DIFFERENT VERSION OF CINDERELLA – WEEK 25 By: Hailey Jong

Once upon there was a young girl named Ella lived with her two stepsisters and stepmother. Poor Ella

had to work hard all day long so the others could rest. It was she who had to wake up each morning

when it was still dark and cold to start the fire. It was she who cooked the meals. It was she who kept

the fire going. The poor girl could not stay clean, from all the ashes and cinders by the fire. It was how

the she got the nickname of “Cinderella” from her stepsisters.

One day, an invitation came to town. The King and Queen were going to have a ball! It was time for the

Prince of Hammington to find a bride. All of the young ladies in the land were invited to come. They

were wild with joy! They would wear their most beautiful gowns and make their hair super nice. Maybe

the prince would like them! Sadly, Cinderella was told she was only allowed to go to the ball if she

finished all her chores and had something nice to wear.

At Cinderella’s house, she now had extra work to do. She had to make two brand-new gowns for her

step-sisters. Meanwhile, Cinderella’s mice friends, Gus, Jack and Suzy, were making a magnificent dress

for Cinderella that shown like the stars in the night sky.

When the time came their fine carriage came to the door. The stepmother and step-sisters were ready

to hop into the carriage. Suddenly, Cinderella came all dressed beautifully in bright colors that shown

like the stars. The stepsisters were jealous and tore Cinderella’s dress to pieces. Oh no! Cinderella

couldn’t go to the ball dressed in rags.

Cackling, the stepsisters and stepmother were off in the carriage.

Then - Poof!

All of a sudden, in front of her was a fairy.

“Don’t cry now. You can go to the ball. Just remember that when the clock strikes twelve at midnight. All

will be reversed and you must come back here.”

With that, she tapped her wand on Cinderella’s head. Suddenly, a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch

turned into an enormous fancy carriage. Five white horses also appeared. Cinderella’s ripped ball gown

suddenly turned into an elegant, stylish gown!

Smiling, Cinderella was off and she was the most beautiful girl in the ball. The prince who took notice of

the beautiful maiden, immediately asked to dance with her.

They twirled and spinned and had so much fun that Cinderella forgot what the fairy godmother had said

about the magic being reversed at midnight.

It was only when the magic was reversed that Cinderella remembered the fairy godmother’s words.

Suddenly, the prince was seen dancing in the spotlight with a girl who was dressed in rags and messy

hair. He was embarrassed and red with anger when everyone at the ball laughed at him. He sent

Cinderella to the dungeons. And they lived a not so happily ever after.
