FADE IN

EXT. SCOTTISH GLEN - MORNING

Frost steams off the glade as two horses run toward one
another from opposite directions.

On one, BECKY BARNHART (late 20’s, dashing red hair, flowing

white gown) with steeled determination as she approaches...

DENIS (late 20’s, black, straight out of Outlander), in full

stride then pulls the reins, brings the horse to a full stop.

He jumps off in one fluid, almost stunt-double motion,

landing square, arms out...

...as Becky jumps from her horse into his arms.

They embrace in an overly dramatic hug.

DENIS
My darling, I cannot leave you.

BECKY
Then don’t, my love.

They kiss. He swirls her into a dip, never breaking the kiss.
The melted mist coming up from the ground beneath them.

He brings her back up from the dip, stares into her eyes.

DENIS
I’ll never leave your side again.
(off her look)
They’re coming for you.

In the distance, an ARMY ON HORSEBACK in hot pursuit.

BECKY
I love you.

She closes her eyes for another kiss. He opens his mouth to
speak and the EXPLOSIVE sound of a JACKHAMMER fills the air.

Opens it again. The JACKHAMMER starts. His eyes widen. Panic.

Becky opens her eyes, perplexed...

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

Becky stirs in bed, tousled red hair across her pillow, as an

obnoxious jackhammer ROARS just outside her window.
2.

Becky pulls the covers over her head as both sunlight and
noise pollution blast into her bedroom.

More JACKHAMMER outside as she opens her eyes.

BECKY (O.C.)
It was just getting good.

She sighs and throws off the covers, then grabs her phone
next to the novel with kilt-wearing Denis on the cover.

ON PHONE

7:28 AM FEB 14

BACK TO SCENE

The noise BLASTS again and she’s shocked back to reality.

BECKY
I’m awake!

She gets up and glares out the window at JACKHAMMER GUY,

banging away on that contraption just outside her window,
then disappears into the bathroom.

INT. APARTMENT HALLWAY - LATER

Becky hurries down the hallway to the second floor stairway,

holding the door open for JOYCE CLEMENTS (80’s and
independent), back from her daily morning bodega run.

BECKY
Morning, Mrs. Clements!

JOYCE
(out of breath)
Good...morning...dear.

Joyce shuffles slowly down the hallway, as Becky disappears

through the doorway.

INT. SUBWAY TRAIN - LATER

Denis (late 20’s, black, could be on the cover of a romance

novel) works on a crossword puzzle and checks his watch as
the train slows toward a station.

Train comes to a stop, and he gets up and leaves the car.

3.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky emerges from the lobby and out to the beautiful, crisp
winter day in New York City. Sunshine on blue sky.

She closes her eyes and inhales. Smiles wide.

Then she JUMPS as the ROAR of that damn jackhammer scares the
shit out of her.

She GLARES at the job site, then walks the opposite way,
rounds the corner, and disappears into a subway entrance.

INT. SUBWAY STATION- LATER

After using her Metrocard to enter, Becky rushes toward the

platform and just catches the train, smiling at her luck.

A digital clock on the wall reads 8:22 as the train leaves.

EXT. DOWNTOWN - LATER

Denis walks past a BODEGA holding a coffee just as-

Becky exits the subway staircase in front of the BODEGA with

a neon $918 Million Powerball Jackpot sign, then merges into
pedestrian traffic toward her work in the opposite direction.

Disappears into a BAKERY.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky walks with coffee and purse in one hand, large bag from
the bakery in her other. She adjusts her grip on the bag and
rounds the corner of her office building...

...and just misses BUSINESS GUY with earbuds in. They’re so

close, they both jump back, Business Guy spilling his coffee.

BECKY BUSINESS GUY

Oops! Sorry! Hey...watch it!
Annoyed, Business Guy spins around and flips her off.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Geez, I said I was sorry!

Becky frowns, turns and walks toward the building entrance.

4.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky steps out of an elevator and into the lobby of “In Any
Event”, greeted by LISA (20’s, chirpy receptionist), buried
behind vases of delivered roses and floral bouquets.

LISA
Good morning, Miss Barnhart! Crazy
busy up here. Guess there’s lots of
making up to do since last year!

BECKY
I can see that. Any messages?

LISA
A ton of calls already.
(hands her a stack)
Warning...Charles is losing his
mind about the party tonight.

BECKY
He always does.

The phone rings and Lisa takes it as Becky heads down the...

HALLWAY

...and greets everyone by name as she passes out Valentines

Cookies along the way.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Morning, Amy. Love the flowers.
Follow up on the Adler party and
let me know if they change dates?
(to the left)
Love the outfit, Carlo. Can’t wait
to see what you bring tonight! Send
me the Cassidy file, please?
(to the right)
Hey Brianne. You’re so festive! How
are we looking for tonight? Send me
the updated report? Thanks.
(turns, holds up the bag)
More cookies up here. Happy
Valentine’s Day, everyone!

She turns and hands the bag to LEXI POOLE (28, black, spiked
red tips, long fingernails), waiting just outside her office.

LEXI
Gimme some of that sugar.
Lexi grabs a couple of big red heart cookies, sets the bag on
a nearby table, then wipes her lips with a long fingernail.
5.

INT. BECKY'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Becky takes off her coat as Lexi nibbles on her cookie. Hands
her the other one.

LEXI
How you doin’ today?

BECKY
Good, I guess.

LEXI
It’s just...you know, Valentine’s
Day and I worry about you, is all.

Becky doesn’t look up as she empties items from her purse on

her desk: phone, note book, this week’s romance novel.

BECKY
My only worry is the Gala. If it’s
not perfect...or if I forgot
something, I can kiss that
promotion goodbye.

LEXI
None of that. You’ve put your whole
heart into it. We all have. But I’m
more concerned about you. I know
today has to hurt.

Becky takes a moment, collects herself. Looks at Lexi, eyes

stung by a distant sadness.

BECKY
What happened with Chad is in the
past. He broke off the engagement.
I don’t want to think about him
anymore. Which is why..
(taps book)
I’ve moved on to Denis. And Ramon.
And Juan. And--

LEXI
--Yeah, well, now that we can all
get back out there again for real,
maybe it’s time for you to get back
out there, you know what I mean?
Get out from behind those books and
maybe find love again. Real love?

BECKY
I have as much chance as finding
real love as I do winning Powerball
tonight. Get real.
6.

LEXI
Gotta be in it to win it, girl.

Lexi takes a bite of her cookie...wiping the frosting off her

lips with those long nails again.

LEXI (CONT'D)
(chewing)
By the way, you see Charles yet? I
think he’s finally lost his mind.

Lexi makes an explosion motion over her head.

BECKY
I’m sure he’ll find me when-

CHARLES (O.S.)
Thank God you’re here.

Enter CHARLES NIEMAN (late 50’s, grey hair, permanent stress

wrinkles on forehead), rushing through the door and
interrupting Lexi’s breakfast.

He looks at Lexi...still chewing...then turns back to Becky.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
(to Lexi)
Excuse me, Lexi...
(to Becky)
Please tell me we are all set for
tonight. I can’t express the
importance of everything going-

Becky is way ahead of him, as she circles around the other

side of Lexi...who’s still chewing...toward the door.

