Reflection:
Your personal professional disposition statement.
I believe that my career as an educator should educate, empower, and uplift the next generation
of young minds. I desire to create an environment where my students feel seen and heard and are
willing to take risks in the classroom. I most importantly strive for my actions and words to be a
reflection the love of Christ through my teaching.
How your self-assessment supports your professional dispositions statement.
The values and expectations I have for myself, as stated in my professional dispositions
statement, align directly with my self-assessment. I strongly agreed with most of the statements
because they reflected my outlook on what a supportive teacher should provide for their students
and team.

The past year and a half I have had the opportunity to substitute for K-8th grade classrooms. With
this experience, I have had immense learning and growing moments which have prepared me for
my teaching career. One of the biggest areas I have grown in, is with my classroom management.
I have learned that it is extremely important to keep a boundary with students in order to
maintain respect. Being a young sub, it is easy for students to think I am merely their friend or
won’t care what they do, when in reality I still have expectations for them. This has made me
realize it is okay to be strict when needed, and building respect and trust from students may come
with time.
Discuss the connection between professional dispositions and the Model Code of Ethics.
I believe that the Model Code of Ethics and my professional disposition statement both
share the desire I have to commit and be responsible for my students and team.
Steps you will take to improve where necessary.
I anticipate to endure challenges with my classroom management throughout my student
teaching experience. I plan to communicate with my mentor to gain insight on how she would
handle certain situations. Along with the management system my mentor has, I also plan to
implement positive reinforcement to improve student behavior.
