‭ ince‬ ‭we‬ ‭do‬ ‭not‬‭meet‬‭the‬‭requirements‬‭for‬‭parametric‬‭testing,‬‭we‬‭will‬‭be‬‭employing‬‭nonparametric‬‭tests‬‭to‬

S
‭analyze‬ ‭our‬ ‭data—‬ ‭Nonparametric‬ ‭tests‬ ‭suit‬ ‭our‬ ‭data‬ ‭because‬ ‭our‬ ‭data‬ ‭is‬ ‭non-normal‬ ‭and‬ ‭ordinal.‬ ‭As‬
‭evidenced‬‭by‬‭the‬‭mean‬‭of‬‭the‬‭skewness‬‭and‬‭kurtosis‬‭of‬‭our‬‭data‬‭shown‬‭in‬‭Table‬‭1,‬‭our‬‭data‬‭does‬‭not‬‭follow‬‭a‬
‭normal‬‭distribution‬‭curve‬‭given‬‭that‬‭normally‬‭distributed‬‭data‬‭would‬‭have‬‭a‬‭skewness‬‭of‬‭0‬‭and‬‭a‬‭kurtosis‬‭of‬
‭3.‬ ‭Parametric‬ ‭analyses‬ ‭can‬ ‭only‬ ‭analyze‬‭continuous‬‭data,‬‭which‬‭means‬‭it‬‭won’t‬‭work‬‭well‬‭with‬‭our‬‭ordinal‬
‭data.‬‭Additionally,‬‭nonparametric‬‭analyses‬‭assess‬‭the‬‭median‬‭of‬‭the‬‭data‬‭rather‬‭than‬‭the‬‭mean.‬‭The‬‭median‬‭as‬
‭the central tendency works better for our 1 to 5 Likert scale.‬

I‭ n‬ ‭assessing‬‭our‬‭data,‬‭we‬‭are‬‭opting‬‭for‬‭the‬‭Kruskal-Wallis‬‭test,‬‭a‬‭statistical‬‭test‬‭used‬‭to‬‭compare‬‭3‬‭or‬‭more‬
‭groups‬ ‭of‬ ‭sample‬ ‭data.‬ ‭The‬ ‭Kruskal-Wallis‬ ‭test‬ ‭is‬ ‭the‬ ‭nonparametric‬ ‭alternative‬ ‭to‬ ‭the‬ ‭one-way‬ ‭ANOVA‬
‭when‬ ‭the‬ ‭assumptions‬ ‭of‬ ‭normality‬ ‭and‬ ‭homogeneity‬ ‭of‬ ‭variance‬ ‭are‬ ‭not‬ ‭met;‬ ‭this‬ ‭makes‬ ‭it‬ ‭useful‬ ‭for‬
‭analyzing‬‭data‬‭that‬‭are‬‭not‬‭normally‬‭distributed.‬‭This‬‭statistical‬‭test‬‭suits‬‭our‬‭data‬‭the‬‭most‬‭because‬‭it‬‭allows‬
‭for‬‭the‬‭analysis‬‭and‬‭comparison‬‭of‬‭more‬‭than‬‭two‬‭independent‬‭groups‬‭with‬‭ordinal‬‭data.‬‭Our‬‭study‬‭has‬‭seven‬
‭independent‬‭variables:‬‭classroom,‬‭canteen,‬‭clinic,‬‭science‬‭laboratory,‬‭library,‬‭comfort‬‭rooms,‬‭and‬‭swimming‬
‭pool,‬ ‭and‬ ‭one‬ ‭dependent‬ ‭variable,‬ ‭which‬ ‭is‬ ‭the‬ ‭student‬ ‭satisfaction‬ ‭or‬ ‭the‬ ‭ordinal‬ ‭Likert‬ ‭scale‬ ‭data.‬ ‭The‬
‭Kruskal-Wallis‬ ‭test‬ ‭helps‬ ‭to‬ ‭determine‬ ‭if‬ ‭there‬ ‭are‬ ‭any‬ ‭significant‬ ‭differences‬ ‭in‬ ‭the‬ ‭medians‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬
‭independent‬ ‭groups,‬ ‭which,‬ ‭for‬ ‭example,‬ ‭could‬ ‭give‬ ‭us‬ ‭insight‬ ‭on‬‭what‬‭aspects‬‭across‬‭the‬‭different‬‭groups‬
‭share‬‭a‬‭common‬‭low‬‭median,‬‭which‬‭can‬‭be‬‭interpreted‬‭as‬‭the‬‭aspect‬‭that‬‭the‬‭school‬‭is‬‭performing‬‭poorly‬‭on‬
‭and in need of improvement.‬