BECKY
Charles, take a breath. Everything
is set...

She steps just outside her office and grabs a frosted Cupid
cookie, still talking.

BECKY (CONT'D)
(re-enters office)
I’m heading over to the hotel soon
to check on the finishing touches.

CHARLES
Yes, but the fundraiser is critical
to all the families in need, not to
mention there might be a promotion,
and this--
7.

She hands the cookie to Charles.

BECKY
--and this is the first big post-
COVID party for everyone. The
fundraiser will be gigantic. So,
take a deep breath, relax and have
a cookie.

He takes the cookie.

CHARLES
Call me after the sign off?

BECKY
Of course. See you tonight.

Charles takes a bite and smiles. Then heads back out.

LEXI
Girl, you need to teach a
Masterclass in that calming shit.
You would make bank.

BECKY
He just needed some sugar.

LEXI
Don’t we all.

Lexi takes another bite.

BECKY
Do me a favor? Send me the final
RSVP’s and client lists? I’ll
review when I’m there. In fact...

Becky grabs her coat and puts it back on. Lexi follows with
her eyes as she keeps eating.

BECKY (CONT'D)
...I might as well just go now.
He’ll never leave me alone if I
stay here. Email me that info?

LEXI
I got you.

Becky re-packs her purse and heads out.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Hey, stop by early and we’ll all go
together. Jim got us a limo!
8.

BECKY
Be there at six! Text you later!

And she’s gone.

Lexi stays right where she’s been sitting all along, then
takes another big bite of that heart shaped cookie.

LEXI
So good.

Then cleans the frosting off her lips with her long nails.

EXT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - AFTERNOON

She rounds the corner with a garment bag over her shoulder
and shopping bag in hand as the construction crew packs up
for the day. Jackhammer Guy loads the tools on the truck.

She catches his eye...his muscles...and he catches hers.

She stops in her tracks.

Points at her watch. Points at her window just above where he

is standing. Then puts her hands together, closes her eyes
and rests her head on them like a little pillow.

Opens her eyes...pleading.

He chuckles. Points at his watch. Then shrugs his shoulders.

BECKY
Had to try!

She chuckles back and heads inside.

INT. LOBBY - CONTINUOUS

Holding one bag in her mouth to free up a hand, she opens her
mailbox and reaches in.

Pulls out a SINGLE RED ENVELOPE. She flips it over. Blank.

BECKY
Hmmm.

She closes the box, re-distributes the bags, and disappears

up the stairway.
9.

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

She swings the door open and places the bags down on the
nearest chair, while fishing out the envelope.

She flips it around, curious as she walks into the kitchen

and opens the envelope, pulls out a Glittery Red Heart card.

BECKY
Aww, so cute.

She opens the card and...

BAM!!

A CLOUD of RED GLITTER explodes in her face. Her hair. Over

her shoulder. On the counter. On the floor. Everywhere.

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

Becky looks toward the noise pollution blasting into her

bedroom. Irritated...and a bit confused.

BECKY
What the...

She sits up in bed. Looks toward the noise. Then picks up her
phone and looks at it.

ON PHONE

7:28 AM FEB 14

BACK TO SCENE

Now very, definitely confused.

BECKY
...fuuuu--

The NOISE blasts again outside, shakes her from thought.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Alright! Alright!
She gets out of bed and disappears into the bathroom.
10.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

As Becky enters from the stairwell, she passes Joyce, grocery

bag in hand, headed right for her. Same outfit as yesterday.

JOYCE
Good morning, dear.

Becky pauses a moment...looks to the top of the stairwell,

and then back at Joyce. Deja vu?

BECKY
Morning...Mrs. Clements. See you
later.

JOYCE
You too.

Becky stops to watch Joyce pass into the stairwell, then

spies over at the mailboxes. I wonder...

She walks over to the mailbox, takes out her key. Opens it.

Pulls out a single RED ENVELOPE.

BECKY
No way!

She RIPS open the envelope and--

BAM!! GLITTER BOMB!

Red glitter explodes from the envelope all over her face and
hair and shoulders and--

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

Becky sits up in a panic.

BECKY
Holy shit.

Reaches over and grabs her phone. Stares at it.

The NOISE from outside JARS her back to reality.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Holy shit.
11.

She jumps out of bed, grabs some clothes, then disappears

into the bathroom.

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

She rushes past the art deco wall clock in the kitchen which
reads seven-fifty, and out the door.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

Becky speeds out the stairwell and rushes to the mailbox.

Opens the mailbox. The RED ENVELOPE.

BECKY
Holy shit.

She stuffs it in her purse, slams the door shut, heads out.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky hurries around the corner toward the subway entrance,

and spies Joyce walking toward her way down the street.

BECKY
Morning Mrs. Clements! See you
later!

Joyce barely notices as she waves from afar.

INT. SUBWAY STATION - LATER

She waits on the platform, anxious. Looks around, notices the

digital clock. It reads 8:08.

The train rushes in, comes to a stop, and she gets in.

Moments later, the doors close and the subway heads out.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky walks with purpose as she rounds the corner of her

office building...

...and plows SMACK into Denis. Coffee spills down the front
of his coat, as Becky falls backwards. Denis drops his papers
and reaches out for her instead...
DENIS BECKY
Ooh, careful... I’m so sorry-
12.

...catching her before she falls down.

DENIS (CONT'D)
So sorry...you okay?

BECKY
Oh, no, my fault. Really.

Denis helps her up and they collect themselves.

BECKY (CONT'D)
I’ve ruined your coat.

DENIS
No, not at all. I’ll clean it up at
the bakery-
BECKY DENIS (CONT'D)
(points) (points)
-right down there. -right down there.
DENIS (CONT'D)
That’s the one. I’m Denis.

BECKY
Becky.
They shake hands, eyes never leaving each other.

DENIS
Like I said, the bakery. Can I get
you a coffee?

BECKY
A coffee?

DENIS
You know, hot morning beverage?
Sometimes we wear it?

He points toward his coat...then the bakery.

Suddenly remembers where she was headed. What’s going on.

BECKY
Oh..um..coffee. Yeah, thanks, can’t
right now. Sorry about your coat!

DENIS
It’s fine. Happy Valentine’s Day.

BECKY
You too.
13.

Becky hurries off toward the office building as Denis checks

his watch and looks over his shoulder at Becky as he does.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky steps out of the elevator and zips past Lisa, buried
behind the growing wall of flowers.

LISA
Good morning, Miss Barnhart! Crazy
busy up here. Guess there’s lots of
making up to do since last year!

She holds up a stack of messages but Becky is already down

the-

HALLWAY

- heading toward her office.

Becky rushes over to Lexi’s cubicle and startles her.

BECKY
Lex...I need you.

LEXI
Oh sugar, I need you too. Where are
the cookies?

BECKY
(pulls out envelope)
You won’t believe what’s happening.
Open this.

LEXI
You shouldn’t have.

Lexi takes the envelope and opens it up.

Becky flinches as she does.

Lexi notices.

LEXI (CONT'D)
What?

BECKY
Nothing. Go on.
Lexi pulls out the card...the red glittery heart.
14.

LEXI
You know I love sparkles.

Lexi opens it.

