Written Reflection
I went home and started all of my homework and kept AP World History studying for
the end because I wanted the most time. I started studying around 9:30 and went to
sleep around 12:30 which left me 3 hour time to study. First I took the Amsco book and
started analyzing the back of each section so I get a brief overview of what to learn later
on in the study session. Then I proceeded to follow some of your tips and watched
Heimler and that took me one hour without taking notes. I took additional summary
notes watching Heimler so I could quiz myself later. Then after that, I spent most of my 3
hours looking at the AP classroom and going over the practice progress checks. That
made me feel pumped up as I felt like I was getting the real taste of the stimulus taste. So
I went to sleep and one of my mistakes was not getting enough sleep as I also had a zero
period test which made me nervous along with this big history one. I study all the topics
but stimulus always makes me nervous because I can get a bad score even if I know all
the topics I need to be a very good test taker which I feel like I am not. During the test, I
blanked out many times as I ended up staring at the questions just lost and some
questions I answered in like 15 seconds but that made me very doubtful of my answer so
I started to second guess myself which made me more nervous. During the test, I was
also having a really bad stomach ache and I tried to push through it but it was too big of a
distraction. I think it was because I was super nervous and also was thinking about the
result more than the actual test. I was also worried about other tests I had that day
which was very stupid of me because I was not locked in, in the present moment which
makes me angry looking back on it. I was pretty satisfied with my timing but overall I am
not at all one bit satisfied with the stimulus test and how I did. Next time I will study
maybe a couple of days slowly and not cram like I did this time. I will also try to be calmer
while studying because I had many ups and downs during my study sessions and even at
one point was almost crying because I was just constantly thinking about the test the
day before. This can easily be avoided as I just have to get calmer under pressure. I will
set up a good amount of time for history and hopefully do better next time.

Directions: Using the formats below, analyze the following

● Two answers you got correct.
● 3 of the questions you got incorrect

Victory analysis
Choose TWO (2) questions you got right to analyze.

#1
1) What was the question? Paste it here.

2) What was your answer? Why did you choose it? Explain your reasoning.

The opening line stood out to me which made me immediately think of this
answer and also talks about how sending a man to slavery will steal everything he
has of him which made it clear to me that the main audience was people of color.

3) Did you learn anything from writing the explanation of the correct answer?

I learned that looking at the little description at the bottom right could have
helped even more and also I realised that I just deeply need to analyze each
question and be confident with my anwer.

4) Now, put yourself in the minds of the AP exam makers. Which option(s) do
you think were the "obviously wrong" choices? Which option(s) were the
distractors? For each, explain either why it was wrong or why it was the
distractor (close, but not correct).

Wrong:

Judges and lawyers

This is wrong because the passage never stated anything particular to this and
also is almost talking about the exact opposite set of people.

Distractor:

The French nobility

This is a distractor because the description at the bottom right says French philosopher
which will make the test taker think tht the anser is the French nobles but you have to
read more carefully into the passage.

#2
1) What was the question? Paste it here.

2) What was your answer? Why did you choose it? Explain your reasoning.

I chose my anser because the enitre passage was talking about how the rights
are not fair for people of color and how they are getting al there rights taken
away when they are enslaved. This is clearly Enlightenment ideals and I chose
that one because it is the one that best fits.

3) Did you learn anything from writing the explanation of the correct answer?

I did not learn much other that what I said in the previous question but again
just have to be more focused hen picking the questions and this time it was a
straight forward question.

4) Now, put yourself in the minds of the AP exam makers. Which option(s) do
you think were the "obviously wrong" choices? Which option(s) were the
distractors? For each, explain either why it was wrong or why it was the
distractor (close, but not correct).
Wrong:

Capitalism

This answer is wrong because in the passage nor the footnote talked about any sort of
money and investment and purely just non equal rights. Also there was nothing
mentioned about economic or political systems.

Distractor:

Absolutism

I can see this being a distractor because I guess absolutism is the belief in an idea and
technically this belief but wrong type as this Enlightenment was a much bigger
movement and fit better for the question.

Growth analysis
Use this section for THREE (3) questions you got wrong.

#1
1) What was the question? Paste it here.

2) What was your answer? Why did you choose it? Explain your reasoning.

