top lines from
between 7 to 15 percent annually.

That’s the good news. It gets worse from there.

On a year-over-year basis, the Dow’s trailing twelve-month bottom line (net diluted EPS) fell
about 5% in the second quarter from the first quarter and by about 10% from the year-ago
TTM figure in Q2 2022.

Still, analysts are ‘expecting’ a 20%

bump up in the third quarter EPS
for the DJIA average relative to the
last one (Q1 2023) but relatively less
improvement on a year-over-year
basis. That’s in the quarterly data. In the
trailing twelve-month data, the year-
over-year Q3 bottom line is expected
to flatline or fall a few points, thereby
continuing the weakening spell. As you
can see in this chart of indexed trailing
twelve-month earnings for the Dow,
EPS peaked at the end of 2021 (with
S&P 500 earnings).

About half the companies in the DJIA are expected to report a decline in Q/Q quarterly
earnings in the third quarter coming up. It was 17 in the last quarter. But make room for
some disappointments this October.

Investors are paying an average of 35x trailing DJIA EPS excluding the four negative earners
(3M, Boeing, Intel, and Walgreens). That’s significantly higher than the broader S&P 500, btw.
Historically valuations like that meant that the market is expecting 25-35 percent in earnings
growth, but you see from the graph further above that that has only occurred in volatile
periods, and we are not in a high growth period now.

HUI Gold Miners

That is the ratio of the AMEX

quadruple in this period.

The Fed’s deflation policy over
the past year has kept a lid on
precious metal prices while the
miners along with most capital
intensive businesses (including
manufacturers) suffered
from the massive inflation in
capex costs, and operating
costs resulting from the Fed’s
previous two decade long
inflationary policy.

Unlike the miners, many

companies, however, were
able to flex some pricing
power and keep their revenues from sliding too much in reaction to the deflation. So while
margins were under pressure everywhere in the economy, the miners got it worse because
they didn’t have any pricing power under the deflation policy.

What will change?

The bear market in the DXY will change things. It is overdue. We get one every other
decade historically. And we will get one soon. Recall my elaboration that while the dollar
is benefitting from capital inflows - or hot foreign investment money - chasing US dollar
denominated assets (stocks and bonds) that are being inflated by the Fed (usually), the
incentive to inflate money supply is not as intense as it is when the DXY is experiencing a
bear market. Even though they are still inflating, because the dollar is going up, foreign
investors are happy about their dollar investments as well as the dollar’s rising relative
purchasing power because they are selling America’s consumer goods. They are happy
when their currencies are weakening as long as they aren’t collapsing. This all changes
when the US capital markets and consumers are saturated.

In dollar bear markets, and there is no reason this time will be different, foreign investors are
watching their American investments fall, and foreign exporters are not selling as much to
Americans.

So they pressure their central banks to inflate in order to weaken their currencies against the
USD, and gain what they believe is a competitive mercantilist advantage.

What you have seen in the last year and a half is that the Fed has tightened and the dollar
has risen, which has forced all the other central bankers to tighten in order to avoid a
‘collapse’ in their currencies.

DollarVigilante.com 25

They don’t mind the weakness, recall, just not a collapse.

Hence when the DXY is falling on forex markets, the pressure to inflate mounts everywhere,
and because the Fed is likely inflating to support its falling stock and/or bond markets at that
moment, foreign trading partners are impelled to inflate more than usual. This results in not
only a precious metals bull cycle, but also a general commodity cycle. That’s what we are
waiting for. That’s when our gold stocks will explode.

In this kind of environment, price inflation runs hot too in general, and the Fed has trouble
keeping rates down too low, especially at the longer end of the maturity spectrum. This
means instead of getting 25x earnings, the Industrials may get between 10 and 15 times
earnings, which will grow also, but not as fast as they will for the miners. Many of the
Industrials have piled on the debt so they will be hamstrung by the higher new normal in
interest rates for a while while the rising gold price will widen profit margins for the miners.
Another factor that will help the miners is the recessionary or slow growth environment and
some unemployment because that will free up some of the highly specialized labor and
capital resources to be redeployed and employed in the mining sector without having to bid
them away with higher price offers.

At the moment, the miners are generally trading at valuations of half that of the Industrials,
and they pay twice the yield. The HUI’s average dividend yield is 2.8%. The Dow pays 1.5%.
The HUI has an average PE ratio of around 20 but if you exclude the high multiple royalty
companies like FNV, Royal Gold and Sandstrom, which all trade on par with the Dow’s 30x
plus average PE ratio, this falls to around 17x, or about half of the value of the Industrials. So
the values here do not factor in the bull market that we see.

worsening for the US blue chips and general stock and bond markets -

I see a commodity and hard asset cycle emerging with a bear market in
the US dollar forex.

But that bear market is still elusive. The forex dollar is just now pulling
back to the lower part of the bull market channel that started after the

Recap: What You Have Achieved So Far
Last month, you learned about Fedora Workstation and why it is a great choice for a
Linux distribution on your desktop/laptop. This is largely due to two factors: Fedora’s
release cycle on the one hand, and its community on the other. Overall, Fedora could be
described as a very good “just works” distribution, which is what most users are looking
for. In addition, I walked you through the installation process. With that, you should have
all the skills you need to install Fedora, which is secure, privacy-preserving, free-of-charge,
and runs on almost any PC. There were a number of takeaways, which I will summarize
next. For the detailed rationale or the specifics of installation and initial setup, please take
a look at last month’s dispatch.

The main takeaway regarding the installation process as a whole should be that there
is nothing to worry about, even if this is your first time installing any operating system.
Everything works flawlessly and within a well-structured installation GUI manager - it is
very intuitive! And in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, the community is
always there to cover you.

Regarding security, I strongly recommend that you enable full-disk encryption in the
“Installation Destination” menu. This will protect your data at rest. In other words, when
your computer is turned off (power off, not locked screen), the data is inaccessible and
can only be read by entering the correct password. If you choose a strong password,
there is no known attack that even the most powerful entities, such as nation-states, could
use to access your data.

Besides protecting data like family photos and documents that you might not want to see in
public, you should use full-disk encryption, especially if you use cryptocurrencies. Depending
on how you set up your wallets, your private crypto keys may be stored unencrypted on your
computer’s hard drive, making them available for extraction by anyone who successfully steals
your device, buys it on eBay, or recycles it from the landfill. This is not possible with a strong
password and full-disk encryption enabled. Of course, using a flawless system with no ways to
sneak around also means that if you lose your drive encryption password, you will not be able
to get your data back. This is why it is so important to practice good password habits, which
can be simplified with a password manager. To learn more about account security, such as
password management and multi-factor authentication, please check out the related articles.

After the installation was complete and you looked at the initial setup, you hopefully noticed
that Fedora is a breath of fresh air, with no unnecessary telemetry or marketing-speak menus
cluttering up your system. The takeaway here is that Fedora only offers what users really want
(unlike Windows or MacOS), making it much more user-friendly as the computer works with
you, not against you. Still, skipping over all the settings is not the best idea; you should check
your system settings!

Finally, I briefly touched on updates, which include both application features and security
patches. After the updates have been processed by rebooting your system, you are finished
with an up-to-date system that is free of telemetry and data mining. Welcome to the free
world! There is much more to learn, so stay tuned for more articles about Linux in the future.
However, for this month, I have to issue a serious warning about a software recommendation
I made in the past, as well as talk about some actually quite exciting news.

Ravio OTP Authenticator Warning

Ravio OTP, my previously recommended authenticator app for iOS, has been acquired by an
obscure company called Mobime. While this company is not a proven malicious entity, I see
more red flags than I would like, forcing me to issue a serious warning regarding Ravio OTP.
In the theoretical case of a malicious actor, an update could be pushed to extract your 2FA
secrets, rendering your 2FA account protections ineffective.

Before I point out what red flags I see and why this leads me to believe that your 2FA
secrets managed by Ravio OTP may have been compromised, let me first give you my
recommended protective measures. Assuming a full compromise of Ravio OTP, user action
is required: you have to disable 2FA on each account you used Ravio OTP for, then use a
different authenticator app and re-enable 2FA for each site again.

This is a big headache to do, but the only way to make a clear cut assuming a fully malicious
application that has extracted your TOTP secrets. To emphasize, you need to generate new
secrets, not move (export) your old secrets to a new application. For this reason, you must
first disable 2FA on all sites managed by Ravio OTP, then re-enable it on each site using the
new authenticator app.

My new recommendation
for iOS is 2FAS (Two-
Factor Authentication
Service). However,
2FAS users may face
the same dilemma as
Ravio OTP users right
now, because there is a
fundamental problem
with the iOS platform
that I will explain at the
end of this section. The
only reasonable solution
would be to switch from
iOS to Android. 2FAS is a good replacement for Ravio OTP, which is now owned by the
dubious company Mobime.

DollarVigilante.com 29
Post-Quantum Cypherpunk Vibes
Installation & Initial Setup
continued MR.P
Regenerating all of your 2FA secrets may seem drastic to some readers, but please
remember that 2FA is an essential line of defense between a hacker and your accounts,
which may contain sensitive information or financial resources that you should protect as
much as possible. In fact, a compromise of your 2FA, in addition to a weak password or
phishing attack, would render most current Internet accounts completely vulnerable.

To explain why I am skeptical about Mobime as the new owner of Ravio OTP here are my
reasons:

• First, the acquisition process was not announced publicly, but was discovered by a
user. The previous maintainer, “tijme”, stated that he had planned to announce the
transition, but was “surprised by the speed of the transition from Apple’s side”. This
explanation makes no sense to me, as the takeover should have been announced
before the app was moved from his account to Mobime’s.

• Second, Ravio OTP is free, provides no cash flow, and the only reason someone
would want to maintain it is to provide a great service to the world. To put it another
way, if Mobime is not an altruistic company, it is likely that there is going to be some
upcoming paid feature nonsense or malicious activity in the near future. I don’t buy
the argument that they wanted to get the app to acquire all the knowledge and skills
from the code base because it is open-source and easy to look at. For this reason, it
has to do with Ravio OTP’s user base and not the code itself in my opinion.

• Third, Mobime offers other apps in the App Store that appear to be a mix of apps that
require special permissions - suggesting data collection practices. Specifically, these
are a VPN, a screen recorder, and a keyboard app. To me, as someone who knows
exactly what data each app can see, this screams malicious data collection practices.

• Fourth, Mobime itself is an opaque company with little information on the web.

To play devil’s advocate: Mobime could do the world a great service by driving the
development of iOS 2FA management, and tijme was simply overwhelmed with the
acquisition process as a hobby developer - making an official announcement impossible.
Nevertheless, this seems unlikely to me, especially in combination with the company’s
product catalog, and I strongly recommend switching to another more transparent
alternative like 2FAS and generating new secrets.

Finally, I would like to point out why 2FAS, as well as any other application on iOS, could fall victim
to an acquisition like Ravio OTP’s, and why this could happen to an open-source application in the
first place. The whole problem stems from the lack of user control, or user freedom if you want to
use that phrase, on Apple’s iOS platform. There is no way to install an application except through
the App Store. With this layer between the source code repository and the application distribution,
no user can really know if they are downloading the application created from the public code.

DollarVigilante.com 30
Post-Quantum Cypherpunk Vibes
Installation & Initial Setup
continued MR.P
Therefore, every iOS user has to trust Apple and the App Store developer accounts, and
cannot rely on the source code itself. This massive amount of control is also shown by the
fact that the Chinese version of Apple’s App Store does not offer VPN applications - so
there is no way to install them. As an aside, this situation makes it obvious that there is
no escape from draconian laws when living in Apple’s ecosystem. Don’t get trapped by
the system, use an open alternative! Keep this in mind for your next phone purchase and
consider an Android device.

In contrast, if Ravio OTP was an Android app, I would still be able to read the source code,
compile the app and install it - giving me control over the entire supply chain. This type
of installation without the need for an app store is called sideloading. Unfortunately,
sideloading is not possible on iOS because Apple strictly forbids any installation method
other than the App Store. The same goes for all prohibited apps - Chinese Android users
can sideload VPN apps, while iOS users are out of luck. This is why I would never use an
iPhone.

Fedora Meets Apple Silicon Macs Af

g
The Fedora Project has announced upcoming support for Apple Silicon Macs. Please don’t
expect the first release to be as polished as the others, but it’s great to see that Linux has
finally arrived on newer Apple machines. This was not possible for a long time because
these machines have a completely different processor architecture. If you want to tinker
with Fedora on a new Mac, take a look at “Fedora Asahi Remix”.

Zoom Data Collection

Another news story that caused quite a stir was Zoom’s decision to use your data for AI
training purposes. After a huge backlash, Zoom changed its privacy policy again and now
states that no data will be used for AI training “without your consent”. In other words, you
might find a tiny little button somewhere to opt-out, but most users won’t.