Becky flinches again.

LEXI (CONT'D)
What?!

Becky waves her off as nothing happens.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Aww babe...I love you too. You got
true love right here. You know it.

She stands and hugs her. Becky is stiff as a board. Totally

confused. Where’s the glitter?

They separate and Becky takes the card from her.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Everything okay? Is it Chad?

BECKY
Chad? No. It’s-
Curious, Becky opens it and...

BAM!! GLITTER BOMB!

The red GLITTER BOMB explodes in Becky’s face.

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

Becky sits up, slamming her fists on the bed.

BECKY
Oh, c’mon!

Reaches for her phone, jumps out of bed, and hustles into the
bathroom while the NOISE chatters on outside.

MONTAGE OF MORNING ROUTINE

- Becky stops at mailbox. Pulls out the RED ENVELOPE. Stuffs
it in her purse and rushes out.
15.

- Becky waves at Joyce as she heads down the subway entrance.

- Sits anxious on the subway train, trying to avoid the

STREET PERFORMER magician on the car.

- Exits the subway entrance outside the bodega and rushes

down the crowded pedestrian walkway.

- She passes the bakery full speed, eyes forward. We stay

here for a moment.

- Denis walks out of the bakery with a cup of coffee. Looks

down at his watch, confused. Then walks the opposite
direction from Becky.

END MONTAGE

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky steps out of the elevator and zips past Lisa, buried
behind the growing wall of flowers.

LISA
Good morning, Miss Barnhart! Crazy
busy up--

She start to hold up a stack of messages but Becky is already

down the-

HALLWAY

- heading toward her office.

Becky rushes over to Lexi’s cubicle, startles her when she

grabs her hand and drags her into-

BECKY'S OFFICE

- then turns and stares into Lexi’s eyes. Panic.

BECKY
Lex...listen to me very carefully.

LEXI
Are you okay? Where the cookies?

BECKY
(hands her envelope)
Open this and read it out loud.
16.

LEXI
You shouldn’t have.

Lexi takes the envelope and opens it up.

Becky backs up as she does.

Lexi pulls out the card...the red glittery heart.

LEXI (CONT'D)
You know I love sparkles.

Lexi opens it.

Becky flinches and backs up some more.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Aww babe...I love you too. You got
true love right--

BECKY
What does it say?

Lexi starts to hand the card to her, but Becky backs away
from it like Dracula to garlic.
BECKY (CONT'D)
Careful! Don’t point it at me.

LEXI
What’s going on? Is this from Chad?

BECKY
What, Chad? No. It’s just-

Becky gathers herself. About to explain the unexplainable.

BECKY (CONT'D)
I’m pretty sure I’m trapped in
Valentine’s Day.

LEXI
(sighs)
Look, I know Chad hurt you, but-

BECKY
Fuck Chad! Listen, I’m literally
trapped in Valentine’s Day! I keep
waking up today with that damn
jackhammer and getting THAT card
and then it glitter bombs me and--
LEXI
--glitter bomb?
17.

BECKY
Yes.

LEXI
With this card.

BECKY
Yes. What does it say?

LEXI
The card?

Lexi starts to turn it around to show Becky, but she backs

away from it again like it’s the plague.

BECKY
No..no..just read it out loud.

Lexi looks down at the card in her hand. Reads aloud.

LEXI
Your true love is right in front of
you. Just open your eyes.

Becky paces back and forth, deep in thought and panic.

BECKY
This feels like one of my books.

LEXI
Maybe you have a secret admirer.
Your true love?

BECKY
And I need to find him.

LEXI
Maybe tonight at--

BECKY LEXI (CONT'D)

--the Gala. --the Gala.
LEXI (CONT'D)
This is just like Cinderella,
except the shoe’s on the other foot
now. We’re gunna hook you up!

Just then, Charles enters her office.

CHARLES
Thank God you’re here.
(to Lexi)
Excuse me, Lexi...
(to Becky)
18.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Please tell me we are all set for
tonight. I can’t express the
importance of everything going well
tonight. After all, there’s a promo-

Becky steps forward and seizes control.

BECKY
--Charles, we’re all set. I was
just heading out now to handle
those last minute details. Isn’t
that right, Lex?

LEXI
You know it.

CHARLES
But the fundraiser-

BECKY
We’re all over it.

CHARLES
Keep me-

BECKY
-in the loop. See you tonight.
(to Lexi)
Forward me the guest lists?

LEXI
I got you.

Becky heads out, leaving Charles and Lexi in her office.

Lexi looks over at Charles.

LEXI (CONT'D)
You want a cookie? I’ll go get ‘em.

EXT. HOTEL - NIGHT

A stretch limousine pulls up outside the festive hotel lit up

in white spotlights.

A DOORMAN steps forward and opens the back door, as Becky

steps out. Then Lexi and her partner, JIM (late 20’s, shifty
eyes, thinks he’s all that).

DOORMAN
Welcome to The Pierre.

Lexi looks up at the lights, then at Becky.

19.

LEXI
Nice touch on the spots, girl.

BECKY
It’s all in the details.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

The three of them walk in and Lexi gasps in wonderment at the

décor. White floral bouquets on the tables, along with red
and white glitter hearts floating above the room, all
reflected against a wall of mirrors across the ballroom.

LEXI
Look at this! It’s so incredible!

JIM
Yeah, it’s...nice.

LEXI
(punches Jim’s shoulder)
Ignore him. It’s amazing.

Becky smiles as she looks around...a small group of folks on

the dance floor grooving to the DJ on stage, handfuls of
people mingling about the bar and food tables.

BECKY
So far, so good, I guess.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Thank God you’re here!

Charles sees Becky from across the room and makes a beeline
toward her.

BECKY
Spoke too soon.
(beams)
Charles! So good to see--

CHARLES
(to Lexi)
Excuse us.

Charles pulls Becky away from the others and whispers

urgently in her ear.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
We have a problem.
BECKY
I’m sure we can figure it-
20.

CHARLES
Cupid is dead.

BECKY
-out. Wait...what?

CHARLES
Well, not dead dead, I don’t think
but not really alive alive either.

BECKY
Charles, what the hell are you
talking about?

CHARLES
He’s in a coma, I think.

BECKY
Cupid’s in a coma?

CHARLES
He was on his bike crossing 36th
and got hit by a cab. It’s awful!

BECKY
Cupid was riding a bike on 36th?

CHARLES
OUR Cupid. For tonight? The
fundraiser!

BECKY
Oh...OH! Oh my god. How terrible!
And he’s in a coma?

CHARLES
Coma, cast, concussion...I’m not
sure. But he’s not here! What are
we going to do?

Becky guides Charles toward the bar.

BECKY
I’ll take care of this.

CHARLES
I just knew something bad was going
to happen tonight. But killing
Cupid...oh, dear.

BECKY
Cupid’s not dead. I’ll check in on
him tomorrow. Quick, drink this.
21.

Becky hands him a glass of rosé champagne. He chugs it.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Good.
(hands him another)
Now sip on this one. Deep breaths.

Becky makes her escape as she heads over to Lexi and Jim, who
seems distant and distracted.

LEXI
Everything is going so well! Maybe
you’ll find your true love tonight
after all.

