What do you need:
• fuzzy/ bulky yarn/ 5-6 wpi
• fine yarn/ sport/ 5 ply/ 12 wpi
• hook 4.5 mm or 5 mm for fuzzy yarn and 3 mm for sport yarn
• tapestry needle
• common sewing needle and threads
• 2 black mushroom buttons diameter 6 mm
• one flower button average 20 mm
• scissors
• toy filling

I used these yarns:

FOR THE BODY, HAIR, TAIL and EARS:
Brown sheep: Happy by YarnArt, 100% Polyester
Yarn weight: Bulky yarn/ 5 wpi, Yardage: 191 yards (175 meters), Unit weight: 100 grams
(1.76 ounces) Gauge: 26.0 sts = 4 inches

Color: 781 light coffee

You will need about 52 grams/ approximately 141 yards of yarn totally.
I used hook 4.5 mm/ US 7

Tip: Tip for an alternative material. You could use e.g. Pipsqueak by Bernat, 100%
Polyester, hook 5 mm/ US H

FOR THE HEAD, LEGS, EYES, EARS, HANDS and CHEEKS

Kacenka by Nitarna Ceska Trebova.
The mixture of 60% cotton 40% acrylic, Yarn weight: Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi) Yardage: 164
yards (150 meters) per 50g ball. You could buy this yarn here:
www.colorfulyarnshop.etsy.com

I used a hook 3 mm
Colors of Brown sheep: 7104 beige about 25 gram, small amount of 0010 white, 3324 light
pink, 3374 red

Tip: Tip for an alternative material. You could use e.g. Jeans renamed in 2016 as Gina by
Yarnart, Softfun by Scheepjeswool, Cotton Blend by Red heart, they all are very similar as
Kacenka.

The dimension of finished sheep: the sheep is 32 cm/12.6 inches tall. Please remember,
that the size of finished project depends on used material and your own style of crocheting too.

Needed skills:

You will use only basic stitches, but working with the fuzzy yarn needs some practice. I wrote
tips and advice, which could help you to work with this type of yarn :-) If you are interested in,

Abbreviations used – US terminology:
Chain (CH)
Slip stitch (SlSt)
Single crochet (SC)
Half double crochet (HDC)
Double crochet (DC)
BLO – crochet in back loops only
Increasing (inc): 2 SC in same stitch
Decreasing (dec): crochet 2 SC together
[ ] ...x times = repeat instructions in in brackets ... times
( ) = the number of the stitches at the end of the row/round

Instruction
The sheep consists of several parts – body, head, ears, cheeks, eyes, hands, legs and tail. You
will make all parts separately and then you will sew them together.

Body
• Use fuzzy yarn and crochet in spiral circle rounds. It means that you will not join the round
with SlSt and you will not turn the work after finishing of every round.

• Use small piece of contrast yarn or stitch marker and mark the end of the round with it.

• Crochet in back loops only. Insert a hook from middle to the back loop of next stitch. I used
contrast smooth yarn, to you could see better the stitches worked only into back loops only.
This bulging side becomes a wrong part of the work.