While many users obviously don’t like these collection practices, it’s amazing that most
users don’t see the glaring problem - the technological ability to collect data in the first
place. Your data is worth a lot of money, and of course, it will be used in every possible way
as long as it is available. Instead of reading and studying a company’s privacy policy all day
long, you should be looking at its technical capabilities. A solid cryptographic setup can
mathematically prove that your data is protected, without a company having to promise it
in some marketing-speak privacy policy.

For example, you can use Signal instead of Zoom for your conferencing needs. This way,
you use the encrypted and time-tested Signal Protocol, which protects your data and
metadata and prevents any form of data misuse. A screen-sharing option is available, too.

DollarVigilante.com 31
Post-Quantum Cypherpunk Vibes
Installation & Initial Setup
continued MR.P
Signal’s current implementation allows for 40 people, which is amazing for an end-to-end
encrypted protocol. However, I am not sure whether a call with 40 people will give you a
decent experience.

If you have a need for larger groups, you may not be able to encrypt your data end-to-end,
but that does not mean you have to use a massively privacy-invasive service like Zoom. My
next best recommendation, if Signal is too limited by its strong protections, is to try Jitsi
Meet. It doesn’t encrypt your data end-to-end, but you can host the open-source application
yourself. By controlling the server, you can ensure that no data is collected, while data is always
encrypted in transit. If self-hosting is too big of a step for you, you can also try out the service
by using some servers provided by the company behind Jitsi Meet, or find a community server
you have reason to trust. Keep in mind that if you don’t host the application on your own
server, you’ll have to rely on the promises made by the server operators.

VPN Provider Reevaluation

There have been some recent technological advancements in the VPN industry that
have caused me to reevaluate my recommendations. First of all, my four recommended
services (Mullvad, IVPN, Proton VPN, Njalla) are still the same, but their rankings have
changed. For this reason, I will not repeat all the ins and outs of these companies. If you
want to take a closer look, please read the TDV November 2022 Dispatch.

Without further ado, here is what has changed: Mullvad has implemented sound post-
quantum resistant WireGuard tunnels, making them the only major VPN provider to offer this
form of protection. Having said that, Mullvad is currently my top recommendation, far ahead
of any other company that can now be classified as a legacy technology VPN provider.

But what does this mouthful of a sentence mean? Well, you need to understand the threat
of quantum computers to modern encryption schemes and a bit of cryptography basics.
Let’s start with quantum computers themselves.

A quantum computer is a machine that can perform certain operations much more
efficiently than traditional computer systems. Because of this, some types of modern
encryption schemes can theoretically be broken. This is a huge threat, especially since
it is reasonable to assume that a lot of encrypted traffic that cannot be cracked with
today’s tools is being stored for later decryption when quantum computers reach a
level of processing power to do so. The threat of quantum computers is not new to the
cryptography world, but as these systems have advanced quite a bit recently, there are
estimates that quantum computers could reach the necessary capabilities within the next
10 years.

DollarVigilante.com 32
Post-Quantum Cypherpunk Vibes
Installation & Initial Setup
continued MR.P
After explaining why quantum computers are a threat even today, you need to understand
the basics of cryptography. Within cryptography, there are two types of encryption
ciphers - symmetric and asymmetric. Symmetric ciphers use the same key to encrypt and
decrypt, while asymmetric ones use some sort of mathematical constructs to split these
two operations into partial keys. You may have heard of public-key cryptography, which is
another name for this type of asymmetric encryption ciphers.

These two types of encryption families are often used in combination. For example,
asymmetric encryption allows you to establish a secure connection and exchange data over
an insecure channel such as the Internet. This is not possible with symmetric encryption.
However, symmetric ciphers are much more performant than asymmetric ones. This is one
reason why these combined systems exist. For example, when you connect to a website,
your browser exchanges a symmetric key via asymmetric encryption, and then uses the
key in conjunction with a symmetric cipher to speed up all data decryption and encryption
operations after the initial exchange.

If you have one of these combined systems where asymmetric and symmetric operations are
connected, both must be secure. If your symmetric cipher is broken, the asymmetric key exchange
at the beginning is useless, while if the asymmetric cipher is broken, the symmetric key can be
extracted by an attacker and then used to decrypt the symmetrically encrypted data.

Bear with me a little longer and you will see the whole picture in a second. Let us combine
quantum computing with your newly acquired knowledge of basic cryptography. To do
this, you need to know two quantum algorithms:

The first is Shor’s algorithm, which efficiently finds the prime factors of an integer. Without a
quantum computer, this is known as a mathematically hard problem and is the fundamental
reason why most asymmetric ciphers are secure. This means that if someone can build a
quantum computer powerful enough to run Shor’s algorithm, asymmetric ciphers like ECC
or RSA are broken.

The second is Grover’s algorithm, which allows for the efficient search (cracking) of
symmetric keys. Effectively it is able to brute-force a 128-bit key in 2^64 iterations or a
256-bit key in 2^128 iterations. This means that if you followed my Fedora installation and
initial setup and enabled full disk encryption using an AES256 encryption algorithm (you
don’t choose the algorithm, it’s the default), you will have the security of AES128 if Grover’s
algorithm becomes a significant threat. While symmetric ciphers are affected, AES128
is still known to be unbreakable, so if you choose AES256 today, your laptop’s data is
protected even against quantum computers.

Nevertheless, as discussed above, asymmetric ciphers are basically broken and therefore
need to be replaced by newer post-quantum resistant ciphers. These have been
standardized over the last few years, but no one wants to implement a newer cipher for a

DollarVigilante.com 33
Post-Quantum Cypherpunk Vibes
Installation & Initial Setup
continued MR.P
potential threat that will never exist and thus leave the realm of well-vetted cryptography. In
other words, no one should and wants to roll their own crypto.

For this reason, most post-quantum-resistant schemes will implement a hybrid encryption of
a legacy asymmetric cipher and a new quantum-resistant one. This way, if a bug is found in
the post-quantum-resistant cipher, the data is at least protected by today’s standards; if no
bug is found, it is even quantum resistant.

However, it is not so easy to implement a new cipher in an existing project, and I am pretty
sure that this will kill a ton of projects over the next few years (maybe even decades).
Fortunately, the WireGuard protocol provides the additional option of adding a pre-shared
symmetric key to its public key cryptography, which has a key length of 256 bits (meaning
that if Grover’s algorithm becomes feasible, it’s still secure). However, this only works if the
key is exchanged via a post-quantum-resistant asymmetric cipher. And this is what Mullvad
has recently implemented.

