Antimicrobial activity can be defined as a collective term for all active principles or agents that

inhibit the growth of bacteria, prevent the formation of microbial colonies, and may destroy

microorganism (Engineering Textiles as cited by Baldevraj et al., 2014). According to Mucha et

al., (2020) Antimicrobial activity refers to a situation where an active agent has a negative effect

on the vitality of microorganisms. In evaluating antibacterial activity both aqueous and organic

solvents were used. Kushagri (2019), Antibacterial as well as antiviral activity of a molecule is

completely associated with the compounds that provincially kill bacteria and virus or slow down

their rate of growth, without being extensively toxic to nearby tissues. Antimicrobial activity can

be defined as a collective term for all active principles or agents that inhibit the growth of

bacteria, prevent the formation of microbial colonies, and may destroy microorganism

(Engineering Textiles as cited by Baldevraj et al., 2014). Nine plants were screened for potential

antibacterial activity. Two methods, Agar disk diffusion and Agar ditch diffusion, were used to

study the antibacterial activity of the plants. Agar well diffusion method was used to screen the

antibacterial and antifungal activities of different solvent extracts (Daoud et al., 2015 as cited by

Gonelimali et al., 2018).
