Abstract:

This paper tries to analyse the condominium housing program in Addis Ababa from the angles of
affordability and suitability for the low income group of the city. In this paper the main focus will
be to study how the current huge housing program in the city has considered the socio-economic
and cultural conditions of the society to live in the high rise and multi-family condominium houses.
It will also try to see mechanisms which help the community to adopt these kinds of houses to their
needs. Meskel Flower and Temenja Yaj sites which are located at the city center are used as a
case sites for this study.
