I n assessingourdata,weareoptingfortheKruskal-Wallistest,astatisticaltestusedtocompare3ormore
groups of sample data. The Kruskal-Wallis test is the nonparametric alternative to the one-way ANOVA
when the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variance are not met; this makes it useful for
analyzingdatathatarenotnormallydistributed.Thisstatisticaltestsuitsourdatathemostbecauseitallows
fortheanalysisandcomparisonofmorethantwoindependentgroupswithordinaldata.Ourstudyhasseven
independentvariables:classroom,canteen,clinic,sciencelaboratory,library,comfortrooms,andswimming
pool, and one dependent variable, which is the student satisfaction or the ordinal Likert scale data. The
Kruskal-Wallis test helps to determine if there are any significant differences in the medians of the
independent groups, which, for example, could give us insight onwhataspectsacrossthedifferentgroups
shareacommonlowmedian,whichcanbeinterpretedastheaspectthattheschoolisperformingpoorlyon
and in need of improvement.
