What are some

Characteristics
of a

Project
1
In the previous posts we described
certain characteristics that
define what a project is, like

Tim
st
Co

Scope

In this post we will discuss the word

project as it is used in
the business world
2
Most projects are
Cross-functional
For example, if the project goal is to construct a
building, it would involve several
functions/disciplines, such as
Civil
Structural
Electrical
Plumbing
Fire alarm system engineering,
as well as several other departments, e.g.
Procurement
Legal
Human Resources, etc.
3
Projects are usually quite
Complex

It is never easy to initiate a project,

execute it, and finish it.

Have you ever done or seen others do

home renovations? Is it ever easy?

Imagine that
that,, but on a much larger scale and
with a lot more people, time and money involved
4
Projects involve
Risk

Because projects involve several disciplines,

have many stakeholders, and are usually
not very simple, there are
a lot of risks as well
5
Project tasks are
interdependent

In order to complete a project, we need to

complete the required set of tasks.
The tasks usually depend on each other, as
some tasks cannot be done without others
being completed beforehand.
6
There are usually quite a few
Changes and Improvements

Have you noticed the new design of my posts?

I changed a few things here and there with the goal
to make them more interesting for my audience!

Changes on the projects are done to improve, fix, update,

or remove something, be it the scope, duration, budget,
quality, or any other part of the project.