BECKY
Not with Cupid in a coma.

LEXI
Cupid in a what?

BECKY
No time to explain. Be right back.

Becky heads over to a near empty side table highlighting

MYSTERY HEART NOTES for charity, picks up a small stack, a
PIN with a number on it, and heads toward the DJ on the-

STAGE

Becky approaches the DJ, who removes his headphone as she

whispers in his ear. He smiles, nods, and hands her a
microphone as he turns down the beats.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Good evening, everyone! May I have
your attention, please?
(on the hush)
Happy Valentine’s Day and thank you
for coming out tonight for such a
special cause!

She holds up the heart-shaped cards.

BECKY (CONT'D)
When you came in tonight, you were
given a numbered heart pin, like
this...
(holds up a pin)
...so someone who might want to
purchase one of these Mystery Heart
Notes can identify the number to
whom should receive their notes.
22.

The crowd murmurs.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Send one to your co-worker, your
wife, your boyfriend, your
significant other...or just say
hello to a new friend. But each
purchase helps a family in need,
and after what we all just went
through with COVID-19, there are a
lot of families who need our help.

The audience applauds.

BECKY (CONT'D)
We’ll have prizes at the end of the
night for those who buy the most
Mystery Hearts, so come find me at
the side table.
(raises a glass)
Looks like I’m Cupid tonight, so
Happy Valentine’s Day and let’s
make some new friends!

More applause as she hands the microphone back to the DJ, who
instantly cranks up the music and gets people on the floor.

AT TABLE

Becky helps a WOMAN finish up the final touches of her

Mystery Heart, handing back her credit card.

BECKY
Thank you so much for the donation.
Cupid will deliver your message!

The woman smiles and walks off as Becky taps on the computer,
interrupted by the next customer.

STU (O.S.)
What’s a guy gotta do to get your
number?

Becky looks up to find STU (28, slick black hair) leaning

forward on the table. All smarm, no charm.

BECKY
Did you really just use that line?

STU
I meant the heart. Where’s your
pin? What if someone wanted to send
you a message?
23.

Becky knows a sale when she’s got one.

BECKY
Well, how about you get your pin...
(hands him one)
Then fill these out...
(hands him several cards)
And then Cupid herself will deliver
them to the lucky person.

Stu isn’t the smartest tool in the shed, but he’s getting it.

STU
So, like...I could put my own
number down and you would have to
deliver it to me.

BECKY
See? You ARE as smart as you look.
(which isn’t saying much)
And so generous, too. A wonderful
donation to a worthy cause.

He smiles and picks up several more hearts, then hands her

his credit card. She runs it. Sold.

STU
See you later, Cupid.

BECKY
Until then.

Stu walks off as the next customer RAJ (early 30’s, flowing
hair) approaches, chuckling. Hands her a credit card.

RAJ
That was well played.

BECKY
I’m sure I don’t know what you’re
talking about.
(chuckle blushes)
But thank you for being here. How
many would you like?

RAJ
Just the one.

BECKY
Of course.

She hands Raj a Heart Note and hands him back his card,
flipping the screen around for him to sign.
24.

RAJ
Along with a donation.

BECKY
That’s so thoughtful, thank you.
Are you enjoying the party?

RAJ
It’s nice to get together again. To
get out and dance, you know?

BECKY
It is! See you on the dance floor?

RAJ
I’ll hold you to it.

Raj walks off while Becky chats up another customer.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky makes the rounds as Cupid, wearing a ridiculous pair of

red feather wings, matching up individual numbers with the
notes in her hand. She forces a smile with every delivery.

She looks down at a small stack, all for the same number, and
rolls her eyes as she looks through the crowd.

Stu is talking it up with another WOMAN as Becky approaches.

BECKY
Cupid has a special delivery.

The woman looks at her and mouths ‘thank you’ as she speeds
toward the bar. Becky hands Stu the notes.

STU
I believe these are all for you.

BECKY
Aw, aren’t you the sweet one. But
Cupid’s got a busy night with all
these other notes to deliver!

STU
Yeah, but...

BECKY
Bye!

Becky pretends to find another target and walks off pointing

toward someone, not looking where she’s going.
25.

As she turns to get away from Stu, she runs SMACK into Denis,
spilling his drink down his shirt.

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS

Oh my God! I’m so sorry- Oh, I beg your par-
Becky starts to wipe his shirt with a couple of the Mystery
Notes, then stops mid-dab.
BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (CONT'D)
Wait a minute- I can’t believe-
She grabs his hand and rushes him toward a side table.

DENIS (CONT'D)
We did this already, didn’t we?

BECKY
Holy shit, it’s you? Coffee guy?

DENIS
I knew it! Why is this happening?

BECKY
Wait, you know? How do you know?

DENIS
I don’t know anything except today
keeps being today.

BECKY
Holy shit. Let me think.

Denis starts to reach into his jacket pocket.

DENIS
I keep getting this-

CHARLES (O.S.)
Becky! There you are. Thank God.

BECKY
Oh god, it’s my boss again. Look,
I’ll be right back. Stay right
here. Don’t go anywhere.

Becky starts to walk off, still looking at Denis.

DENIS
I’ll be right here. And you might
want to look where you’re going.
Becky turns around and barely misses a caterer carrying a
tray of champagne. That was close.
26.

Becky winces...then walks toward Charles.

BECKY
Charles, can you hold on a-

CHARLES
We need to get the prizes started.

Becky looks over and watches Lexi and Jim engage in a heated
discussion just up ahead.

Jim stands, phone in hand, defiant. Arguing.

Lexi, still seated, points at it. At him. Animated.

BECKY
(distracted)
Great idea. You should go up-

CHARLES
No, YOU need to take care of this.

She watches Jim storm off, leaving Lexi at the table.

Lexi looks down, visibly upset.

Becky walks toward her when...

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Did you hear what I said?

Becky looks back over at Lexi’s table. She’s gone.

BECKY
Fine. I’m going.

As she walks toward the stage, she glances at the side table
for Denis. He’s gone too.

Up on stage, the DJ hands her the microphone and turns down

the music.

BECKY (CONT'D)
It’s prize time, people! Thank you
all again so much for coming out!

The crowd applauds as Becky half-heartedly smiles, scanning

the room for Lexi and Denis...finding only Stu instead.

Stu waves at her. And winks.

Ugh.
27.

EXT. HOTEL - LATER

Cabs and limos queued up, as guests pile in and head home.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky surveys a near empty room as caterers and hotel staff

clean up. Charles walks up from behind, checking his phone.

CHARLES
It was a good party, but wish the
fundraiser had done better.

BECKY
I’m sorry, Charles. I wish we had
too. I did what I could.

CHARLES
I’m sure you did.

BECKY
So I guess the promotion...

CHARLES
Wish I could. Maybe next time.

Pulls out Powerball ticket, tosses it on a table.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Even bought one of these stupid
things. Oh well. Goodnight, then.

BECKY
I’m going to make sure everything
is good before I head out.

Charles leaves while Becky picks up the lottery ticket and

abandoned Heart Notes and tosses them in the trash.

She spots a GLITTERY RED MYSTERY HEART leaning against the

centerpiece of a neighboring table.

She walks over to the table and picks up the card. Flips it
over. It reads CUPID.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Real cute, Stu.

