Actix DV for Agilent Overview

Actix DV for Agilent is an advanced software solution that enables fast, accurate visualization and analysis of information collected by drive test equipment. Engineers tasked with performing localized diagnostics and optimization on GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS CDMA2000 and EV-DO wireless networks are empowered to achieve their goals through a carefully designed user interface and powerful underlying data analysis technology. Detailed knowledge of drive test equipment and the environment in which it is used has enabled the design of a solution that will exceed expectations and significantly improve productivity. User-controlled software views enable all of the appropriate information to be displayed on screen in easy-to-read tables, charts and maps that have been tailored for this application. Built-in features such as protocol stack browsing and drill-down enable specific events to be diagnosed in detail within the same intuitive user environment, whilst a range of standardized reports present useful KPIs and other measurements for multiple days of data. Actix DV for Agilent features a unique event navigator view which displays a timeline of the events recorded in the drive test data. Forwards and backwards "replay" of the logfile enables instant identification and analysis of key events within the file without the need for sequential analysis. This feature alone can significantly enhance the user's ability to quickly identify and solve particular problems, often within minutes of the drive test being completed. Actix and Agilent have worked together to deliver this solution based upon ActixVision, a powerful and flexible data processing and statistical analysis engine which is at the heart of all Actix solutions. Using advanced software technology and industry knowledge developed over many

years and fully proven in the field, ActixVision supports incoming data streams from all network technologies, and provides the software application layer with key analysis facilities such as KPI extraction through event-aware processing and multi-dimensional querying and binning. This technology, coupled with Agilents industry expertise, has produced a market leading solution for the visualization and diagnosis of network performance information.

System requirements
This section defines the recommended and minimum system requirements for successfully running Actix DV for Agilent. If you install DV on a system that does not meet the recommended configuration requirements, you may experience the following limitations:

You may be unable to process large amounts of data. You may experience delays when trying to perform certain tasks. You may not be able to take advantage of some mapping capabilities. DVs advanced correlation and analysis capabilities may not perform as desired.

Recommended system configuration

Processor (CPU) Operating System Memory (RAM) Pentium III 700-MHz or higher. Microsoft Windows XP. 512 Megabytes.

Available Hard Disk Space 15 Gigabytes (about 80MB for DV; most of this space is for drive test data files, map information, and virtual memory needs). Note A paging file size of at least 1 GB is recommended on Windows 2000 and NT systems. You can set the paging file size by modifying the System properties from the Windows Control Panel.

Whats new in 2.1?

Handset, Scanner, and Data Support

DV automatically correlates devices for you, allowing quick multiple source visualization and analysis. If a single instance of a handset, scanner, and/or data device exists in a datafile, DV assumes that these should be correlated. If multiple instances of any device type exist in a datafile, DV will rely on user-defined labels that can be added in the E6474 (Nitro) software. Identical labels should be used on all devices that require correlation. Correlated devices will show up as a single item in the console view (see below).

Replay Panel
Replay panel

The Replay panel is used to control the playback of the log file, starting from the beginning of the file and displaying the data message by message, either one message per click of the inner buttons or playing through the messages using the outer buttons, at a speed set using the sliding control. This allows variable-speed, bi-directional playback, and can also be used to step single messages.

General

Known Issues

Actix DV automatically synchronizes CDMA handset and PN Scanner measurements that were made on the same frequency at the same time. When the handset is in idle mode, DV may incorrectly determine the handsets frequency and, as a result, synchronize incorrectly with PN Scanner measurements during these times. Matching cellref data is required to properly show the handoff state in UMTS data. Downlink TFI information for Nitro 8 files captured using a Nokia 6230 handset is not displayed, as the information is not available in the .sd5 file the RMAC messaging containing the DL TFI information from the Nokia 6230 is not captured by Nitro 8 and thus not visible in DV.

Actix shortcuts

Some Actix shortcuts are not removed from the Windows Start menu on an upgrade.

Charts

The Chart's Attributes icon does not respond to changes to the Toolbar size. When changing the Preferences option to deselect "Use Small Toolbars", the chart Attributes icon does not change at all. It should update with text as with all other toolbar icons.

Console

The console defaults to showing details on the last stream loaded rather than the defaulting to the first. No console report will show up for data devices and scanners that are not correlated to handsets.

Event Navigator

Data views that are docked do not open properly when saved in a workspace, but appear compressed to the left. To correct the view, simply refresh the window.

Protocol Stack Browser

All the Layer 3 protocol messages are displayed as UPLINK.

Reports

The FTP GET report also shows FTP PUT results and vice versa. Rx Power should be part of CDMA Radio Link Distribution window. The WAMS tests should be separated because they have measurement names in common, and it is not possible to identify which WAMS test the measurement refers to.

Workspaces

Workspaces saved in DV2.0 do not open properly in DV2.1. The map is empty and it is not possible to add any further attributes. Also, the console report says 'page cannot be found'. There is an extra stream in the stream selector pane.