Specifically, Mullvad uses Classic McEliece,

which is one of the new quantum-resident
asymmetric ciphers, to exchange the pre-
shared symmetric key for the WireGuard
protocol. What this means is that your Mullvad
traffic has the least chance of being decrypted
in the future, making Mullvad the most
technologically advanced and innovative VPN
provider on the market right now.

In summary, Mullvad provides sound quantum-

resistant VPN tunnels with WireGuard. It is
unlikely that this feature will be added to other
protocols such as OpenVPN in the near future.
However, unless you are dealing with heavy
censorship, WireGuard is the best protocol for
privacy VPN use cases because it is fast and
secure. Performance-wise, you should see no
difference with a processor built within the last
few years. In other words, it’s time to feel some
cypherpunk vibes by going post-quantum!

If you are connected using Mullvad’s post-

quantum secure encryption method, your
application will display “Quantum Secure
Connection” on the screen.

Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress

Mr. Speaker:

This may be the last time I speak on the House Floor. At the end of the year I’ll leave
Congress after 23 years in office over a 36 year period. My goals in 1976 were the
same as they are today: promote peace and prosperity by a strict adherence to the
principles of individual liberty.

It was my opinion, that the course the U.S. embarked on in the latter part of the 20th
Century would bring us a major financial crisis and engulf us in a foreign policy that
would overextend us and undermine our national security.

To achieve the goals I sought, government would have had to shrink in size and scope,
reduce spending, change the monetary system, and reject the unsustainable costs of
policing the world and expanding the American Empire.

The problems seemed to be overwhelming and impossible to solve, yet from my

view point, just following the constraints placed on the federal government by the
Constitution would have been a good place to start.

In many ways, according to conventional wisdom, my off-and-on career in Congress,

from 1976 to 2012, accomplished very little. No named legislation, no named federal
buildings or highways -- thank goodness. In spite of my efforts, the government
has grown exponentially, taxes remain excessive, and the prolific increase of

incomprehensible regulations continues. Wars are constant and pursued without
Congressional declaration, deficits rise to the sky, poverty is rampant and dependency on
the federal government is now worse than any time in our history.

All this with minimal concerns for the deficits and unfunded liabilities that common sense
tells us cannot go on much longer. A grand, but never mentioned, bipartisan agreement
allows for the well-kept secret that keeps the spending going. One side doesn’t give up
one penny on military spending, the other side doesn’t give up one penny on welfare
spending, while both sides support the bailouts and subsidies for the banking and
corporate elite. And the spending continues as the economy weakens and the downward
spiral continues. As the government continues fiddling around, our liberties and our
wealth burn in the flames of a foreign policy that makes us less safe.

The major stumbling block to real change in Washington is the total resistance to admitting
that the country is broke. This has made compromising, just to agree to increase spending,
inevitable since neither side has any intention of cutting spending.

The country and the Congress will remain divisive since there’s no “loot left to divvy up.”

Without this recognition the spenders in Washington will continue the march toward a fiscal
cliff much bigger than the one anticipated this coming January.

I have thought a lot about why those of us who believe in liberty, as a solution, have done so
poorly in convincing others of its benefits. If liberty is what we claim it is- the principle that
protects all personal, social and economic decisions necessary for maximum prosperity and
the best chance for peace- it should be an easy sell. Yet, history has shown that the masses
have been quite receptive to the promises of authoritarians which are rarely if ever fulfilled.

If authoritarianism leads to poverty and war and less freedom for all individuals and is
controlled by rich special interests, the people should be begging for liberty. There
certainly was a strong enough sentiment for more freedom at the time of our founding
that motivated those who were willing to fight in the revolution against the powerful British
government.

During my time in Congress the appetite for liberty has been quite weak; the understanding
of its significance negligible. Yet the good news is that compared to 1976 when I first came
to Congress, the desire for more freedom and less government in 2012 is much greater and
growing, especially in grassroots America. Tens of thousands of teenagers and college age
students are, with great enthusiasm, welcoming the message of liberty.

I have a few thoughts as to why the people of a country like ours, once the freest and most
prosperous, allowed the conditions to deteriorate to the degree that they have.

Freedom, private property, and enforceable voluntary contracts, generate wealth. In our
early history we were very much aware of this. But in the early part of the 20th century
our politicians promoted the notion that the tax and monetary systems had to change
if we were to involve ourselves in excessive domestic and military spending. That is why
Congress gave us the Federal Reserve and the income tax. The majority of Americans and
many government officials agreed that sacrificing some liberty was necessary to carry out
what some claimed to be “progressive” ideas. Pure democracy became acceptable.

They failed to recognized that what they were doing was exactly opposite of what the
colonists were seeking when they broke away from the British.

Some complain that my arguments makes no sense, since great wealth and the standard of
living improved for many Americans over the last 100 years, even with these new policies.

But the damage to the market economy, and the currency, has been insidious and
steady. It took a long time to consume our wealth, destroy the currency and undermine
productivity and get our financial obligations to a point of no return. Confidence
sometimes lasts longer than deserved. Most of our wealth today depends on debt.

The wealth that we enjoyed and seemed to be endless, allowed concern for the principle
of a free society to be neglected. As long as most people believed the material abundance
would last forever, worrying about protecting a competitive productive economy and
individual liberty seemed unnecessary.

This neglect ushered in an age of redistribution of wealth by government kowtowing to any

and all special interests, except for those who just wanted to left alone. That is why today
money in politics far surpasses money currently going into research and development and
productive entrepreneurial efforts.

The material benefits became more important than the understanding and promoting the
principles of liberty and a free market. It is good that material abundance is a result of
liberty but if materialism is all that we care about, problems are guaranteed.

The crisis arrived because the illusion that wealth and prosperity would last forever has
ended. Since it was based on debt and a pretense that debt can be papered over by
an out-of-control fiat monetary system, it was doomed to fail. We have ended up with
a system that doesn’t produce enough even to finance the debt and no fundamental
understanding of why a free society is crucial to reversing these trends.

If this is not recognized, the recovery will linger for a long time. Bigger government, more
spending, more debt, more poverty for the middle class, and a more intense scramble by
the elite special interests will continue.

DollarVigilante.com 57

continued Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress

Without an intellectual awakening, the turning point will be driven by economic law. A
dollar crisis will bring the current out-of-control system to its knees.