She opens up the card and...

BAM!!! RED GLITTER bombards her in the face.

SMASH CUT TO:

28.

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

Becky sits up. Looks around. Disappointed.

BECKY
Dammit.

Disappears under the covers.

The jackhammer ROARS again. And again.

She pops back up and grabs her phone. Disappears back under
the covers. We hear distant RINGING through the speakerphone.

BECKY (O.C.) (CONT'D)

Hey Lexi. Not coming in. Could you
pick up the cookies? Yeah, I’m not
sure, but I’ll let you know later.
Thanks.

She reaches out for her romance novel, grabs it, and pulls it
under the covers.

A moment of peace and quiet passes. Just one.

The jackhammer ROARS as she pops out from under the covers,
hair amess, closes her book, and glares at the window.

BECKY (CONT'D)
That does it!

She gets up, rushes to the window and opens up the sash.
Looks down at the Jackhammer Guy pounding away.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Hey you! Muscles!!

Several of the construction crew notice Becky in the window

yelling down and signal Jackhammer Guy he’s being summoned.

He looks up, points at himself.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Yeah you. Could you just...stop for
a couple minutes? Take a break or
something? I’m in the middle of an
existential crisis.

Jackhammer Guy looks at her with a confused look. Takes a

moment, then points at his watch. Shrugs. Gets back to work.

Becky slams the window. Then shoots a glance at the door.

29.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

She hustles over to the mailbox. Stops.

Her eyes fixated on the red envelope behind the mailbox.

She reaches in and grabs it.

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

Her eyes still fixated on the envelope as it sits propped up

on her kitchen counter.

She chews on a banana as she stares at it across the room.

Then in a burst of decision-making, she grabs it, opens up

the cabinet under the sink, and tosses it in the garbage.
Slams the cabinet shut.

BECKY
Not gunna open it. Not gunna leave.

Satisfied, she disappears into the bedroom.

INT. BAKERY - LATER

Denis sits at one of the tables, coffee getting cold as he

stares at a Valentine card. A red envelope sits nearby.

He closes it and taps it on the table. Thinking.

LEXI (O.S.)
Picking up for In Any Event.

Denis looks over to see Lexi accept the bag of cookies and
swipe her credit card.

LEXI (CONT'D)
(waves to cashier)
Happy Valentine’s Day!

He watches her pay and leave, then puts the card back in the
envelope, finishes his coffee, and checks his watch.

Looks around at everyone, just having a normal day.

DENIS
This is so weird.
30.

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky emerges from the bedroom and heads to the kitchen to

fill her coffee cup. She puts her cup in the Keurig and hits
the brew button.

As the coffee maker spits up and fills her cup, she can’t
keep her eyes off the cabinet door under the sink.

The coffee maker finishes belching the last gasps of fluid

into her cup and she opens one of her kitchen drawers...

BAM!! GLITTER BOMB!

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

Becky sits up in a panic.

BECKY
What the actual fuck?

She starts to pull the covers up over her head, but stops.
Looks around her bedroom. Grabs one of her romance novels.

She brings it over to her slowly.

Opens it abruptly...like a ‘gotcha’.

Relaxes. Exhales.

Eyes engage on the opened page and she starts to read.

Skims her fingers down the page quickly as she reaches the
bottom. The look in her eyes locked in...it’s getting hot.

She prepares to turn the page as she gets to the last word...

...she brings her face closer to the book...

...then turns the page quickly...

BAM! GLITTER BOMB!!

SMASH CUT TO:

31.

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window and

Becky’s eyes open slowly. Defeated.

BECKY
Fine. I’m getting up.

And she does...disappearing into the bathroom.

MONTAGE OF MORNING ROUTINE

- Becky stops at the mailbox. Pulls out the RED ENVELOPE.

Stuffs it in her purse and rushes out.

- Becky waves at Joyce as she heads down the subway entrance.

- Exits the subway entrance outside the bodega and rushes

down the crowded pedestrian walkway.

- Rounds the corner of her building...without incident.

END MONTAGE

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky steps out of the elevator and zips past Lisa, buried
behind a growing wall of flowers.

LISA
Good morning, Miss Barnhart! Crazy
busy up-

She starts to hold up a stack of messages but Becky is

already down the-

HALLWAY

- heading toward her office.

Becky rushes past Lexi’s cubicle and gets her attention.

BECKY
Lex...my office. Now.

Becky doesn’t break stride as she enters-

32.

BECKY'S OFFICE

- and Lexi follows her inside.

LEXI
Hey girl. Happy Valentine’s-

Becky paces back and forth, trying to think this out.

BECKY
Lex...I need you.

LEXI
Oh sugar, I need you too. You get
the cookies?

BECKY
Fuck the cookies. Listen,
hypothetically, if you had to
replay the same day over and over
again, and had to find your true
love, how would you do it?

LEXI
I was afraid this was going to
happen today. You need to let go--

BECKY
(frustrated)
--fuck Chad, too. He has nothing to
do with this.
(concerned)
I’m freaking out!

Lexi walks to her and takes her hands in hers.

LEXI
I’m here. Talk to me.

BECKY
None of it makes sense.

LEXI
Try me.

Becky takes a moment, about to explain the unexplainable.

33.

BECKY
I’m stuck in Valentine’s Day and
random glitter bombs keep
restarting the day with a dream
about a Scotsman on a horse and a
jackhammer wakes me up and then
here I am again and, oh yeah, there
might be another guy in here with
me but I have no idea who it is and
it keeps going on and on and on and
it won’t stop.

LEXI
(confused)
So yeah, I’m not going to pretend
to understand what the hell you’re
saying, but I’m here for you.
(looks in her eyes)
How can I help? What can I do?

Becky takes a breath. Comforted by her friend.

BECKY
I need to figure this out. Need to
find this guy. Can you run point on
the Gala tonight? Finalize the
details at the hotel and all that?

LEXI
I got that. And I got you.

They hug.

BECKY
Thank you. I’ll ping you later.

Becky leaves the office just as Charles walks in.

CHARLES
Thank God you’re--

Becky doesn’t even stop as she passes him leaving her office.

BECKY
Lexi’s on it. Gotta go.

CHARLES
But the fundraiser!

Lexi walks up beside Charles, still confused.

LEXI
You look like you could use a
cookie.
34.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky walks with purpose as she rounds the corner of her

office building...

...and plows SMACK into Denis. Coffee spills down the front
of his coat. Again.
DENIS BECKY
Ooh, careful... I’m so sorry-

DENIS (CONT'D) BECKY (CONT'D)

Becky? It’s you...
DENIS (CONT'D)
Why is this happening? One minute
I’m at the gala cleaning my shirt,
the next I’m waking up to-

BECKY
A jackhammer?

DENIS
A jackhammer?

BECKY
For me it’s a jackhammer.
DENIS
What’s a jackhammer?

BECKY
Never mind. We need to figure out
whatever the hell this is...out.
There’s a bakery--

DENIS BECKY (CONT'D)

--right down there. --right down there.
DENIS (CONT'D)
(looks down at stained
shirt)
Buy you a coffee?

Becky nods, trying to wrap her head around all this.

