Count and Graph Dinos

Create a bar graph to show the quantity of each of the dinosaurs below.

Number of Items 1 2 3 4 5
Measuring Dino Feet
Draw a rough sketch of the different footprints after measuring the proper
distance from toe to heel. Have the child record the data - could go ahead and
write the names of the dinosaurs or could have the child write it themself.

If the child has a favorite dinosaur, like my son and the Spinosaurus, look up how
big that footprint is and cut it out of craft paper. Then use that as a measuring
tool to see how big things (or people) are.

Dinosaur Salt Dough Fossils
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of warm water

Mix and shape into dino bones of different sizes and could also press dino toys
to make fossils.
Bake at the lowest setting of your oven for 2 hours or until hardened

Sort Dino Bones

Once the bones are done, have the child arrange them from largest to smallest.
Practicing counting and could even work on basic subtraction and addition
problems using the bones as manipulatives.

Dig for Dinos
We purchased these dinosaur skeletons, but could also use the salt-dough bones.
Put the dinos in a small tray of sand. Give the child an old paintbrush and/or a
small shovel to retrieve the bones.

Wash the Dinos

Fill one bowl with soapy water
(could add a mud bowl and a
clean water bowl as well)
Give the child a sponge or a rag
so they can wash the dinosaur
toys off