If it’s not accepted that big government, fiat money, ignoring liberty, central economic
planning, welfarism, and warfarism caused our crisis we can expect a continuous and
dangerous march toward corporatism and even fascism with even more loss of our
liberties. Prosperity for a large middle class though will become an abstract dream.

This continuous move is no different than what we have seen in how our financial crisis
of 2008 was handled. Congress first directed, with bipartisan support, bailouts for the
wealthy. Then it was the Federal Reserve with its endless quantitative easing. If at first it
doesn’t succeed try again; QE1, QE2, and QE3 and with no results we try QE indefinitely
-- that is until it too fails. There’s a cost to all of this and let me assure you delaying the
payment is no longer an option. The rules of the market will extract its pound of flesh and
it won’t be pretty.

The current crisis elicits a lot of pessimism. And the pessimism adds to less confidence in
the future. The two feed on themselves, making our situation worse.

If the underlying cause of the crisis is not understood we cannot solve our problems. The
issues of warfare, welfare, deficits, inflationism, corporatism, bailouts and authoritarianism
cannot be ignored. By only expanding these policies we cannot expect good results.

Everyone claims support for freedom. But too often it’s for one’s own freedom and not for
others. Too many believe that there must be limits on freedom. They argue that freedom
must be directed and managed to achieve fairness and equality thus making it acceptable
to curtail, through force, certain liberties.

Some decide what and whose freedoms are to be limited. These are the politicians whose
goal in life is power. Their success depends on gaining support from special interests.

The great news is the answer is not to be found in more “isms.” The answers are to be
found in more liberty which cost so much less. Under these circumstances spending goes
down, wealth production goes up, and the quality of life improves.

Just this recognition -- especially if we move in this direction -- increases optimism which
in itself is beneficial. The follow through with sound policies are required which must be
understood and supported by the people.

But there is good evidence that the generation coming of age at the present time is supportive
of moving in the direction of more liberty and self-reliance. The more this change in direction
and the solutions become known, the quicker will be the return of optimism.

Our job, for those of us who believe that a different system than the one that we have had
for the last 100 years, has driven us to this unsustainable crisis, is to be more convincing that
there is a wonderful, uncomplicated, and moral system that provides the answers. We had a
taste of it in our early history. We need not give up on the notion of advancing this cause.

It worked, but we allowed our leaders to concentrate on the material abundance that
freedom generates, while ignoring freedom itself. Now we have neither, but the door is
open, out of necessity, for an answer. The answer available is based on the Constitution,
individual liberty and prohibiting the use of government force to provide privileges and
benefits to all special interests.

After over 100 years we face a society quite different from the one that was intended by
the Founders. In many ways their efforts to protect future generations with the Constitution
from this danger has failed. Skeptics, at the time the Constitution was written in 1787,
warned us of today’s possible outcome. The insidious nature of the erosion of our liberties
and the reassurance our great abundance gave us, allowed the process to evolve into the
dangerous period in which we now live.

Today we face a dependency on government largesse for almost every need. Our liberties are
restricted and government operates outside the rule of law, protecting and rewarding those
who buy or coerce government into satisfying their demands. Here are a few examples:

- Undeclared wars are commonplace.

- Welfare for the rich and poor is considered an entitlement.

- The economy is overregulated, overtaxed and grossly distorted by a deeply flawed

monetary system.

- Debt is growing exponentially.

- The Patriot Act and FISA legislation passed without much debate have resulted in a steady
erosion of our 4th Amendment rights.

- Tragically our government engages in preemptive war, otherwise known as aggression,

with no complaints from the American people.

- The drone warfare we are pursuing worldwide is destined to end badly for us as the hatred
builds for innocent lives lost and the international laws flaunted. Once we are financially
weakened and militarily challenged, there will be a lot resentment thrown our way.

- It’s now the law of the land that the military can arrest American citizens, hold them
indefinitely, without charges or a trial.

- Rampant hostility toward free trade is supported by a large number in Washington.

- Supporters of sanctions, currency manipulation and WTO trade retaliation, call the true
free traders “isolationists.”

- Sanctions are used to punish countries that don’t follow our orders.

- Bailouts and guarantees for all kinds of misbehavior are routine.

- Central economic planning through monetary policy, regulations and legislative

mandates has been an acceptable policy.

Excessive government has created such a mess it prompts many questions:

- Why are sick people who use medical marijuana put in prison?

- Why does the federal government restrict the drinking of raw milk?

- Why can’t Americans manufacturer rope and other products from hemp?

- Why are Americans not allowed to use gold and silver as legal tender as mandated by the
Constitution?

- Why is Germany concerned enough to consider repatriating their gold held by the FED
for her in New York? Is it that the trust in the U.S. and dollar supremacy beginning to wane?

- Why do our political leaders believe it’s unnecessary to thoroughly audit our own gold?

- Why can’t Americans decide which type of light bulbs they can buy?

- Why is the TSA permitted to abuse the rights of any American traveling by air?

- Why should there be mandatory sentences -- even up to life for crimes without victims --
as our drug laws require?

- Why have we allowed the federal government to regulate commodes in our homes?

- Why is it political suicide for anyone to criticize AIPAC ?

- Why haven’t we given up on the drug war since it’s an obvious failure and violates the
people’s rights? Has nobody noticed that the authorities can’t even keep drugs out of the
prisons? How can making our entire society a prison solve the problem?

- Why do we sacrifice so much getting needlessly involved in border disputes and civil

- Why does Congress willingly give up its prerogatives to the Executive Branch?

- Why does changing the party in power never change policy? Could it be that the views
of both parties are essentially the same?

- Why did the big banks, the large corporations, and foreign banks and foreign central

run it, rather than loyalty to the principles of liberty and support for the people? Real
patriotism is a willingness to challenge the government when it’s wrong.

- Why is it is claimed that if people won’t or can’t take care of their own needs, that people
in government can do it for them?

- Why does the use of religion to support a social gospel and preemptive wars, both of
which requires authoritarians to use violence, or the threat of violence, go unchallenged?
Aggression and forced redistribution of wealth has nothing to do with the teachings of the
world great religions.

- Why do we allow the government and the Federal Reserve to disseminate false information
dealing with both economic and foreign policy?

- Why is democracy held in such high esteem when it’s the enemy of the minority and makes
all rights relative to the dictates of the majority?

- Why should anyone be surprised that Congress has no credibility, since there’s such a
disconnect between what politicians say and what they do?

