1. Make a list of the major deliverables for the project and use them to develop
a draft of the work breakdown structure for the tournament that contains at
least three levels of detail. What are the major deliverables associated with
hosting an event such as a soccer tournament?

The major things needed for hosting a soccer tournament are:

Finding a place to hold the tournament
Getting teams and players to participate
Organizing referees and officials
Creating a schedule and managing the games
Promoting the tournament and finding sponsors
Handling registrations and fees
Providing facilities for players and fans
Managing the logistics of the tournament
Giving out prizes or trophies to the winners
Evaluating how well the tournament went

Work breakdown structure for the tournament:

2. How would developing a WBS alleviate some of the problems that occurred
during the first meeting and help Nicolette organize and plan the project?

Developing a WBS would help solve some problems from the first meeting
and make it easier for Nicolette to plan the project in a few ways: first, gives
a clear structure and order to the tasks, making it easier to assign
responsibilities and track progress. Then, ensures that all the necessary tasks
are identified and nothing important gets forgotten. Estimate how much
time and resources each task will need, so planning and scheduling become
easier. Lastly, makes communication and coordination among the team
members better because everyone can refer to the WBS to know what
needs to be done.

3. Where can Nicolette find additional information to help her develop a WBS
for the tournament?

Nicolette can find more information to help her create a WBS for the
tournament from different sources: first, she can talk to experienced event
organizers or tournament directors who have done similar events before. She
can look up online resources like articles, guides, or templates that explain
how to make a WBS for planning events. She can also ask local soccer
associations or sports organizations for advice and recommendations. And
lastly, she could also consider going to workshops or seminars about event
management or project planning to learn more.

4. How could Nicolette and her task force use the WBS to generate cost
estimates for the tournament? Why would this be useful information?

Nicolette and her team can use the WBS to estimate the costs of the
tournament by breaking down the tasks into smaller parts and figuring out
what resources each part will need. This includes things like the cost of
renting the venue, paying the referees, making promotional materials,
getting equipment, buying prizes, hiring staff, and other expenses. By having
a detailed breakdown of the tasks and their costs, Nicolette can have a
better idea of how much money the tournament will require. This information
is useful because it helps her plan and allocates resources well, look for
sponsors or funding if required, and make sure the tournament stays within
budget.
