Martin Luther King, a historical leader

Equality, peace, freedom, Martin Luther King Jr. spent his life trying to make
a better life for the African-American people. He was a famous leader of the
American Civil Rights movement, a political activist and a Baptist minister.

He was born in 1929 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. During his first years he
was named Michael King such as his father (a minister at the Ebenezer
Baptist Church in Atlanta), but in a visit to Germany he decided to change
his son´s name by Martin Luther honoring the protestant reformer Martin
Luther.

At the age of fifteen Martin Luther King Jr. attended at Moorehouse College
He married with Coretta Scott while doing graduate work in 1948. They had
four kids and they were together until his death. Like his father he wanted to
become a minister.

Seven years later in 1955 he accepted the leadership of the first great Negro
nonviolent demonstration of contemporary times in the United States.

He also directed the peaceful march on Washington D.C of 250,000 people

for work and liberty; to whom he delivered his famous speech called “I have
a dream”, in which he talks about a world where people from different races
should be equal. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live
in a nation where they will no judged by the color of their skin but by the
content of their character”……
That speech was an inspiration to millions of African-American people.
Martin Luther King led a protest against segregated buses. It started when
an older lady named Rosa Parks, who is now a days famous for not giving
up her seat, was arrested. Martin Luther King Jr. was a very powerful
speaker and over all he knew how to lead protests, and how to get people
involved. King was elected the leader of a lot of marches, protests and
associations, including the “Montgomery Improvement Association”.

He is the main reason for the equal rights between races that we have
today.

I can conclude that Martin Luther King was an extraordinary man that will be
remembered forever for everything he did for his country. His numerous
accomplishments have changed our society for the better, and he will always
be one of the greatest leaders of all times. He is an inspiration to many, and
a hero to those who believe in a world of equality, peace and freedom.
