Interpreting Studies
The Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies is designed to meet
the needs of proficient bilinguals who aim to work as professional
translators and interpreters.
Students will acquire the skills and knowledge to perform translating
and Interpreting in a range of community and commercial settings
in Australia and overseas.
• Focuses on acquiring the theory and practical skills relevant to
translating and Interpreting practice.
• Students are guided to conduct independent research and to complete
practicum projects with our industry partners in a variety of settings.
• Strong emphasis on technological skills to prepare students for a fast-
changing marketplace.
• Opportunities to learn interpreting in a state-of-the-art conference
interpreting lab.

1. cognate bachelor studies; or
2.evidence of one-year full-time relevant work experience:
a. as a language teacher employed by an educational institution (public or private) or
b. in professional writing, editing, journalism, interpreting or translating in a company, government organisation or non-government organisation, or
c. self-employment or freelance work in one of the occupational categories in (a) and (b) above.
