Berkshire Hathaway Sustainability Leadership Council

The Berkshire Hathaway Sustainability Leadership Council (SLC) is an autonomous group of

representatives from Berkshire Hathaway companies committed to championing the
sustainability efforts of their organizations and serving as a resource to other Berkshire
Hathaway subsidiaries as they create and execute their respective sustainability strategies.
Purpose of the SLC: Responsibilities of the SLC Outcomes:
▪ Share sustainability strategies members: ▪ 8 sustainability summits held;
▪ Advance best practices on ▪ Council members actively 600 participants in 2020
sustainability and ESG-related participate in monthly calls and ▪ Produced Sustainability 101
areas one in-person meeting content for companies
▪ Provide subject matter ▪ Contribute resources and time ▪ 14 companies represented on
expertise required to achieve the the SLC
▪ Support development of objectives of the Council ▪ Companies have committed to
resource library ▪ Champion efforts and Science Based Targets initiative,
▪ Identify and communicate achievements of subsidiary net zero greenhouse gas
emerging sustainability issues companies emissions, set internal emission
▪ Plan sustainability-related ▪ Encourage engagement from all reduction targets, advanced
events, including annual Berkshire subsidiaries on sustainable fuels, reduced water
sustainability summit for sustainable practices usage and enhanced efficiency,
Berkshire companies ▪ Chair maintains interface with reducing impacts and risks and
Berkshire Hathaway identifying opportunities
