Configuring the printer types

TT-3608A/TT-3608A-220 and H1252A/H1252B.

The TT-3608/TT-3608-220 and H1252A/H1252B printers as delivered from factory are configured for operation
with the Inmarsat C equipment whereby providing paper alarm information to the Message Terminal TT-3606E/
DT4646E, as required by Inmarsat.
In case the printer is to be used for operation with radio telex equipment re-configuration of the printer for correct
paper control for GMDSS telex operation is required by applying the following configuration procedure:

1. Remove the printer head transport safety device.

2. Connect the printer

a. Connect printer to a 24V DC power source.
b. Connect printer to a PC with a CD-ROM drive
using standard parallel printer connection.
3. Insert paper in the printer.
4. Power up the printer and the PC.
5. Insert the “SAILOR printer CD-ROM” in the PC CD-ROM drive.
6. Perform the following procedure from the PC: 40523

a. Double click “My Computer” at the Windows Desktop.

b. Double click the CD-Rom drive containing the “SAILOR printer CD-Rom”.
c. Start configuring by double clicking the appropriate file name:
• Radio telex.exe
• Inmarsat C.exe
d. A window will open and then close again after a few seconds if the configuration has been performed ok.
If the window does not close then close it by pressing Ctrl + C, cycle power to the printer and repeat
step 6.
7. Turn off the printer.
8. If re-configuring a printer used with radio telex operation to Inmarsat C operation use same procedure and
select the <Inmarsat C.exe> file instead.

To verify correct printer configuration as required proceed as follows:

1. While powering up the printer press down the first and fourth buttons as counted from left at the printer front.
Keep both buttons pressed until the printer starts printing a test sheet.
2. If the printer configuration has been completed successfully the following text will appear in the first line of
the test sheet:

• In case of Radio Telex: ML280Elite MEI E1

• In case of Inmarsat C: ML280Elite MEI E2

3. Turn off the printer.

4. Configuration process finished.