Denis checks his watch as they walk toward the bakery.

INT. BAKERY - LATER

They sit at a side table, coffee getting cold. Becky takes

control.
35.

BECKY
So you don’t remember anything
after the Gala?

DENIS
Not a thing.

DENIS (CONT'D)
All I know I was cleaning my shirt-
(as he cleans his coat)
-and then comes this crazy dream I
keep having. Next thing I know,
it’s...this morning. Again.

Becky looks off, deep in thought. Then down at her purse.

Becky pulls out the RED ENVELOPE. Hands it to him.

BECKY
I think this is what’s doing it.

DENIS
Doing it?

BECKY
Go ahead and open it but DON’T
point it at me.

DENIS
What?

BECKY
Just open it.

Becky flinches as he opens the card. Denis reads it, smiles.

DENIS
That’s nice.
(reaches into coat)
I got someth-

BECKY
To be honest, I thought it might be
you, but here we still are. Still
here. Still today. So, guess not.

Denis frowns a bit, brings his empty hand out of his coat.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Yeah, sorry. Lex thinks it must be
someone at the Gala, though. God, I
hope it’s not that Stu guy.

Confused, Denis flips the card around toward her.

36.

DENIS
But what why would this card--

BECKY
--NO!

Too late. As the card faces Becky...GLITTER BOMB!!

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious jackhammer ROARS from outside the window.

She rolls over in bed, pissed.

BECKY
That does it!

The jackhammer BLASTS again from outside and she throws off
the covers and stomps out of bed. Glares at the window as she
disappears into the bathroom.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

Becky rushes out of the stairwell to the mailboxes.

Takes out the RED ENVELOPE and SLAMS it into the trash.

BECKY
Not today, asshole.

Then storms out the door.

INT. SUBWAY CAR - LATER

The doors close and the train pulls out, leaving late-comers
on the platform behind.

The STREET MAGICIAN makes his way down the car, showcasing
lame ass card tricks for entertainment and tips.

Becky looks away before any eye contact can be made.

EXT. DOWNTOWN - LATER

Becky emerges from the subway terminal, past the bodega, and
into the pedestrian traffic. Eyes forward, determined.

She passes the bakery. And we stay here for a moment...

37.

...as Denis walks out of the bakery, looks both ways for a
long moment, another confused look on his face, then flows
into pedestrian traffic in the opposite direction.

He rounds the opposite corner, past the bodega just outside

the subway entrance Becky walked out of, continues down the
street, then disappears into an office building.

EXT. DOWNTOWN - CONTINUOUS

Becky gets to the corner of the building and rounds it

quickly, almost bumping into someone as she does.

BECKY
Excuse me--

She stops in her tracks. Eyes wide. Turns and looks toward
the bakery.

BECKY (CONT'D)
The bakery!

She rushes back toward the bakery and runs inside.

INT. BAKERY - CONTINUOUS

Looks up and down the line of tables. Nothing.

BECKY
Where the hell are you?

Resigned, she exits and turns toward her office building.

INT. OFFICE LOBBY - LATER

Denis exits an elevator into a plain-looking lobby shared by

two businesses. Denis turns left and opens a door that says
“Buy The Numbers” on it, then enters the-

MAIN OFFICE

-and walks toward the end of the bullpen into his-

OFFICE

-and sits behind his desk. Deep in thought.

DENIS
Who are you, Becky?
38.

He flips on his laptop and leans forward. Types away.

DENIS (CONT'D)
And where?

Leans in closer, looks at his watch.

EXT. APARTMENT BUILDING - DUSK

Becky exits a cab just down the street from Lexi’s place and
rushes toward the building.

INT. LEXI'S APARTMENT - LATER

A KNOCK at the door, as Lexi emerges from the back hallway,

decked out to the nines in a red and black satin suit.

LEXI
You forget your keys again, baby?

She opens the door to find Becky.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Oh hey...thought you were Jim.
Becky enters and takes off her coat, revealing a glistening
white gown.

LEXI (CONT'D)
And look at you...you’re like
something out of a fairy tale.

BECKY
Oh...thanks. You too. Where’s Jim?

LEXI
(shrugs)
Running late again, as usual. Get
you a drink?

BECKY
Absolutely. I need your help on
figuring out tonight.

As Lexi goes to the kitchen to fix a drink, she continues.

LEXI
Finding true love?
BECKY
This is all so weird.
39.

Lexi hands Becky a red-tinted drink while she pours a club

soda in her glass.

Becky takes a sip. Thinks.

BECKY (CONT'D)
What do you think ‘Open your eyes
means?’

LEXI
What do I look like, the Riddler?
I think you’re supposed to get back
in the game at the Gala.

BECKY
Yeah, right. I have a better chance
of winning Powerball tonight.

LEXI
I’m just glad to finally go out to
a party again. With other people!

BECKY
I’ll toast to that.

They clink glasses.

And at that, the door opens and JIM (late 20’s, shifty eyes,
thinks he’s all that) enters in a huff. You can tell he works
out under that baggy sweater and seems bothered to see Becky.

JIM
Sorry I’m late. I can get ready in
like ten minutes. Be right out.
(to Becky)
Uhh, hey Beck.

And he’s gone...down the hallway. A door SLAMS shut.

Becky looks at Lexi concerned. Is everything okay?

Lexi smirks, then shrugs.

LEXI
We can talk about it later. Now,
where were we?

She holds up her glass and they clink again.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky walks around with her red feathered cupid wings,
mingling with the crowd, delivering Mystery Heart notes.
40.

She delivers one and as the crowd thins, sees Denis across
the room. She rushes over.

As she reaches him, she pushes him abruptly, surprising him

and spilling his drink on him.

DENIS
What was that for?!

BECKY
For the scene in the bakery? Hello?

DENIS
What are you talking about?

BECKY
(confused)
My card! The red envelope?

Denis pulls a red envelope out from his jacket, as Becky

backs away like a gag reflex.

DENIS
I get this every morning.

BECKY
Me too. What does yours say.

Denis pulls a card out and opens it. Becky lurches away.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Don’t show me...say it out loud.

DENIS
It says ‘Find the Woman of Your
Dreams’.

BECKY
Mine says I’ll find true love.

DENIS
I remember. And you still don’t
think it’s me?

BECKY
Logically, it can’t be. Right?
We’re still here. But you have to
help me find my true love. That
must be why we’re both stuck in
here.
DENIS
But this dream I keep having...
41.

BECKY
Stop dreaming and help me.

Denis slips the card back in his pocket, flicks her feathered
wings, and smiles.

DENIS
Well, you’re Cupid. What’s the
plan?

Becky scans the room, and spies Raj across the way. Her eyes
perk up.

BECKY
I got it. See that tall guy across
the way. Long black hair.

DENIS
(points)
Edge of the dance floor, eleven
o’clock?

BECKY
Don’t point, it’s rude. That’s the
one. Go find out his number, and
buy a Mystery Note, then I can
deliver it and make an entrance.

DENIS
Make an entrance?

BECKY
Come on! We’re in this together.

DENIS
Sure, why not?

Denis leaves Becky and cross the dance floor toward Raj, and
then weaves around him slowly.

Becky watches him from across the room. Denis making eye
contact with Raj, walking closer to him.

