Respected Sir/Madam,
It is respectfully stated that two days ago I reached to my village to spend my
weekend with my family. Last night my mother fell seriously   ill. We took her to the
village hospital for examination  and necessary   medication     . The
doctor there examined   her carefully and said that she had gone through a severe
  cardiovascular        pain. He advised us to take her to some big
hospital in the city and get her thorough    examined and treated. Without any delay
 , we rushed her to a famous cardiac    hospital in an ambulance. There, the doctor
examined her carefully and suggested     various blood tests, urine test and ECG.
After numerous    diagnostic   tests, the doctor finally recommended    that
she must undergo     the bypass surgery at the earliest. This sudden and threatening
    emergency threw my whole family in a whirl    of big challenges    and
quick    decisions. As I am the only male member currently      available     in
the family, the whole responsibility     lies on my shoulder.
Thus I must stay with her to ensure that she gets proper medical care, psychological  
support   and post-surgery medication. My stay with her will certainly alleviate   
her feelings of sickness, anxiety    and fear.
Keeping in view      my present circumstances     and the time such a


patient takes to recover       after bypass surgery, I request you to grant me leave of
absence from the college for a week i.e. from (start-date) to (end-date). I will definitely  
join the classes if I get free earlier but the usual routine tells that a patient going through
such a big operation takes at least one week to recover. I hope you will not disappoint   
  me about granting me leave. I have attached    the patient's report and the
doctor's recommendations       for your kind perusal  .
I know that this absence of mine would be very detrimental     to my studies. I deeply
regret     this interruption      in my studies during this critical period.
Nevertheless     , I assure you that I will leave no stone unturned      to offset
   this academic   loss. On my return, I intend       to collaborate    

closely with my peers    to complete my missed assignments     . My pervious  
academic record shows that I am a painstaking   student and will not disappoint   
  you in future. I am confident  
 that with a strenuous    effort, I will bridge
   any gaps in my studies and maintain the academic quality    you expect  

The village's distance and the associated   rituals      necessitate     

Respectfully, I request the remission   of the fine levied   on me due to my
five days' absence from college. The reason for this absence was the sudden illness of my
mother. I do know the importance of taking regular classes. My absence was not intentional
     . I could not afford     to neglect     my studies deliberately    .
There was a critical     cause of my absence from college. It was all due to the
stressful    circumstances     that I w as facing. I was handling such a
life-threatening     emergency    that I could not timely communicate
     my position to the college authorities      .
On my return, I was informed about the fine levied on me for my absence. Though I
do conform    to the college's rules and regulations   particularly     the
discipline    and absence fines, I am unable to pay the fine as my family is already
undergoing      a severe   financial     crisis   due to my mother's illness.
It is an absolute   truth that my absence resulted from circumstances    
beyond      my control. All the concerned   documents    , e.g. the doctor's
prescription   and medical certificate of my mother's illness, are attached   .
It is my reasonable   request that my genuine   position should be
considered   sympathetically    and the absence fine imposed   on me
should be remitted     . I am a painstaking   and dedicated       
student. My previous academic   record affirms   my claim. I hope you will remit
   my fine to enable me to continue my academic journey without any financial    
burden   .
