Equality, peace, freedom, Martin Luther King Jr. spent his life trying to make
a better life for the African-American people. He was a famous leader of the
American Civil Rights movement, a political activist and a Baptist minister.
He was born in 1929 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. During his first years he
was named Michael King such as his father (a minister at the Ebenezer
Baptist Church in Atlanta), but in a visit to Germany he decided to change
his son´s name by Martin Luther honoring the protestant reformer Martin
Luther.
At the age of fifteen Martin Luther King Jr. attended at Moorehouse College
He married with Coretta Scott while doing graduate work in 1948. They had
four kids and they were together until his death. Like his father he wanted to
become a minister.
Seven years later in 1955 he accepted the leadership of the first great Negro
nonviolent demonstration of contemporary times in the United States.
He is the main reason for the equal rights between races that we have
today.
I can conclude that Martin Luther King was an extraordinary man that will be
remembered forever for everything he did for his country. His numerous
accomplishments have changed our society for the better, and he will always
be one of the greatest leaders of all times. He is an inspiration to many, and
a hero to those who believe in a world of equality, peace and freedom.