- Is there any explanation for all the deception, the unhappiness, the fear of the future,
the loss of confidence in our leaders, the distrust, the anger and frustration? Yes there is,
and there’s a way to reverse these attitudes. The negative perceptions are logical and a
consequence of bad policies bringing about our problems. Identification of the problems
and recognizing the cause allow the proper changes to come easy.

Too many people have for too long placed too much confidence and trust in government
and not enough in themselves. Fortunately, many are now becoming aware of the
seriousness of the gross mistakes of the past several decades. The blame is shared by both
political parties. Many Americans now are demanding to hear the plain truth of things and
want the demagoguing to stop. Without this first step, solutions are impossible.

Seeking the truth and finding the answers in liberty and self-reliance promotes the optimism
necessary for restoring prosperity. The task is not that difficult if politics doesn’t get in the
way.

We have allowed ourselves to get into such a mess for various reasons.

Politicians deceive themselves as to how wealth is produced. Excessive confidence is

placed in the judgment of politicians and bureaucrats. This replaces the confidence in a free
society. Too many in high places of authority became convinced that only they, armed with
arbitrary government power, can bring about fairness, while facilitating wealth production.
This always proves to be a utopian dream and destroys wealth and liberty. It impoverishes
the people and rewards the special interests who end up controlling both political parties.

It’s no surprise then that much of what goes on in Washington is driven by aggressive
partisanship and power seeking, with philosophic differences being minor.

Economic ignorance is commonplace. Keynesianism continues to thrive, although today

it is facing healthy and enthusiastic rebuttals. Believers in military Keynesianism and
domestic Keynesianism continue to desperately promote their failed policies, as the
economy languishes in a deep slumber.

Supporters of all government edicts use humanitarian arguments to justify them.

Humanitarian arguments are always used to justify government mandates related to the
economy, monetary policy, foreign policy, and personal liberty. This is on purpose to
make it more difficult to challenge. But, initiating violence for humanitarian reasons is still
violence. Good intentions are no excuse and are just as harmful as when people use force
with bad intentions. The results are always negative.

The immoral use of force is the source of man’s political problems. Sadly, many religious
groups, secular organizations, and psychopathic authoritarians endorse government
initiated force to change the world. Even when the desired goals are well-intentioned -- or
especially when well-intentioned -- the results are dismal. The good results sought never
materialize. The new problems created require even more government force as a solution.
The net result is institutionalizing government initiated violence and morally justifying it on
humanitarian grounds.

This is the same fundamental reason our government uses force for invading other
countries at will, central economic planning at home, and the regulation of personal liberty
and habits of our citizens.

It is rather strange, that unless one has a criminal mind and no respect for other people
and their property, no one claims it’s permissible to go into one’s neighbor’s house and tell
them how to behave, what they can eat, smoke and drink or how to spend their money.

Yet, rarely is it asked why it is morally acceptable that a stranger with a badge and a gun
can do the same thing in the name of law and order. Any resistance is met with brute
force, fines, taxes, arrests, and even imprisonment. This is done more frequently every day
without a proper search warrant.

Restraining aggressive behavior is one thing, but legalizing a government monopoly for
initiating aggression can only lead to exhausting liberty associated with chaos, anger and
the breakdown of civil society. Permitting such authority and expecting saintly behavior
from the bureaucrats and the politicians is a pipe dream. We now have a standing
army of armed bureaucrats in the TSA, CIA, FBI, Fish and Wildlife, FEMA, IRS, Corp of
Engineers, etc. numbering over 100,000. Citizens are guilty until proven innocent in the
unconstitutional administrative courts.

Government in a free society should have no authority to meddle in social activities or the
economic transactions of individuals. Nor should government meddle in the affairs of other
nations. All things peaceful, even when controversial, should be permitted.

We must reject the notion of prior restraint in economic activity just we do in the area of
free speech and religious liberty. But even in these areas government is starting to use a
backdoor approach of political correctness to regulate speech-a dangerous trend. Since
9/11 monitoring speech on the internet is now a problem since warrants are no longer
required.

The Constitution established four federal crimes. Today the experts can’t even agree on
how many federal crimes are now on the books -- they number into the thousands. No one
person can comprehend the enormity of the legal system -- especially the tax code. Due
to the ill-advised drug war and the endless federal expansion of the criminal code we have
over 6 million people under correctional suspension, more than the Soviets ever had, and
more than any other nation today, including China. I don’t understand the complacency
of the Congress and the willingness to continue their obsession with passing more Federal
laws. Mandatory sentencing laws associated with drug laws have compounded our prison
problems.

The federal register is now 75,000 pages long and the tax code has 72,000 pages, and
expands every year. When will the people start shouting, “enough is enough,” and demand
Congress cease and desist.

Liberty can only be achieved when government is denied the aggressive use of force. If one
seeks liberty, a precise type of government is needed. To achieve it, more than lip service is
required.

Two choices are available.

1. A government designed to protect liberty -- a natural right -- as its sole objective. The
people are expected to care for themselves and reject the use of any force for interfering
with another person’s liberty. Government is given a strictly limited authority to enforce
contracts, property ownership, settle disputes, and defend against foreign aggression.

2. A government that pretends to protect liberty but is granted power to arbitrarily use
force over the people and foreign nations. Though the grant of power many times is
meant to be small and limited, it inevitably metastasizes into an omnipotent political
cancer. This is the problem for which the world has suffered throughout the ages. Though
meant to be limited it nevertheless is a 100% sacrifice of a principle that would-be-tyrants
find irresistible. It is used vigorously -- though incrementally and insidiously. Granting
power to government officials always proves the adage that: “power corrupts.”

DollarVigilante.com 64

continued Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress

Once government gets a limited concession for the use of force to mold people habits
and plan the economy, it causes a steady move toward tyrannical government. Only a
revolutionary spirit can reverse the process and deny to the government this arbitrary use
of aggression. There’s no in-between. Sacrificing a little liberty for imaginary safety always
ends badly.

Today’s mess is a result of Americans accepting option #2, even though the Founders
attempted to give us Option #1.

The results are not good. As our liberties have been eroded our wealth has been
consumed. The wealth we see today is based on debt and a foolish willingness on the part
of foreigners to take our dollars for goods and services. They then loan them back to us to
perpetuate our debt system. It’s amazing that it has worked for this long but the impasse
in Washington, in solving our problems indicate that many are starting to understand the
seriousness of the world -wide debt crisis and the dangers we face. The longer this process
continues the harsher the outcome will be.

