Health Education and Program Planning

● Completed a needs assessment of the college population based on data collected the
previous year. Prepared a grant in order to fund a mental health program on campus
● Goal was to reduce the stress of college students by teaching coping strategies and
providing a safe, quiet space on campus for students to utilize their coping skills learned
whether it was meditation, yoga or just sitting in silence.

Public Health and the Environment

● Job shadowed during a home inspection for three hours. Learned about different health
hazards in homes such as radon level which can be a preventable cause of lung cancer
● Goal was to experience real work in the public health field.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

The Children’s Center Detroit, MI


Assisted with the boutique located within the Children Center by gathering up hygiene products,
clothing, and dry goods for families. Also helped by sorting donations, hanging clothing, and
organizing shelves.
