To Whom It May Concern

My name is Kristina Urbanc, the wife of Gašper Urbanc. I’ve read the
complaint and I understand the charges laid against my husband, I’m
writing this letter to o er a more complete picture of who Gašper is as a
person.

I’m a wife and a mother, I have two children from my previous marriage,
whom together with Gašper we’ve raised into responsible, productive
citizens. I’ve never been involved in any crime. I’ve known Gašper for
almost 20 years that we’ve been together and all this time he’s been a
reliable provider, a loyal husband, and a caring father to my children
and to his son Aleks from his previous marriage.

Until this situation emerged we had led a perfectly normal middle-class

life with a wide circle of friends and neighbors, all ordinary people like
us. Gašper had been a successful small business owner since the early
1990s, having nished high school, he took over a local artisanal
printing workshop named Pagi and learned the ropes, then in 1991
together with partners he started a company called Gamatrade d.o.o., a
food items trade and distribution business. In 1992 he parted ways with
his business partners and started his own company, Intergama d.o.o.,
which grew to employ over 80 people.

Then in 1993 he became a pioneer of private radio business in the

region and established a radio station called Radio Gama MM, which
started broadcasting in 1994. He would eventually sell the radio station
due to extreme workload but it still represents the highest professional
achievement of his business career so far.

Following the sale of Radio Gama MM he started another company,

Euromatch, in Munich, Germany, a promotional and advertising
materials business that operated until 2006. After that he tried his hand
at various activities, all above the board and perfectly legal, and

eventually ended up running tourist facilities rst at Vogel ski resort in
this country and then in a tourist resort in Rovinj in neighboring Croatia.

The tourist business was going reasonably well until Covid struck in
2020, which brought tourism to a standstill in both Croatia and this
country. It was a di cult time for all of us and especially for Gašper as
the breadwinner of the family. I know nancial hardship was a huge
psychological burden for him and I wish I had been able to nd a way
to make things easier, it was a very challenging period for everyone and
this a ected my husband’s decision-making, but he’s not a criminal,
he’s a good man who found himself in dire circumstances.

Gašper has no connection to the United States, he doesn’t even know

anyone there, he’s never been a member of the Serbian or any other
ma a, he’s nothing like the criminal complaint paints him to be. He’s a
caring, social person with a lot of empathy, he might have succumbed
to nancial pressure and temptation but none of this would have come
to pass without a series of instigations.

Our family has now been without the husband and father for two years,
it hasn’t been easy for us and it’s been very hard for him, I woud like to
ask the American justice system to please let my husband return to his
family as soon as possible, we miss him very much.

Thank you.

Mrs Kristina Urbanc