Many are now acknowledging that a financial crisis looms but few understand it’s, in reality, a
moral crisis. It’s the moral crisis that has allowed our liberties to be undermined and permits
the exponential growth of illegal government power. Without a clear understanding of
the nature of the crisis it will be difficult to prevent a steady march toward tyranny and the
poverty that will accompany it.

Ultimately, the people have to decide which form of government they want; option #1 or
option #2. There is no other choice. Claiming there is a choice of a “little” tyranny is like
describing pregnancy as a “touch of pregnancy.” It is a myth to believe that a mixture of free
markets and government central economic planning is a worthy compromise. What we see
today is a result of that type of thinking. And the results speak for themselves.

American now suffers from a culture of violence. It’s easy to reject the initiation of violence
against one’s neighbor but it’s ironic that the people arbitrarily and freely anoint government
officials with monopoly power to initiate violence against the American people -- practically
at will.

Because it’s the government that initiates force, most people accept it as being
legitimate. Those who exert the force have no sense of guilt. It is believed by too many
that governments are morally justified in initiating force supposedly to “do good.” They
incorrectly believe that this authority has come from the “consent of the people.” The
minority, or victims of government violence never consented to suffer the abuse of
government mandates, even when dictated by the majority. Victims of TSA excesses never
consented to this abuse.

DollarVigilante.com 65

continued Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress
This attitude has given us a policy of initiating war to “do good,” as well. It is claimed that war, to prevent
war for noble purposes, is justified. This is similar to what we were once told that: “destroying a village
to save a village” was justified. It was said by a US Secretary of State that the loss of 500,000 Iraqis,
mostly children, in the 1990s, as a result of American bombs and sanctions, was “worth it” to achieve
the “good” we brought to the Iraqi people. And look at the mess that Iraq is in today.

Government use of force to mold social and economic behavior at home and abroad has
justified individuals using force on their own terms. The fact that violence by government is
seen as morally justified, is the reason why violence will increase when the big financial crisis
hits and becomes a political crisis as well.

First, we recognize that individuals shouldn’t initiate violence, then we give the authority to
government. Eventually, the immoral use of government violence, when things goes badly,
will be used to justify an individual’s “right” to do the same thing. Neither the government nor
individuals have the moral right to initiate violence against another yet we are moving toward the
day when both will claim this authority. If this cycle is not reversed society will break down.

When needs are pressing, conditions deteriorate and rights become relative to the demands
and the whims of the majority. It’s then not a great leap for individuals to take it upon
themselves to use violence to get what they claim is theirs. As the economy deteriorates and
the wealth discrepancies increase -- as are already occurring -- violence increases as those
in need take it in their own hands to get what they believe is theirs. They will not wait for a
government rescue program.

When government officials wield power over others to bail out the special interests, even with
disastrous results to the average citizen, they feel no guilt for the harm they do. Those who take
us into undeclared wars with many casualties resulting, never lose sleep over the death and
destruction their bad decisions caused. They are convinced that what they do is morally justified,
and the fact that many suffer just can’t be helped.

When the street criminals do the same thing, they too have no remorse, believing they are only taking
what is rightfully theirs. All moral standards become relative. Whether it’s bailouts, privileges, government
subsidies or benefits for some from inflating a currency, it’s all part of a process justified by a philosophy of
forced redistribution of wealth. Violence, or a threat of such, is the instrument required and unfortunately is
of little concern of most members of Congress.

Some argue it’s only a matter of “fairness” that those in need are cared for. There are two
problems with this. First, the principle is used to provide a greater amount of benefits to the rich
than the poor. Second, no one seems to be concerned about whether or not it’s fair to those who
end up paying for the benefits. The costs are usually placed on the backs of the middle class and
are hidden from the public eye. Too many people believe government handouts are free, like
printing money out of thin air, and there is no cost. That deception is coming to an end. The bills
are coming due and that’s what the economic slowdown is all about.

Sadly, we have become accustomed to living with the illegitimate use of force by government.
It is the tool for telling the people how to live, what to eat and drink, what to read and how to
spend their money.

To develop a truly free society, the issue of initiating force must be understood and rejected.
Granting to government even a small amount of force is a dangerous concession.

Our Constitution, which was intended to limit government power and abuse, has failed. The
Founders warned that a free society depends on a virtuous and moral people. The current
crisis reflects that their concerns were justified.

Most politicians and pundits are aware of the problems we face but spend all their time in
trying to reform government. The sad part is that the suggested reforms almost always lead
to less freedom and the importance of a virtuous and moral people is either ignored, or not
understood. The new reforms serve only to further undermine liberty. The compounding
effect has given us this steady erosion of liberty and the massive expansion of debt. The real
question is: if it is liberty we seek, should most of the emphasis be placed on government
reform or trying to understand what “a virtuous and moral people” means and how to
promote it. The Constitution has not prevented the people from demanding handouts for
both rich and poor in their efforts to reform the government, while ignoring the principles of a
free society. All branches of our government today are controlled by individuals who use their
power to undermine liberty and enhance the welfare/warfare state-and frequently their own
wealth and power.

If the people are unhappy with the government performance it must be recognized that
government is merely a reflection of an immoral society that rejected a moral government of
constitutional limitations of power and love of freedom.

If this is the problem all the tinkering with thousands of pages of new laws and regulations.

It is self-evident that our freedoms have been severely limited and the apparent prosperity
we still have, is nothing more than leftover wealth from a previous time. This fictitious wealth
based on debt and benefits from a false trust in our currency and credit, will play havoc with
our society when the bills come due. This means that the full consequence of our lost liberties
is yet to be felt.

But that illusion is now ending. Reversing a downward spiral depends on accepting a new
approach.

Expect the rapidly expanding homeschooling movement to play a significant role in the
revolutionary reforms needed to build a free society with Constitutional protections. We
cannot expect a Federal government controlled school system to provide the intellectual
ammunition to combat the dangerous growth of government that threatens our liberties.

The internet will provide the alternative to the government/media complex that controls the
news and most political propaganda. This is why it’s essential that the internet remains free
of government regulation.

Many of our religious institutions and secular organizations support greater dependency
on the state by supporting war, welfare and corporatism and ignore the need for a virtuous
people.

I never believed that the world or our country could be made more free by politicians, if the
people had no desire for freedom.

