Jacob rolled over and opened his eyes. He looked at the clock and jumped out of bed with a
fright. He didn't know what had happened to his alarm. He picked it up and realised he forget to
set it last night. Oh no, he was going to be super late for school.
Jacob ran downstairs to get his breakfast. He opened the fridge and suddenly remembered that he
was desperate for a glass of milk last night after dinner and had finished all the milk. So there
was no milk left for his, cereal this morning.
He ran out the door, grabbing his school bag as he did. His bag was really heavy. Why would it
be so heavy? He stopped and opened up his bag. He saw his lunchbox from last week was still
inside and he still had a yucky ham and lettuce sandwich and a moldy apple inside. Eww! He
didn't have time to get a new sandwich. He was going to have to put up with this smell all day.
Jacob made it to school gates and saw they were locked. What’s going on here? He thought to
himself. He looked around and couldn’t see any other school bags or any cars in the park. A man
walking stopped and looked at Jacob in surprise. “I think you might be confused mate, Its
Sunday today!” Oh no! That’s why he didn’t set the alarm because it is still weekend. He smiled
and thanked the man before running home.

Goats and Kids
Goats are fun and playful farm animals that are found all around Australia and in many other
countries. Goats are found on farms and as feral animals in outback Australia. Goats were
introduced to Australia in the 19th century as an emergency food supply. Unfortunately, as the
goats were released, escaped or abandoned, the population of feral goats in Australia grew.
Farmers farm goats for their fleece, milk and meat, Baby goats are called kids. Kids are often
born as twins or triplets. This is great for the kids, as they have other kids to play with straight
away.
Feral goats are a problem in Australia, as they graze on native herbs, grasses, trees and shrubs.
This causes soil erosion and prevents regeneration of the area.
Goats are great animals to have on a farm, as they cat lots of things that other animals won't eat.
Having some goats can help to eliminate a range of weeds and invasive plant species.
