REPOSITIONING: PATH TO EXCELLENCE

Text: Gen 41:14 – 44

Definition of Concepts:
 Repositioning - to put in a new or different position; adjust or alter the
position of something or someone.

 Path – a route, course or track along which something moves.

 Excellence – the quality of being outstanding or extremely good; achieving

greatness and being the very best.

Introduction:
Joseph is one of the Biblical characters that excelled. He went from being a
prisoner to becoming the Prime Minister of Ancient Egypt – the greatest
civilization in the world at that time. He was repositioned. Before making him
the Prime Minister, Pharaoh inquired from his officials; “Can we find such a
one as this is, a man in whom the spirit of God is?” Gen 41:38.
Joseph had the mark of excellence – he was better than everyone else.

JOSEPH’S EXPERIENCE OF REPOSITONING

Joseph went through numerous repositioning experiences before he became
Prime Minister of Egypt. God took him through a difficult and challenging path
but His presence was always with Joseph and the reward was far greater than
the pains he suffered.

Joseph’s path involved:

 Hatred of his brothers who sold him into slavery; Gen 37:23–28
 Service in Potiphar’s house, Gen 39:1-6
 Seduction and frame up by Potiphar’s wife, Gen 39:7–18
 Imprisonment on false accusation; Gen 39:19–23
 Interpretation of the Chief Butler and Chief Baker’s dreams; Gen 40:8–23
 Interpretation of Pharaoh’s dreams, Gen 41:14–32
 Appointment as Prime Minister; Gen 41:39–44
