2. Convergys® ISE comfort installation

2.1 Front
2.1.1 Install electrodes

1. Remove all the air bubble that stays at electrodes

bottom by knock it with finger. Hold electrodes by,

push it to electrodes housing. Make sure the
electrodes are in proper position.
2. You must change the seal cap of REF. electrode
before installing it. There is thin hole in the seal cap
let the air flow pass. Remove all the air bubble in
REF. electrode.
3. Drive to tighten screw by hand.

2.1.2 Install pump

1. Fix left end of pump tube at tube holder 1.

2. Fix other side on tube holder 2.
3. Make sure pump tube is entangled on

pump wheel.

2.1.3 Install Cal-1

1 1. Remove seal cap of Cal-1, insert tube

2 (here green) into bottle.
2. Drive tighten seal cap and put bottle on.

1. Remove seal cap of Cal-2 bottle, insert

tube (here blue) into bottle.
2. Drive tighten seal cap and put bottle on.

2.1.5 Install waste bottle

1. Insert connect tube to waste bottle.

2.2 Back
2.2.1 Connect to host PC

2 1. Put cable on RS232 port.

2. Drive to tighten the 2 screws.
3. Connect other side of cable to host PC.

2.2.2 Connect to ground

1. Switch off power supply and remove power cord

before connect to ground.
2. Remove screw at position 1. Entangle ground
wire to ground connector.

4. Connect other end of ground wire to ground.

2.2.3 Connect power supply

1. Insert power cord to power inlet.

on power switch, instrument will start.

2.2.4 Prepare printer

1. Remove printer cover. Put paper roll
into paper box. Please insert the paper
into the correct position.
2. Make a sharp end of paper, and insert it
into printer.

3.1.1 Change valve A
tube (here green)

1. Cut 60mm from tube including in standard packing.

3.1.2 Change valve B tube (here blue)

3.2 Change sample probe

3.2.1 Change O-ring

1. Head up sample probe, remove probe hosing by

screw it at counter-clockwise.
2. Remove used O-ring, and change new one.
3. Screw probe housing.

3.2.2 Change sample tube

1. Head up probe, remove probe housing by screw it

at anticlockwise.
2. Remove sample used tube and change new one.
3. Screw probe housing.

3.3 Change electrodes

3.3.1 Change electrode inner solution

1. Remove metal screw on the up of electrodes,

remove the used inner solution.
2. Pipette about 0.5ml inner solution from bottle by
syringe, and pipette into electrode, makes sure the
liquid level is about 3/4 of electrode height.
3. Screw the metal screw, clean the electrode surface.

3.3.2 Change REF. electrode inner solution

1. Remove seal cap, remove used inner solution.
2. Pour inner solution to electrode from bottle
directly. Make sure the liquid level is about 1/2 of
electrode height.
3. Screw seal cap, remove air bubble, clean
electrode surface.
3.4 Change pump tube and connect tube

1. Remove tube from pump, remove connect tube.

2. Change new tube, and connect to connect tube.
3. Fix pump tube to holder.

1. Remove fuse holder by small ‘-’ type screw driver,
remove used fuse, change new one.

4. Trouble Shooting
The Convergys® ISE comfort is a highly sensitive instrument. To fix problems that might occur
after installation, please follow the guide below step by step. Send the resulting report to your
technical support.

4.1 General requirements

Checked

• The ISE comfort has to be properly grounded

• Working at 10°C～40°C. Avoid temperature shifts after calibration. Avoid
placing the instrument in direct sunlight or in front of a source of heat or
drafts.

• Avoid electrical interference.

• Power for this instrument should be AC 220 V ±22 V and 50 Hz ±1 Hz.

Ensure stable supply of voltage (use a UPS with integrated sinus voltage
stabilizer).

• Ensure that there are no air bubbles inside of all of the electrodes.
• Ensure that the aspirated liquid is covering the tube left and right of the
electrode chamber and the tube channel between the electrodes is filled
properly.

• Check Cal-1 and cal-2 solution, usage of another batch

4.2 General procedure to set up electrodes

Checked
Use fresh plasma to activate the electrodes till they are stable. It might need
approximately 2 hours and the process has to be executed in the “sensor” mode.

The equipment may report inconsistent results in case the electrodes are
contaminated. Please use anti-protein solution to clean regular contamination. In
case of heavier contamination the operator may consider using a thin cotton
thread and moving it carefully through the sample channel.

The electrodes may face attrition in case filling solution is not adequate in the
inner chamber of electrodes. Please remove the left out filling solution from the
electrodes and fill up with the fresh Filling Solution.

4.3 1-point calibration failed

Caused by electrode unstable Checked

Check if the electrode is new. If yes, it will take 90 minutes to be stable, it is
strongly recommend using serum to activate the electrodes.
Check if one or more electrodes are unstable
There is air bubble on the membrane of the electrode. Click the electrode with
fingers until the air bubble goes out.
Something is wrong with the O ring: take away and put back the electrode again,
or change O ring.
Electrode connection tube dirty: rinse with anti-protein solution.
Electrode quality fade: change electrode.

Cal out of range in all the electrodes Checked

There is air bubble in the reference electrode: click reference electrode with
fingers several times until the air bubble goes out.
Short of reference filling solution: add or/and change filling solution.
The orifice on the top of the reference electrode is clogged: open it with needle.
The pipeline of reference electrode is dirty: rinse it with anti protein cleaning
solution
The AgCl on the reference electrode internal element drops. Change reference
internal element.
The membrane of reference electrode broken: change reference electrode.

One electrode voltage is out of range Checked

Low or short of electrode filling solution: change the filling solution.
The pipeline of reference electrode is dirty: rinse it anti protein cleaning solution
The AgCl on the electrode internal element drops. Change internal element.
Electrode quality fade: change electrode.
Na electrode is unstable, check Na and Reference electrode

Caused by Sample fault or there is air bubble in the electrode Checked

Check if the pipe is clogged or broken.
Check the O-ring in the sample system.
Check the pipe to see if it is clogged or if it is broken step by step
Check if there is enough solution in the calibration bottle.
Check if the solution is polluted.

4.4 2-point calibration failed

Caused by electrode unstable Checked

Check if the electrode is new. If yes, it will take 90 minutes to be stable. Use the
electrode installation Guide to install the electrodes.
If all electrode or only Na electrode is unstable, it is most might caused by
reference electrode.
There is air in the conjunction of reference electrode, shake the electrode
several times until the air bubble goes out.
The orifice on the top of the reference electrode is clogged: open it with needle.
The AgCl on the reference electrode internal element drops. Change reference
internal element.
The membrane of reference electrode broken: change reference electrode.
Check if one or more electrodes are unstable
There is air bubble on the membrane of the electrode. Click the electrode until
the air bubble goes out.
Something is wrong with the O ring：take away and put back the electrode again,
or exchange O-ring.
Electrode pipeline is dirty: calibration with cleaning solution.
Electrode quality fade: change electrode.

Caused by slope out of range Checked

If all electrodes show slope are out of range, please check if your calibration
solution 1 and 2 are in the right place or if they are polluted.
If only one electrode shows the slop out of range. Please check if the electrode’s
membrane is polluted, if yes rinse with anti protein cleaning solution several
times.
Please check if the quality of the electrode were fade, if yes, change the
electrode.

Possible cause for aspiration failure of solution Checked

Please check if the pipe be clogged or broken, if the inlet probe is clogged or if
the O-ring is broken.
Check the pipe to see if it is clogged or if it is broken step-by-step refereeing to
the pipe design picture.
Check if there is enough solution in the calibration bottle.
Check if the solution is polluted.
