Q. Compare and contrast the flights of the young seagull
and the pilot of the old Dakota aeroplane.
Or
Compare the characters of the seagull and the narrator-pilot.
Ans. The young seagull was in danger of death due to starvation
due to his extreme fear of flying. His family motivated him but he
was still afraid. He lacked confidence and developed fears which
did not have any base. He was born for flying and he merely
needed to take the first step. He started flying when he was lured
out of the ledge by his mother. He felt relieved when he flew
effortlessly along with his family.
In contrast, the narrator- pilot was over was so enthusiastic to join
his family that he took a drastic step which might have killed him.
While the seagull lacked confidence and self motivation, the
narrator was over confident and took great risk to join his family.
Both of them were irrational in their decisions but were relieved
when they were successful after their flight.