I chose my answer because I kind of had the wrong thought process as I thought
that the flow of indentured servants went from Latin America to East Asia and it
was in fact in reverse so I thought this was an essay questions and it was all
because of one mistake in studying.

3) What was the correct answer? What did you learn from reading about and
writing the correct answer?

The correct answer was: European settlers choosing freely to emigrate from Europe

This was the correct answer because Europe was an important area for people to
emigrate for job opportunities and better life and I learned from my answer that I
have to read the question more closely and take in the information from the
question with pictures like this one with a map.

4) Now, put yourself in the minds of the AP exam makers. Which two options
do you think were the "obviously wrong" choices? Which was the distractor?
For each, either explain why it was wrong or why it was the distractor (close,
but not correct).
Wrong:
Spanish peninsulares fleeing back to Spain

This is clearly wrong because of the fact that it is in the completely different time
frame as this happened early 19th century and the question was talking about late
19th century.

Enslaved people arriving from Africa

This is also wrong because the map never shows anything like this and this was a
filler question as it was a wrong one.

Distractor:

Argentinian indentured servants looking for work in East Asia

I think the one I chose was the distractor as it seemed very correct if you know your stuff
about history but if you don’t read close enough the answer was to work in East Asia
and not leaving East Asia and this was the same thing that stumped me.

#2
1) What was the question? Paste it here.
2) What was your answer? Why did you choose it? Explain your reasoning.
I chose answer because I thought this passage was directed to abolitionalists but
it was in fact not and If I studied a bit more I wouldv’e realised that abolitionists
actually did not like this idea by Person so I was completely wrong.

3) What was the correct answer? What did you learn from reading about and
writing the correct answer?

The correct answer was : European states’ competition to acquire overseas colonies

The passage was actually pro slavery almost and it had that type of intent. So tis
ansswer perfectly fits because the Europeans wanted to go overseas and aquire
some African and Asian people to do work for them which makes them inferior to
others. I realised this question was really easy and I just needed a little bit more
processing and should not have clicked my anser right awayas ti was very wrong.
I can learn from this to read each anser carefully and make sure it answers the
question.

4) Now, put yourself in the minds of the AP exam makers. Which two options
do you think were the "obviously wrong" choices? Which was the distractor?
For each, either explain why it was wrong or why it was the distractor (close,
but not correct).

Wrong:
The abolitionist movement to end slavery

I chose the clearly wrong one as this is wrong because the entire passage was
talking about the exact opposite of what actually this answer was. The passage
was supporting slavery and had that type of language.

Efforts by European missionaries……for their spiritual salvation

This is also the other clearly wrong one because it distracts the reader from the
actual questions and correct answer because it is again like the other questions a
completely different answer. It does not meet the time frame or the actual
question.

Distractor:

The creation of industrialized economies in Europe

Although this might seem like the correct answer and many people from the late 19th
entury would agree with the statements made in the passage, this industrialization did
not come from the idea of Social Darwinism which is what the passage is about.

#3
1) What was the question? Paste it here.

2) What was your answer? Why did you choose it? Explain your reasoning.
My answer was about European companies establishing overseas trading posts
and I chose it because I remember the Dutch first explored North Australia but I
completely ignored the time frame as that was from 17th century and this
question was from 1900.

3) What was the correct answer? What did you learn from reading about and
writing the correct answer?

The correct answer is: European states’ establishment of settler colonies

This is correct because Australia was established as a settler colony in Britain

and this answer fits perfectly with the question asking for the founding of the
Austalia nation. I realised some questions are straightforward if you know a lot of
background information I did not go into the test with this knowledge and if I had it
it would have been useful.

4) Now, put yourself in the minds of the AP exam makers. Which two options
do you think were the "obviously wrong" choices? Which was the distractor?
For each, either explain why it was wrong or why it was the distractor (close,
but not correct).

Wrong:
Japan’s creation of its own empire in Asia

This is wrong because the passage first never states anything related to this but
also Japan never even conquered Australia and the answer doesnt correctly
respond to the question.

The creation of mercantilist empires to extract natural resources

Australia was never founded for the only purpose to extract natural resources and
had many other like the passage stated and this one is off topic and to the reader
is clearly wrong.

Distractor:

European companies’ establishment of overseas trading posts

This was a distractor because this question is gleeming and shining and everything
seems factual about this question because the Dutch explored Northern Australia, but
the time frame was completely different which is one major thing to always note.