BECKY
(whispers)
What are you doing? Get the number.

Denis approaches Raj. They shake hands. They start to talk.

Then they both turn toward Becky as Denis points.

Becky is mortified.

Raj chuckles and walks toward her.

42.

Becky watches him approach, blocking her view of Denis.

RAJ
Your friend over there said
something about an entrance?

BECKY
Is that so?

They both turn to look over toward Denis.

He’s gone.

RAJ
Hmm, well that is what he said.

BECKY
Yes, I’m sure it is.
(extends hand)
I’m Becky.

RAJ
(takes hand)
Raj. Would you like to dance?

BECKY
I’d love to.

Raj leads Becky out to the dance floor, the BEATS kicking a
lively groove as everyone moves and sways.

Becky smiles wide enjoying the moment as Raj does too, the
energy of the dance floor palpable and alive.

Cupid’s wings keep bumping into others trying to enjoy the

moment, and Becky winces every time she hits the person next
to her.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Sorry!

Raj laughs, then catches the eye of a TALL GENTLEMAN across

the dance floor. Smiles at him.

Becky tries to get Raj’s attention, turns and flaps her wings
to the beat, then back around again. Kind of a spaz.

The music shifts, fades, changes...into a slow dance.

Becky and Raj face one another, laughing and smiling.

RAJ
That was fun. I enjoy dancing in
public again, you know? Thank you.
43.

BECKY
Sure is. And yeah, thank you. I
should get back to being Cupid.
Enjoy your night.

RAJ
See you later.

Raj walks off as Becky looks around at the couples slow

dancing around her.

Dejected, she walks off the dance floor looking all around.

BECKY
Where’d he go?

Spots Stu chatting it up with someone near the bar, so she

pivots quickly...

BECKY (CONT'D)
Oh no.

...into a server with a tray full of rosé champagne.

The entire tray of full flutes fly toward Becky...

BECKY (CONT'D)
Oh no!

...but instead of champagne flying...

...it’s RED GLITTER...ALL OVER HER.

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

The Jackhammer ROARS outside her window.

She rolls over and pulls the pillow over her head. GRUNTS!

The NOISE continues.

She doesn’t move an inch.

EXT. DENIS'S APARTMENT - MORNING

Denis rushes out of the front entrance, a RED CARD in hand,

and heads down the street, a subway entrance in the distance.
He checks his watch quick and strides off.
44.

INT. BECKY’S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky exits the bathroom dressed, drying her hair with a

towel, finishing up her morning.

Enters the kitchen, puts a pod in the Keurig, jerking away

every time something OPENS, afraid of potential glitter
bombs. Art deco clock reads 8:35.

A LOUD THUD from outside the hallway gets her attention from
the kitchen, and she opens the front door to peek down the--

HALLWAY

--and looks toward the stairwell. Nothing.

Then down the other way.

An open door.

With two feet poking out.

BECKY
Mrs. Clements?

Concerned, she hurries down the hallway then stops.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Mrs. Clements!

INT. LOBBY - LATER

Two EMTs wheel a gurney out of the elevator. Joyce is

strapped in, seated upright, fed up.

JOYCE
I keep telling you I’m fine.

BECKY
Let’s just let them do their job.

JOYCE
I fell down, is all.

EMT
You were found in your apartment
passed out with the door open,
ma’am. This is just routine.
BECKY
What hospital are you taking her
to? I’ll be right behind you.
45.

EMT
Mount Sinai Emergency.

JOYCE
Dear, you don’t have to-

BECKY
Pssh. I’ll be right behind you.

The EMTs roll her outside as Becky looks on, concerned.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Denis paces back and forth, looking down at his watch.

Then to the pedestrian traffic. Both ways.

Back at his watch.

DENIS
Where is she?

INT. HOSPITAL - LATER

Becky navigates through the Emergency Room triage area until

she finds the right station: Joyce’s curtain.

BECKY
Knock knock...

She pokes her head around and Joyce waves her in.

JOYCE
Bless your heart. You didn’t need-

BECKY
Nonsense. How are you feeling?

JOYCE
I’m fine. I guess I was woozy. I
don’t remember what happened.

BECKY
Thank goodness you’re okay.

JOYCE
Only thing hurt is my pride.

A RESIDENT (26, red-eyed, tired) enters with a tablet and a

glass of orange juice. Nods to Becky as he talks to Joyce.
46.

RESIDENT
How are we feeling, Mrs. Clements?

JOYCE
Better, just tired of all this.

RESIDENT
Your vitals are good, but your
blood sugar is pretty low. Here,
drink this.

Hands Joyce the orange juice. She drinks it.

JOYCE
You mean I could have skipped all
this foolishness if I’d just had
breakfast this morning?

RESIDENT
Skipping breakfast is generally a
bad idea.
(to Becky)
Are you family?

BECKY
Just a neighbor. I found her and
wanted to see how I could help.

RESIDENT
Well, remind her to eat or drink
something in the morning.

JOYCE
I’m right here. And I won’t forget.

Another DOCTOR comes into the constrained area.

DOCTOR
Noob, you’re needed in Bay One.
Bike accident, hit by cab. Compound
fracture. Possible spinal damage.

RESIDENT
Be right there.
(to Joyce)
I’ll need you to stay for a few
more hours, make sure your sugar
levels remain steady. I’ll check in
on you later.

BECKY
(perks up)
Doctor, that bike accident. Did it
happen to be on 36th, do you know?
47.

DOCTOR
36th and 6th. How did you know? You
witness it?

BECKY
Just a guess.

RESIDENT
With a guess like that, you should
play Powerball.

The Doctor and Resident leave the cramped space.

BECKY
You stay put, I’ll be right back.

JOYCE
Where’m I going? But you don’t need
to stay with me, I’m--

BECKY
--Fine...I know. Humor me.

Becky pats her hand then steps outside into the-

EMERGENCY ROOM AISLEWAY

-and closes the curtain behind her. Pulls out her phone,
scrolls and pokes the screen.

BECKY
Hey Lex, need your help. Could you
tell me the company handling the
actors tonight?
(writes it down)
Thanks. Sorry, no...something came
up and I can’t stop over. I’ll fill
you in at the Gala. See you there.

She watches the action down at the end of the triage unit.
Eyes steeled as she mumbles.

BECKY (CONT'D)
36th and 6th.

EXT. HOTEL - LATER

Becky exits her cab and turns to enter. Stops in her tracks
as the décor outside floors her.
48.

Soft red spotlights instead of white ones illuminate the

front of the hotel. And now a banner that reads ‘In Any Event
Valentine’s Gala’ hangs above the door. It’s beautiful.

BECKY
Nice touch, Lex.

She smiles and heads inside.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky rushes in to the ballroom and is thunderstruck. Takes

it all in slow.

A deep red glow bathes the room as the DJ lays down slow
jams, the dance floor already grooving. Roses and carnations
adorn the centerpieces, decadent to the core. There are twice
as many people as last time, everyone enjoying themselves.

LEXI (O.S.)
You finally made it!

Lexi rushes up to Becky and grabs her arm, shocking Becky

back to Earth.

BECKY
Yeah, sorry I’m late..but, this..

LEXI
You like it?

BECKY
It’s...magical.

