Text 1.7.22
arjuna uvāca
Arjuna said;
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa mahā-bāho
O Lord Kṛṣṇa; O Lord Kṛṣṇa; He who is the Almighty;
bhaktānām abhayaṅkara
of the devotees; eradicating the fears of;
tvam eko dahyamānānām
You; alone; those who are suffering from;
apavargo ’si saṁsṛteḥ
the path of liberation; are; in the midst of material miseries.
Arjuna said: O my Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, You are the almighty Personality of Godhead. There is no limit
to Your different energies. Therefore only You are competent to instill fearlessness in the hearts
of Your devotees. Everyone in the flames of material miseries can find the path of liberation in
You only.
Text 1.7.23
tvam ādyaḥ puruṣaḥ sākṣād
You are the original; the enjoying personality; directly;
īśvaraḥ prakṛteḥ paraḥ
the controller; of material nature; transcendental;
māyāṁ vyudasya cic-chaktyā
the material energy; one who has thrown aside; by dint of internal potency;
kaivalye sthita ātmani
in pure eternal knowledge and bliss; placed; own self.
You are the original Personality of Godhead who expands Himself all over the creations and is
transcendental to material energy. You have cast away the effects of the material energy by dint
of Your spiritual potency. You are always situated in eternal bliss and transcendental knowledge.
Text 1.7. 24
sa eva jīva-lokasya
that Transcendence; certainly; of the conditioned living beings;
māyā-mohita cetasaḥ
captivated by the illusory energy; by the heart;
vidhatse svena vīryeṇa
execute; by Your own; influence;
śreyo dharmādi lakṣaṇam
ultimate good; four principles of liberation; characterized by.
And yet, though You are beyond the purview of the material energy, You execute the four
principles of liberation characterized by religion and so on for the ultimate good of the
conditioned souls.
Text 1.7.25
tathāyaṁ cāvatāras te
tathā — thus; ayam — this; ca — and; avatāraḥ — incarnation; Your;
bhuvo bhāra jihīrṣayā
of the material world; burden; for removing;
svānāṁ cānanya-bhāvānām
of the friends; and of the exclusive devotees;
anudhyānāya cāsakṛt
for remembering repeatedly; ca — and; asakṛt — fully satisfied.
Thus You descend as an incarnation to remove the burden of the world and to benefit Your
friends, especially those who are Your exclusive devotees and are constantly rapt in meditation
upon You.
