Information for Vaccinated Persons from Overseas Applying

for an Exemption from Quarantine on Humanitarian


Grounds Through the "Consular Services 24" website

□ Important Information

<Important Information>
Please read the following information if you have been vaccinated
against COVID-19 overseas and are seeking to apply for an exemption
from quarantine for attendance at a funeral or visit to immediate family.

- If you are granted an exemption from quarantine on humanitarian


grounds, all your activities in Korea must be in line with the purpose
for which your application was made. If you are found to be engaging
in in any other activities or discovered to be a suspected COVID-19
patient, your exemption will immediately become void and you may be
placed in self-quarantine or facility quarantine.
- Even if you have been vaccinated overseas and granted an exemption
from quarantine, your exemption will immediately become void if you
are found to have had stayed in, departed from, or laid over a country
that is on the list of countries where the Beta, Gamma, or Delta
variants of COVID-19 are widespread within 14 days before entering
Korea.

- If you fail to comply with your obligation stated on the Quarantine


Exemption Certificate or if any information you have provided upon
application and submission of documents turn out to be untrue or
false, you may be subject to civil and/or criminal penalties in
accordance with the applicable laws, including the Infectious Disease
Control and Prevention Act.

- If your submitted vaccination certificate is discovered to be fasified or


fabricated, your exemption will become void and you may be subject to
a criminal penalty in accordance with Article 137, 231, and 234 of the
Criminal Code and Articles 42, 47, and 49 of the Infectious Disease
Control and Prevention Act, or denied entry or deported in accordance
with Articles 11 and 46 of the Immigration Control Act.

- If your submitted vaccination certificate is discovered to be fasified or


fabricated and you have transmitted the virus to others, you may be
liable to provide compensation for medical expenses incurred in the
treatment of you and all persons infected by you.

□ Basic Information
· If you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 overseas, you can apply
for an exemption from quarantine ahead of your expected visit to Korea
for humanitarian purposes such as attendance at a funeral or visit to
your immediate family.

- Who are deemed vaccinated against COVID-19 overseas?


☞ You can be recognized as a person vaccinated against COVID-19
overseas if the required number of dose(s) of a WHO-approved
COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to you and two weeks
have passed after the administration of the final dose for full
vaccination.
* For example, if you received your second dose on August 1, 2021, you are able to
apply for an exemption from quarantine after August 16 (August 1 + 14 days + 1 day).

□ Ineligibility for an Exemption from Quarantine


· Any persons with a history of presence in any of the countries that the
Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency declared as affected by
the Beta, Gamma, and Delta variants of COVID-19 are not eligible to
apply for a quarantine exemption, even if they have been vaccinated.

- The list is effective from the first date to the last date of the month.
- If the country in which your vaccination certificate has been issued is
included in the list at the time of review, quarantine exemption will not
be granted.
- Your exemption will become void if you are found to have had stayed in,
departed from, or laid over a country that is on the list within 14 days
before entering Korea.
* However, your exemption will remain valid if you spent less than 24
hours only within the transfer terminal at the airport without entering
the country.
