The gospel passage describes Jesus taking Peter, James, and John up a mountain where he was transfigured before them. Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus, indicating he fulfills the law and prophets. God speaks from a cloud, affirming Jesus as his beloved son. The reflection notes that this Sunday is the second Sunday of Lent, and the gospel story speaks of transformation - that by following Christ, we transform ourselves into purer, more virtuous people for ourselves and others.

Mk 9:2-10 The amazing event of the Transfiguration, in which Jesus showed James, John, and Peter his heavenly splendor, is described in this chapter. The fact that Moses and Elijah are there indicates that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. Human wonder and a wish to respect this heavenly event are evident in Peter's answer. The voice from the cloud emphasizes the value of paying attention to Jesus while reaffirming his status as God's favored Son. Thinking back on this incident makes one consider the significance of Jesus' identity and how important it is to heed his teachings.

Priest: Fr. Vergilio Ojoy Parish: Jose manggagawa parish Gospel: Mk 9:2 - 10 Reflection: This week is the second sunday of lent. Our gospel talks about how Jesus lead a few selected disciples up a high mountain by themselves and transfigured himself in clothes that were a dazzling white. The gospel talks about tranformation. that when we follow our Lord, we will tranform ourselves into a purer and more virtuous version of ourselves. That when we follow Christ, we follow the will of the Lord and become better people and a better person, not only for us, but also for the people that surrounds us.
