Shri Vinayak Visputeji,
Assistant Commissioner,
H/W Ward, BMC.
Subject: Taking disciplinary action against the BMC official who placed bins in front of our KG.
Dear Vinayakji,
{bring you greetings from the Management of St. Stanislaus High School, St. Stanislaus
International School and St. Peter’s Kindergarten — all three institutions of which { am the Manager!
{1am distressed to inform you that Mr. Gohil, the BMC official for Garbage Clearance in
our area, has refused to remove the Garbage Bins stationed opposite our St. Peter's Kindergarten on
the narrow St. Peter’s Road, inspite of repeated requests. As you must be aware, this road is a major
arterial road, used by much of the traffic to afd from the Sea Link, itis a narrow two-way road which
helps to decongest Hill Road. It has heavy traffic all through the day.
‘A few months ago Mr. Gohil stationed Garbage Bins on the Road. | requested
help in making sure that no garbage is thrown at that point, as there was an illegal pile of garbage
very close to the Storm Water Drain passing under the road. In fact, he promised me that after the
painting of the wall of St. Stanislaus High School Astroturf Complex and the putting of a CCTV camera
to identify the offenders, he would remove these bins. Thesebins are now becoming a regular site for
the throwing of garbage and we can provide you with many photos and real-time videos to show that
the bins regularly overflow and garbage is strewn all around. Placing such garbage bins on a main road
is against Municipal policy and so we do not understand the rationale of such an offensive move.
{would request you to take disciplinary action against Mr. Gohil and anyone else
responsible for creating a regular Municipal Garbage Point opposite our Kindergarten School. | would
like to register a strong protest against this policy of placing garbage bins in front of a School and on a
busy narrow road. This Kindergarten school gives education to a large number of very small children
of the pre-primary and as the Manager, | am responsible for the experience of these children. Not
only is their health at risk, but the Municipality is giving them a very bad example of how garbage is to
be managed, besides spoiling the whole cleanliness of the area around the School. | am told that
regular collection through a garbage truck coming at fixed times of the day/night has been successful
in adjoining roads. This could easily be done for St. Peter’s Road too. We will help in encouraging shop
keepers and residents to follow the proper norms of garbage disposal in a safe manner.
Please take urgent action in this matter as our children’s health and safety are of great
concern to us and I'm sure it is to you too, if not to the officials working under you.
Sincerely, i
Ra fin Mescantce “le
