 Pupils are asked to identify the mixture being described by the teacher.
- ice cream
- mayonnaise
 Have you tasted an ice cream? How about the mayonnaise?
 Describe the appearance of the ice cream and mayonnaise.
 What is common between them?
Activity  Pupils are grouped.
 Each group is given a piece of paper where instructions about the activity are
written.

Analysis  What are the substances you have mixed together?
 Which of the mixtures have the same characteristics and which one is different from
the rest?
Abstraction  What do you call a mixture wherein particles don’t settle at the bottom but just
dispersed in the liquid, scatters light and appears cloudy?
 Give examples of colloids you used at home.
 How important is colloid in our daily existence?

Teacher will ask the pupils to watch a short video about colloids.

Application  Teacher will show a chart where different mixtures are written.
 Pupils will identify which of the following mixtures are colloid.

Assessment Unknown to the pupils, teacher hid a piece of paper under their arm chair where three
mixtures are written. They are going to read the three mixtures and identify among them
which one is colloid.
Assignment Circle the colloid in each group of mixtures below.

Problem: What are the characteristics of a colloid and its uses?

Materials:
Milk, flour, water, cups, spoon

Procedure:

1. Prepare all the materials needed for the activity.


2. Mix the following materials below in a cup:
- milk and water
- flour and water
- sugar and water
3. Stir each mixture well using a spoon.
4. Observe the mixtures.

Observations:
