Q3 Worksheet 2:

Question: In your point of view as a senior

high school STEM student, is it proper to
continue selective breeding? Support your
claim and your answer in a bulleted format.

 The question of whether selective birth should continue as a high school

STEM student major requires careful consideration. Selective breeding
undoubtedly plays an important role in improving agricultural practices, not
only improving crop yields, disease resistance, and overall agricultural
quality, but also helping to conserve livestock endangered species and
maintain genetic diversity in populations Improved nutrition, taste and
flexibility of the animals Despite enabling crop production, it has given us a
genetic and evolutionary nature a valuable insights into biology, and to
deepen our understanding of inheritance patterns and genetic interactions

 However, elective reproduction is not without drawbacks and ethical

concerns. It can pose ethical challenges, especially in terms of the welfare of
the species involved and the potential loss of genetic diversity in
populations. Strong breeding selection can reduce genetic variation, making
species more vulnerable to disease and environmental change. In addition,
there is a risk of unpredictable consequences such as unintended genetic
changes or biodiversity degradation. With advances in genetic engineering
and biotechnology, new methods of crop improvement and animal breeding
are emerging, which can lead to more precise control and fewer ethical
concerns and therefore must be prudent decide whether to proceed with
elective delivery, considering the benefits, risks and ethical implications.
Similarly, alternatives should also be explored to achieve the same goal.
