Doors and Frames Performance Requirements:

A. Provide aluminium door system, with thermally broken profiles for air-conditioned areas
only, capable of withstanding applied loads, wind, thermal and structural movement,
without failure, based on tested product certificates. Failure includes, but not limited to, the
following:
1. Air infiltration and water penetration exceeding specified limits.
2. Framing members showing deformation due to excessive self-weight.
3. Framing members showing deformation due to transferring loads caused by thermal
and/or structural movement.
4. Unsmooth operation of the aluminium door operable components.
5. Malfunction of hardware.
6. Discoloration of the coating.
B. Physically and thermally isolate glazing from aluminium framing members.
C. Profiles shall be thermally broken for air-conditioned areas.
D. Provide door systems that do not evidence water leakage.
E. Provide door systems with permanent resistance to air leakage of not more than 0.06 cfm/ft2
(0.3 l/s/m2) of door area when tested according to ASTM E283 at a static-air-pressure
difference of 1.57 Ibf/ft2 (75 Pa).
F. Louvered door systems for non-air-conditioned areas are exempted from the air infiltration
and water penetration criteria.
G. Drainage system in door leaf and framing:
1. Design door systems to incorporate integral and internal collection drainage channels for
the water passing the joints, condensation that could seep-in, and moisture occurring or
migrating within the system, and to be drained of and ventilated by wind-protected slots
or through cavities to the outside.
2. Ensure the continuity of drainage from the transom to the mullion.
3. No perforation of the members within areas of drainage will be permitted.
4. All internal section junctions, and joints are to be adequately sealed.