Under the current circumstances the most we can hope to achieve in the political process
is to use it as a podium to reach the people to alert them of the nature of the crisis and the
importance of their need to assume responsibility for themselves, if it is liberty that they truly
seek. Without this, a constitutionally protected free society is impossible.

If this is true, our individual goal in life ought to be for us to seek virtue and excellence and
recognize that self-esteem and happiness only comes from using one’s natural ability, in the
most productive manner possible, according to one’s own talents.

Productivity and creativity are the true source of personal satisfaction. Freedom, and not
dependency, provides the environment needed to achieve these goals. Government cannot
do this for us; it only gets in the way. When the government gets involved, the goal becomes
a bailout or a subsidy and these cannot provide a sense of personal achievement.

Achieving legislative power and political influence should not be our goal. Most of the
change, if it is to come, will not come from the politicians, but rather from individuals, family,
friends, intellectual leaders and our religious institutions. The solution can only come from
rejecting the use of coercion, compulsion, government commands, and aggressive force,
to mold social and economic behavior. Without accepting these restraints, inevitably the
consensus will be to allow the government to mandate economic equality and obedience to
the politicians who gain power and promote an environment that smothers the freedoms of
everyone. It is then that the responsible individuals who seek excellence and self-esteem by
being self-reliance and productive, become the true victims.

What are the greatest dangers that the American people face today and impede the goal of
a free society? There are five.

1. The continuous attack on our civil liberties which threatens the rule of law and our ability
to resist the onrush of tyranny.

DollarVigilante.com 68
in closing
continued Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress
2. Violent anti-Americanism that has engulfed the world. Because the phenomenon of
“blow-back” is not understood or denied, our foreign policy is destined to keep us involved
in many wars that we have no business being in. National bankruptcy and a greater threat to
our national security will result.

3. The ease in which we go to war, without a declaration by Congress, but accepting

international authority from the UN or NATO even for preemptive wars, otherwise known as
aggression.

4. A financial political crisis as a consequence of excessive debt, unfunded liabilities,

spending, bailouts, and gross discrepancy in wealth distribution going from the middle
class to the rich. The danger of central economic planning, by the Federal Reserve must be
understood.

5. World government taking over local and US sovereignty by getting involved in the
issues of war, welfare, trade, banking,; a world currency, taxes, property ownership, and
private ownership of guns.

Happily, there is an answer for these very dangerous trends.

What a wonderful world it would be if everyone accepted the simple moral premise of
rejecting all acts of aggression. The retort to such a suggestion is always: it’s too simplistic,
too idealistic, impractical, naïve, utopian, dangerous, and unrealistic to strive for such an ideal.

The answer to that is that for thousands of years the acceptance of government force, to rule
over the people, at the sacrifice of liberty, was considered moral and the only available option
for achieving peace and prosperity.

What could be more utopian than that myth -- considering the results especially looking at the
state sponsored killing, by nearly every government during the 20th Century, estimated to be
in the hundreds of millions. It’s time to reconsider this grant of authority to the state.

No good has ever come from granting monopoly power to the state to use aggression against
the people to arbitrarily mold human behavior. Such power, when left unchecked, becomes
the seed of an ugly tyranny. This method of governance has been adequately tested, and the
results are in: reality dictates we try liberty.

The idealism of non-aggression and rejecting all offensive use of force should be tried. The
idealism of government sanctioned violence has been abused throughout history and is
the primary source of poverty and war. The theory of a society being based on individual
freedom has been around for a long time. It’s time to take a bold step and actually permit it
by advancing this cause, rather than taking a step backwards as some would like us to do.

Today the principle of habeas corpus, established when King John signed the Magna Carta
in 1215, is under attack. There’s every reason to believe that a renewed effort with the use of
the internet that we can instead advance the cause of liberty by spreading an uncensored
message that will serve to rein in government authority and challenge the obsession with
war and welfare.

What I’m talking about is a system of government guided by the moral principles of peace
and tolerance.

The Founders were convinced that a free society could not exist without a moral people.
Just writing rules won’t work if the people choose to ignore them. Today the rule of law
written in the Constitution has little meaning for most Americans, especially those who work
in Washington D.C.

Benjamin Franklin claimed “only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.” John Adams
concurred: “Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly
inadequate to the government of any other.”

A moral people must reject all violence in an effort to mold people’s beliefs or habits.

A society that boos or ridicules the Golden Rule is not a moral society. All great religions
endorse the Golden Rule. The same moral standards that individuals are required to follow
should apply to all government officials. They cannot be exempt.

The ultimate solution is not in the hands of the government.

The solution falls on each and every individual, with guidance from family, friends and
community.

The #1 responsibility for each of us is to change ourselves with hope that others will follow.
This is of greater importance than working on changing the government; that is secondary
to promoting a virtuous society. If we can achieve this, then the government will change.

It doesn’t mean that political action or holding office has no value. At times it does nudge
policy in the right direction. But what is true is that when seeking office is done for personal
aggrandizement, money or power, it becomes useless if not harmful. When political action
is taken for the right reasons it’s easy to understand why compromise should be avoided. It
also becomes clear why progress is best achieved by working with coalitions, which bring
people together, without anyone sacrificing his principles.

Political action, to be truly beneficial, must be directed toward changing the hearts and
minds of the people, recognizing that it’s the virtue and morality of the people that allow
liberty to flourish.

DollarVigilante.com 70

continued Ron Paul’s 2012 Fck Off Speech To Congress
The Constitution or more laws per se, have no value if the people’s attitudes aren’t changed.

To achieve liberty and peace, two powerful human emotions have to be overcome. Number
one is “envy” which leads to hate and class warfare. Number two is “intolerance” which leads
to bigoted and judgmental policies. These emotions must be replaced with a much better
understanding of love, compassion, tolerance and free market economics. Freedom, when
understood, brings people together. When tried, freedom is popular.

The problem we have faced over the years has been that economic interventionists are
swayed by envy, whereas social interventionists are swayed by intolerance of habits and
lifestyles. The misunderstanding that tolerance is an endorsement of certain activities,
motivates many to legislate moral standards which should only be set by individuals making
their own choices. Both sides use force to deal with these misplaced emotions. Both are
authoritarians. Neither endorses voluntarism. Both views ought to be rejected.

I have come to one firm conviction after these many years of trying to figure out “the plain
truth of things.” The best chance for achieving peace and prosperity, for the maximum
number of people world-wide, is to pursue the cause of Liberty.

If you find this to be a worthwhile message, spread it throughout the land.

And I yield back the balance of my time.
