DEFINITION OF TERMS
CANON LOG 1, or simply the Canon Log is an 8-bit curve that produces
roughly 13.5 stops of dynamic range. This feature is currently available
in most of the Canon cameras including pro Mirrorless range (e.g. EOS
R, EOS R5, EOS R6, EOS R, etc.).
CANON LOG 2 is a 10-bit curve designed
specifically for all Cinema EOS cameras (except the C100 series) to
deliver at least 15 stops of dynamic range. Traditionally requires heavy
grading in postproduction.
CANON LOG 3 gamma curve has characteristics which have some
similarities to those of Canon Log. It is a secondary 10-bit curve to
deliver 15 stops of dynamic range.
CINEMA RAW LIGHT, first introduced with the release of the Canon
EOS C200 video camera, makes using RAW faster and easier than
ever. RAW filming ensures optimum control over picture quality and
enables creative and technical decisions to be made later in
post-production. Cinema RAW Light format provides professional
shooters with the widest dynamic range and highest color fidelity for
postproduction work. Using Canon’s CRD software and Canon RAW
Light codec with up to 15 stops of dynamic range is achievable.
DGO, its long form is Dual Gain Output it takes two outputs from the
sensor and applies different levels of amplification to each:
a high gain output with improved noise characteristics in the shadows
and a low gain output that retains the highlight information that would
otherwise by amplified to the point of clipping.
This technology is currently in EOS C300MKIII and EOS C70.

BROADCAST LENSES(4K)
DIGIC, is Canon’s propriety regarding Image Processing technology
and this applies to all Canon range of products.
Canon Log, is a Canon propriety that helps record images for
post-processing that feature a wide dynamic range using their
native ISO.
DUAL PIXEL CMOS AF, or commonly called DAF is the only industry
AF technology that uses every pixel on the imaging sensor to detect
focus, and also to capture actual image information for still and video
imagery. This is available in almost all the Canon product range.
HLG, its long form is Hybrid Log Gamma and is one of a high dynamic
range imagery standard developed by the
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Japan Broadcasting
Corporation (NHK). It’s designed to deliver a more convenient HDR
solution for the broadcast world *sed by most current HDR sources
and displays.
It combines standard dynamic range and high dynamic range images
into just one video signal that can play as SDR on SDR screens or
HDR on (HLG-compatible) HDR screens. This technology is available in
Canon’s XF series and Cinema EOS cameras.
PQ, its long form is Perceptual Quantization and PQ refers to the
gamma curve of the input signal for displaying HDR images.
HDR PQ settings enable the camera to produce HDR images
conforming to the PQ specification defined in ITU-R BT. 2100 and
SMPTE ST. 2084. This technology is available in Canon’s XF series and
Cinema EOS cameras.
XF-AVC, is a Canon’s propriety video recording format that defines
each recording method for the visual and audio data components that
make up individual video files. It employs the MPEG-4 AVC/H.
