Subtopic/Question: How language effects the upbringing of children

Information:

 The author states that they are often worried that the language they use will affect
their child long term.
 The article suggests that there is a new way to parent that goes against the
traditional authoritarian ways of parenting.
 Another issue the author brings up is that gentle parenting is best in an only child
household. This is because gentle parenting often focuses on one child. When
gentle parenting has been introduced to multiple child households, one child is left
out and put aside as bad behavior is rewarded.
 It had been proven that children will get attention anywhere they want and gentle
parenting is a good example of giving attention to bad behavior.
 Gentle Parenting allows children to get away with doing bad things
 The new rise in gentle parenting could have been caused by the hands off
parenting style that older generations used which caused younger people to want to
control their children’s behaviors. (“helicopter parenting”)
