SUBJECT : CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE AfCFTA MOOT

INTERNAL SELECTION ROUNDS

I refer to the matter above.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Moot event offers a unique
platform for students and professionals across Africa to delve deep into the
complexities of trade law and policy under the (AfCFTA) framework. The
participants will have the opportunity to engage in rigorous legal research,
develop compelling arguments, and hone their advocacy skills.

The school intends to conduct a competitive internal selection process to


identify a team of between 3-6 students who will take part in the

competition. The internal selection process will comprise the following two
levels:

a. Essay Stage – This is the first stage which requires you to write and
submit a short essay on the topic below:

“The Influence of Regional Economic Communities (RECs) on the


Implementation and Effectiveness of AfCFTA.”

(1000 words maximum. Times New Roman, space 1.5)

b. Interview Stage – An oral interview will then be conducted for those


shortlisted from the first stage above to select the students that will
represent the school.

All interested law students are invited to submit the essay indicated above,
on or before 10 March 2024 to clacle@kabarak.ac.ke. The body of the
email should include the full name of the participant, their registration
number, and operational phone numbers.

The oral interviews will be conducted virtually on 11 March 2024. A Zoom


link will be shared in advance to those selected to proceed to this stage.

Please note that the training sessions for those selected will begin after the
exams.
