AT THE HIGHER ANGLES OF INCLINE SPECIAL PANS MAY BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT THE MATERIAL FROM SLIPPING. IN ALL CASES, MOUNT THE FEEOER SO THE SHAFTS ARE LEVEL IN A CROSSWISE DIRECTION. ADJUSTMENTS FEEDER PAN CHAIN: AS THE CHAIN LENGTHENS DUE To WEAR, RETIGHTEN IT BY TAKING UP PULL BOLTS ON TAILSHAFT BEARINGS (Fic. II). TIGHTEN CHAIN JUST ENOUGH TO MINIMIZE SAG BETWEEN UPPER ROLLERS. ALSO CHECK FOR CLEARANCE BETWEEN PAN RETURN LINE AND ANY HOPPER OR DRIVE SUPPORTS. THE CHAIN'S USEFUL LIFE 18 OVER, WHEN THE TAKE UP REACHES ITS LIMIT, OR WHEW THE CHAIN DOES NOT RIDE DOWN PROPERLY ON HEAD SPROCKET TEETH. THEW EITHER REPLACE THE CHAIN OR OBTAIN ADDITIONAL LIFE FROM THE OLO CHAIN BY PRESSING OUT PINS AND BUSHINGS, ROTATING THEM I80°.AND REINSTALLING. WHEN ASSEMEL ING CHAIN ONTO FECOER, NOTE CORRECT DIRECTION IN FiG. 4, IMPORTANT: WEN TAKING UP THE TAILSHAFT, KEEP IT PARALLEL TO THE HEADSHAFT so THE PAN CHAIN RIDES SQUARELY OVER HEAD SPROCKETS AND TAIL wnECLS, TAKING UP ONE SIDE OF THE TAILSHAFT MORE THAN THE OTHER SIDE WiLL MAKE THE CHAIN RUN CROOKED CAUSING UNDUE WEAR ON SPROCKETS AND CHAIN. PROPER MESH 15 WITH .029" To .032" cLeaRance BETWEEN Teerne RECHECK ALIGNMENT OF DRIVE 70 COUNTERSHAFT« KEEP KEYS AND BOLTS TIGHT: To INSURE PROPER ALIGNMENT OF SPROCKETS AND ROLLERS, INSPECT AND TIGHTEN GIB HEAD TAPERED KEYS ANO BOLTS OAILY FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF OPERATION, THEN AT REGULARLY SCHEDULED INTERVALS DEPENDING ON SEVERITY OF SERVICE AND AS EXPERIENCE AND CONMON SENSE DICTATES, FIG. 11, Puce Bours MAINTENANCE REPLACING FEEDER PANS: OpCRATE FEEDER DRIVE UNTIL PANS TO SE REPLACED ARE POSITIONED BY THE TAILSHAFT. THIS WILL GIVE THE NECESSARY CLEARANCE FOR REMOVAL OF FIRST PAN AND ALSO ROOM TO GET AT CENTER CHAIN IF FEEDER 1S SO EQUIPPED. ALWAYS USE NEW HEAT TREATED CAPSCREWS WITH LOCKNUTS WHEN REINSTALLING PANS. USE OF DRIFT PUNCHES TO ALIGN HOLES WILL SIMPLIFY INSTALLATION. AFTER NEW PANS ARE INSTALLED, CHECK THEM IN OPERATION TO INSURE PROPER CLEARANCES. REMOVING HEAD OR TAILSHAFTS: LOCATE MASTER LINKS ON CHAINS, IDENTIFIED ey A DIMPLE ON END OF PIN. REMOVE TWO ADJACENT PANS OVER THESE PINS A5 EXPLAINCO ABOVE. Tusw FEEDER ORIVE UNTIL THE EXPOSED CHAIN LINKS ARE ON THE TOP SIDE, NEAR THE SHAFT BEING REMOVED. SLACK OFF TENSION ON THE PULL BOLTS (Fig. II) LocaTED AT FEEDER TAILSHAFT. Block THE sHart (HEAD OR TAIL) NOT BEING REMOVED SO IT CAN NOT ROTATES SUPPORT THE LOWER PORTION OF THE PAN CHAIN SO IT WILL HE SECURE WHEN DISCONNECTED, DISCONNECT THE PAN CHAIN AT THE EXPOSED LINKS AND FOLD CHAIN BACK. BEFORE REMOVING THE WEADSHAFT, THE GEAR, PINION, AND GEAR GUARD MUST ALSO Bf REMOVED. UNBOLT BEARINGS AND REMOVE THE HEAD OR TAIL SHAFT ASSEMBLY. AFTER REINSTALLING SHAFT, DE CERTAIN THAT THE ALIGNMENT OF ALL SHAFTS 1S conmECT AS EXPLAINED PREVIOUSLY. THE HEADSHAFT 1S TO SE PERPENDICULAR TO FEEDER CENTERLINE, USING SHIMS IF NECESSARY. ALSO HEAD SPROCKETS AND TAIL WHEELS ARE TO BE LocaTeO ON CENTER LINE OF UPPER ROLLERS FOR PROPER TRACKING OF CHAIN, AND THEN KEYED 10 SHAFTS. REMOVING UPPER ROLLERS: REMOVE OUTSIDE ROLLERS TO REPLACE BUSHINGS ANO/oR StALS WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE PAN CHAIN. Do THIS BY SLACKING OFF ALL TENSION ON THE TAILSHAFT PULL BOLTS AND BLOCKING UP PAN LINE OFF THE ROLLERS. REMOVE ROLLER CLAMP BOLTS ON THE NEAR SIDE OF TWO ADJACENT ROLLERS, WHILE MERELY LooseNinc THE CLAMP BOLTS ON THE ROLLERS FAR SIDE. UNBOLT AND REMOVE COMMON CHANNEL ON THE NEAR SIDE AND LIFT our ROLLERS. REMOVE CENTER ROLLERS ON FEEDERS EQUIPPED WITH A THIRD CHAIN, OY DISCONNECTING THE PAN LINE (Ste PAGc 6) OR BY REMOVING ALL OF THE OUTSIDE ROLLERS ON ONE SiDC. AFTER REBUILDING ROLLER, STAND ROLLER UP-RIGHT TO REFILL IT WITH LUBRICANT (See Berow) ocrone ATTACHING ROLLER TO FEEDER. CHECK LUBRICANT LeveL eveRY 6 MONTHS. BEFORE SECURING ROLLERS TO FEEDER, CHECK ALIGNMENT OF ALL ROLLERS WITH A STRAIGHT EDoe. REPLACING SPROCKETS: WHEN HEAD SPROCKETS OR TAIL WHEELS BECOME WORN, REVERSE OR REPLACE SEGMENTS BY ROTATING A SHAFT TO EXPOSE ONE SEGMENT. REMOVE BOLTS ATTACHING SEGMENT TO THE HUB AND REVERSE OR REPLACE EXPOSED SEGMENT, REPEAT PROCESS FOR OTHER SEGMENTS. WHEN REPLACING HEAD SPROCKETS, ALIGN SPROCKET SEGMENTS TO GET EQUAL PULL ON ALL SPROCKET TEETH. DO THIS BY LOOSENING THE BOLTS AND SHIFTING SEGMENTS SLIGHTLY TO OBTAIN PROPER TIMING. Some recoEns WITH 3 CHAINS HAVE AN OPTIONAL THIRD SPROCKET. LUBRICATION LUBRICATION LuBe LUBRICANT AMOUNT.
