elcome to the Legend Of Zelda! This story Wiser tee heroics of ink, yous adventurer from the land of Hyrule, who has taken on the task of rescuing the Princess Zelda from the heinous Ganon. Hyrule used to be a peaceful land, ruled by the Princess, reared his ugly head and sent hi: the world to wreak havoc and destruction. Ganon has also kidnapped the Princess, and only one who has enough courage to rescue her! He has travelled far and wide across country, battling numerous monsters and gaining the help of many unlikely allies, finally reaching Ganon’s fortress. He knows that the Princess is held inside —he also knows that there will be a titanic strug- gle before he can rescue her. You can help Link by joining him on this special edition comic-book adventure, rescuing Zelda from the grasp of Ganon and freeing Hyrule from his te in the process! You start the adventure at the top of the next page; read through until you have to help Link make a decision, Once you have made the decision, turn directly to the panel indicated to ise you'll ruin the adventure! Only read a panel indicated by an arrow or when instructed after you've made a decision. Good luck! OKAY, GANON HERE I COME READY OR NOT! LOOKS LIKE GANON SET UP A WELCOMING PARTY OF WIZZROBES! WOAAH! THIS IS NO WAY TO GREET A GUEST! He sure has! Wizzrobes are dangerous and magical creatures. Link needs to be careful! Lying next to the door, Link sees a lamp and a boomerang, Knowing an adventurer must travel light, he decides to take just one of the items. 'D BETTER BE QUICK, ZELDA 1S WAITING Take the boomerang — proceed to panel 20 (page 8). Take the lamp — go to panel 13 (page 6). Well done — you've made it across in one piece — which was more than could be said for the bridge. But now, looking back, Link sees that the bridge has magically re-appeared, with the bag of gold still lying in the centre. Dare he go back and check it out? If you wish to try for the pouch then head to panel 30 (page 11). If you would rather go on penniless then head on to panel 8 below. Suddenly one of the Wizzrobes’ L, extinguishes 4 the light! You're doing well, but there's still no time to relax — Ganon could be just around the next corner! Advance through the next door by going on to panel 27 (page 10), but beware — there could be other dangers lurking! In such a dim light, Link doesn’t stand a chance against creatures of darkness. Pummeled to a pulp, he fallls, thinking only of Zelda... Your adventure has come to an end... or maybe it’s only just begin ning? Check out the back page for what to do next! Link comes to two different doors, one old and battered, the other gleaming in the torchlight. His new found keys already look like a god send! Which should Link take? SOMEBODY'S BEEN CARELESS! THESE WILL DEFINITELY PROVE HANDY! Continuing through a door and down a long corridor, Link comes across a set of discarded keys. IT LOOKS LIKE GANON’S NOT KEEN ON REPAIRS! If you choose the golden door, move on to panel 32 (page 11) If you prefer the look of the other » }) door, go to panel 21 (page 8). Link quietly enters the room, thrusting the light right in the faces of the Wizzrobes. They back off, and Link sees his chance to attack! _] The Wizzrobes, stunned by the bright light of Link’s lamp, prove no match B for the might of shield and sword. Score one to you! - Good guess! A pit opens up beneath the skeletons and they go toppling down! KO I'D BETTER HURRY BEFORE SOME MORE OF GANON’S GOONS CATCH UP! THEY SURE DON’T MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TO! Link leaps into the room, boomerang at the ready. Just ‘as he is about to unleash his attack, the Wizzrobes stir into action, approaching menacing- ly. The room grows ever dimmer; the torch in the corner flickers, Ifyou think you can defeat ‘threatening to cast the whole the Wizzrobes, head on to room into darkness! \ panel 9 (page 4). If you prefer to see what you're doing, go and get the lamp BEGONE YOU ' and return to the room on FACELESS FIENDS! panel 13 (page c Link goes through the T WONDER WHERE THE door, and finds himself OTHER DOOR LEADS? at one end of a creaking old bridge. Across on the other side is another door, yet below is a deep, cavernous drop. It looks very unsafe — dare you cross or should you try the other door? If you have a head for heights and choose to cross the bridge then go to panel 17 (page 7). If you'd rather try the other door then proceed to panel 32 (page 11). SOMEHOW I DON’T THINK THAT GANON WILL FALL INTO ONE OF HIS OWN TRAPS LIKE THOSE SKELETONS! With the flick of the switch the wall suddenly gives way and Link The wall closes, leaving Link with a rather sore head! He finds himself lying next to two familiar doors — it looks like he'll have to retrace some of his steps! Head back to panel 12 (page 5). oS Swiftly, Link moves on into the next room, sensing that Ganon and the i Princess are ne¢ 7 Without warning, a mystical breeze causes the door to slowly shut. Link needs to make a swift decision — will he take the silver arrow or the quiver? Once NOT AS UGLY AS THESE SKELETONS! SS Q TY » Without warning, the door A I GUESS NOT! DON’T slams and Link is suddenly YOU GUYS EVER QUIT? ‘ ambushed by a barrage of ‘ screeching Staflos Skeletons! = Link is beaten back into a corner as the skeletons advance. The pitfall switches on the wall look like his only choice. But which should he pull? To pull switch one, advance to panel 22 (Page 9). Pull switch two by going to panel 40 (page 13). Alternatively, pull switch three by going to panel 15 (page 6). These skeletons outnumber Link three to one! The situation looks ugly... i LA ae i” BE BEATEN BY A BUNCH OF RATTLING BONES! It doesn’t pay to take the money and not run! Your comic- book adventure ends here — check out the back page to see how to take Link on a new adventure! Link stoops to grab the ‘bag, but the bridge starts to give way all round him! That was not a good choice... Entering the golden door, Link sees riches beyond his wildest dreams... or something suddenly pulls Something stronger than Link is holding the the door shut door shut — try as he might, Link cannot tight! break it open. He’s doomed with only the lost treasure for company. What a way to go! The switch caused a trapdoor to open beneath Link, sending him plummeting down a seemingly endless pit. There is a bottom — you don’t want to be around to hear the crunch though, so check out Link's other adventures on the back page! Ganon appears, looming menacingly above Link, grasping the Princess. The fate of the whole of Hyrule now rests firmly on your shoulders — your final battle has arrived. Ganon’s big, ugly and almost invincible — yet there maybe something in your arsenal that can defeat him. You can't fight at close quarters just in case you harm the Princess so you'll have to use those arrows instead. If you collected the quiver then advance to panel 43 (page 14). If you managed to get the silver arrow then proceed to panel 47 (page 15). oa) tem eS Link reaches for his arrows and fires them towards ONLY FOR YOU LINK, YOU COURAGEOUS , or eee ee, FOOL! ps ACHE arrows cannot penetrate Ganon's tough hide. Ganon prepares to strike back... TIME TO TAKE COVER, GANON — THIS GAME’S OVER! Ganon launches a powerful spell towards Link, which no shield could ever hope to deflect. Link is gone and the hope of all Hyrule with him. Who now can save the once peaceful land from Ganon? The Princess looks like she'll ve life as a captive, a slave to Ganon. You came close, but no prize. Still, turn the page and you'll discover more about Link's video game exploits. Who knows, you may be successful next time... Link strings his only arrow. His aim will need to be true as this is his only chance to defeat Ganon! NICE TO BE APPRECIATED! YOU TOOK YOUR TIME! Well done! You've done the impossible and defeated the evil ruler. Now Hyrule will be able to rest easy once again, in the knowledge that the tyrant has been defeated. As for Link and the Princess? Well, their troubles are over for now, but you never know with Ganon — he has this habit of returning when you least expect it!
