How can young people achieve their dreams? As I see it, setting goals helps young

people alike to create and have clearer ideas of where they like to go in life as well as

how to get there.

The caring professions have always interested me. My dream jobs as a child invariably

involved occupations where I helped others. As I approached the critical age of 15, I

had been struggling all throughout high school with social anxiety. It was my therapist

who guided me towards expressing my interests and communicating with those around

me.

When the day came to make my degree choice, Psychology was the obvious one. It

almost felt like I was repaying a debt, paying forward my experience so that I too could

give to others what was given to me. This gave me an immense desire to study at

university.

All in all, the best advice that I can give to young people is considering their passions

when setting goals, in this way they will be able to establish goals that can feel driven

to accomplish.

Quoting Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, ‘A goal without a plan is just a wish.’
