This will help identify the location of the origin > Customize the toolbars to machine a 2D part. > Set the machine type to a Haas Vertical Spindle CNC machine. SET THE DISPLAY OF THE GRID: 1. Launch Mastercam. 2. Select from the pull down menu Settings>Configuration. 3. From the window on the left side of this window expand the Screen topic by selecting the + sign and then select Grid Settings. and change the Size to 1 5. Select the OK button to complete this function. 6. When prompted to "Save settings to configuration file’ ‘Setting the Environment - Page - 1 Page 2 Setting the Environment — Mill SET THE TOOLBARS REQUIRED TO CREATE THE GEOMETRY AND MACHINE A 2D AND OR A 3D PART: 4. For the following example we will install a post processor for a Generic Haas 4 Axis CNC Milling Machine. Note: If you are not sure which Post Processor to use or the post for your machine is not listed contact CNC Software at 1-800-275-6226 or info@mastercamedu.com. Open the Haas.ZIP file (or compressed post processor file). You will be working through the process to machine parts in later Lessons; Mill-Lesson-1 will just cover geometry creation. This Lesson covers the following topics: > Create a 2-dimensional drawing by: Creating lines using line endpoints. Using the AutoCursor to snap to endpoints of lines when creating lines. Using the zoom functions to change the view of entities in the graphics window. Saving the file. These lines could be created in many different ways, this is just one option > Note the location of XO YO and the direction of the X and Y axis as shown below. > You will start to create line 1 first and then move around in a clockwise direction to create the remaining lines 2,3 etc as shown below. xo vo GiieweTOP WCS:TOP Cplane:TOP Mill-Lesson-1 - 4 Page 17 Mastercam Training Guide > To create this series of lines you need to refer to the dimensioned part drawing for Mill Lesson -1 and determine the absolute values in the X and Y axis for the endpoints of the individual fines.
