On 07 / 08 Nov 2020, presence of

a gp of trts was ascertained in
Gen a Pt 3850 in Machhal sect.
18MADRAS(MYSORE
MARAUDERS) launched a
search op led by Capt. Ashutosh
Kumar. As the search party
closed in on the suspected loc, the
trts opened indiscriminate fire in
which Capt Ashutosh was
injured. The search party swiftly
Trts Killed/ Recoveries retaliated and in the ensuing
firefight successfully eliminated
Trts Killed 03 three trts. However, Capt
Ashutosh Kumar succumbed to
Rifle AK-47 03 his injuries and made the
supreme sacrifice. The offr was
Mag of Rif AK-47 14 awarded with Shaurya Chakra
(posthumously) for his
Rds 7.62 MM 162 exemplary bravery and
outstanding courage.

On 04 Aug 2009, an infiltration bid of two trts in
Keran sect was detected. A party of 9 PARA Fd Regt
led by Maj AK Yadav planned to est stops and neutr
the trts. At about 1500 hr, the party spotted the trts
and swiftly cordoned off the area. The trts opened
fire on the ambush party which led to an exch of hy
vol of fire. In the ensuing fire fight one local and one
foreign trt were killed without any loss to own tps.
Large qty of arms and amn were rec. For a well
planned and surgically exec op, and exemplary
bravery, Maj AK Yadav was later awarded with
Sena Medal (Gallantry).

217 FD REGT

On 30 Aug 2011, the TIIOE at Sundi obs some

suspicious mov through Sundi Nar in Keran sect.
Capt Rajveer Singh, the COB cdr imdtly alerted the
ambushes of 217 Fd Regt in the area and mustered
a search party to neutr the trts. While closing the
cordon, Nk Yashwant Singh from Capt Rajveer’s
party obs the mov of a gp of trts along Sundi Nar. In
the ensuing firefight, Nk Yashwant killed one trt at
close rg and the party of Capt Rajveer Singh
cornered the remaining four trts and eliminated
them. For displaying extraordinary courage,
Nk Yashwant Singh was awarded Sena Medal
(Gallantry), while Capt Rajveer Singh was awarded
the GOC-in-C Commendation Card.

Capt Arun Singh

Jasrotia, AC (P)

On 15 Sep 1995, a team of 9 PARA(SF)

led by Capt Arun Singh Jasrotia mov to clear a
hideout of LeT in the Lolab valley. After an ardous
climb of 10 hrs, the team reached Balkul Gali.
As the team reached the hideout loc, they came
under hy vol of fire. Capt Jasrotia showcasing
exemplary courage, charged onto the trts. In the
ensuing encounter he was grievously injured,
however, Capt Jasrotia single handedly killed four
trts and made the supreme sacrifice. Inspired by
his bravery, his team eliminated the remaining
four trts. Capt Arun Singh Jasrotia was awarded
the Ashok Chakra posthumously.
 KISHENGANGA R

Based on specific int recd by 14 SIKH LI, A jt op

comprising of teams of 14 SIKHLI, 10 SIKH, 3 LADAKH
SCOUTS & 5 PARA were launched in area South of
Kishanganga River in NBC Sub Sector . On 21 Sep 03
at 1030 Hr, the OP of 3 LADAKH SCOUTS obs a gp of
trts mov along a ridge line . Contact was est with the
trt gp at 1050 Hr , in an op spanning over 11 days in hy
snow conditions, 19 trts belonging to Jem and HUM
were killed and one trt apprehended . Lt KD Singh, 10
SIKH and Nk Joginder Singh, 5 PARA made the
supreme sacrifice . Massive haul of arms, amn and
other stores were recovered .

Col. Jojan Thomas,

AC (P)

On 22 Aug 2008, presence of a gp of heavily armed trts was

ascertained by the HHTI of Hunmar Top in the Gen A of
Nao Nar in Machhal sect. Due to the paucity of time and
complex nature of the op,Col Jojan Thomas, CO 45 RR
Bn(JAT) personally led the op. As the firefight ensued, Col
Thomas killed two trts at close rg. Charged up by the
valour of their CO, the Bn neutr four more trts. Col Jojan
Thomas and two soldiers made the supreme sacrifice The
Bn was awarded one Ashok Chakra, two ShauryaChakras
four Sena Medals, one Mention-in-Dispatch and eleven
GOC-in-C Commendation Cards for their valour and
courage.