LEXI
Had to make some last minute
decisions and really hoped I didn’t
screw it up, I was so nervous-

BECKY
Oh my god, no...believe me, this is
so much better than my ideas. And
so many people! How’d you do that?

LEXI
Hustled the RSVP’s for the VIP’s.

BECKY
(impressed)
You’re a natural.
49.

LEXI
(flourishes)
Like my outfit?

BECKY
A woman in command. Very nice.

LEXI
You’re not too bad yourself.

Charles rushes forward and interrupts.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Thank God you’re here.

BECKY
Here we go...

Charles leans into them, starts to lead Becky away.

CHARLES
Excuse us.

Becky holds her ground.

Charles stops. Whispers in Becky’s ear.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
We have a problem.

BECKY
Lexi should hear this. She’s
running the Gala.

LEXI
(up to the task)
Is everything okay? Is something
wrong with the room?

CHARLES
No, of course not. All this...
(chefs kiss)
No, no...it’s Cupid.

LEXI
Cupid?

BECKY
He’s not dead.

CHARLES
You already know? He’s not dead?
50.

LEXI
Cupid’s dead?

BECKY
(to Lexi)
Not dead.
(to Charles)
Real banged up though. I saw him
earlier.

CHARLES
You saw him? Where?

BECKY
In the ER.

LEXI
You were in the ER with Cupid?

BECKY
And my neighbor.

CHARLES
Cupid is your neighbor?

LEXI
(concerned)
Oh no, is Joyce alright?

BECKY
Yeah, but I need to take care of
that tomorrow.

CHARLES
You need to take care of Cupid.

BECKY
Yeah, I’ll get that tomorrow too.

CHARLES
No, now! The fundraiser! Who’s
going to do the Mystery Hearts?

Lexi and Becky look at one another. Nod.

BECKY LEXI
We’ll do it. We’ll do it.
CHARLES
Perfect!

Charles walks toward the bar, as Lexi and Becky head to the
side table to get the Mystery Hearts going.
51.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky walks through the crowded ballroom holding several

Mystery Heart notes, craning her neck looking around.

She spies Lexi across the room, red Cupid wings matched
perfectly to her outfit, talking to Stu...

BECKY
Uh-oh...

...as Lexi introduces him to another WOMAN, beaming to meet

him. Stu warms.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Oh..nice.

Becky smiles as she looks down at the next Heart Note. Scans
the room, and finds her target.

It’s Raj. She taps his shoulder and he turns, surprised.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Hello...I’m Cupid!
(ruffles through notes)
And I have a note for you!
She pulls one out and hands it to him.

He blushes...so cute.

RAJ
Oh?

BECKY
(leans in, whispers)
He likes to dance, too.

Raj opens the note, looks over at a table where that handsome
GENTLEMAN watches, two glasses of rosé waiting.

RAJ
(smiles)
Well, thank you...Cupid.

BECKY
See you on the dance floor.

Becky watches Raj walk toward the gentleman with the

champagne, then over at Stu and his new friend chatting away.
Becky continues to watch the new lovebirds hit it off as she
pivots without looking and...
52.

...runs SMACK into Denis. Again. His drink spilling down his
shirt. Again.
BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS
Oh my God! I’m so sorry- Ooops, I beg your par-
Becky starts to wipe his shirt with a Heart Note...stops.
BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (CONT'D)
Wait a minute- I can’t believe-
She grabs his hand and rushes him to a side table.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Where have you been?

DENIS
Where have I been? The corner, the
bakery. What happened to you?

BECKY
It’s a long story. I mean last
night? After Raj? Where’d you go?

DENIS
I just remember that crazy dream
and waking up again.
BECKY
What are you even doing here?

DENIS
I was invited. You?

BECKY
I’m running the damn thing.

DENIS
Oh, in that case, nice party.
So...Raj? He like your entrance?

BECKY
Yeah, thanks for that. And no, not
particularly...given that we’re
both still here, wouldn’t you say?

DENIS
Guess you’re right. That’s too bad.
So, who’s up next?

She glances across the room and sees Lexi and Jim argue.

BECKY
Uh oh. Something’s going on with
Jim. I need to catch Lexi. Stay put
this time, yes?
53.

DENIS
It’s your party. You’re in control.

Becky walks toward their table when Jim gets up and leaves.
Then Lexi gets up and follows him toward the door.

Becky walks toward them and passes a table with a floral

centerpiece. Notices a RED ENVELOPE leaning against it.

She walks over and picks up the envelope. Flips it over. It

reads CUPID.

She taps the envelope with her fingers and looks back over to
the doorway. Lexi’s gone.

She heads back toward the table to find Denis, but slows down
as she approaches.

Looks to the left. To the right. He’s not there.

Table is empty.

Becky taps the envelope. Looks around. Defiant.

BECKY
Like I said, not today.

She tosses the envelope into the trash and storms toward the
dance floor.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Becky! There you are. Thank God.

BECKY
(turns)
Charles, can you hold on a sec-

CHARLES
We need to get the prizes started.

BECKY
You should go up--

CHARLES
Let’s both go.

BECKY
Charles, wait--

Charles grabs her hand and guides her through the dance floor
toward the-
54.

STAGE

-where Charles wrangles the microphone from the DJ’s hands

and the music fades off.

CHARLES
Thank you for coming out tonight!

The crowd claps while Becky looks out across the crowd trying
to spot Denis.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
And how about our Cupids?

Becky is oblivious to Charles’ activity on stage as he turns

the crowd’s attention to her, reaches into his jacket pocket,
and pulls out a fist.

Becky notices the entire crowd is now watching and WOO-ING

and clapping at her, and now she’s more confused than ever.

She turns toward Charles to see what he’s doing...

...as he opens his fist, mid-toss, RED GLITTER in air.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Becky’s eyes bulge and she reaches out toward the glitter,
attempting to stop the inevitable.

BECKY
Nooooooo--

SMASH CUT TO:

EXT. SCOTTISH GLEN - MORNING

Frost steams off the glade as two horses run toward one
another from opposite directions.

On one is Denis, full gallop until he pulls back the reins,

brings the horse to a full stop and jumps off in one fluid,
almost stunt-double motion, landing square, arms out...

As Becky approaches on the other, red hair and white gown

flowing in the wind, locked on Denis with steeled
determination, then jumps into his arms.

They embrace in a dramatic, romance novel cover-style hug.

DENIS
My darling, I cannot leave you.
55.

BECKY
Then don’t, my love.

They kiss. He swirls her into a dip, never breaking the kiss.
The melted mist wafting up from the ground beneath.

He brings her back up from the dip, stares into her eyes.

DENIS
I’ll never leave your side again.
(off her look)
They’re coming for you.

In the distance, an ARMY ON HORSEBACK in hot pursuit.

She opens her mouth to speak and the EXPLOSIVE sound of a

JACKHAMMER fills the air.

She opens it again. The JACKHAMMER roars.

Denis’s eyes widen. Confused.

INT. DENIS’S APARTMENT - MORNING

Denis wakes with a start. Sits up quick.

SPLIT SCREEN OF DENIS AND BECKY AT SAME TIME

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

The JACKHAMMER roars outside as Becky sits up.

DENIS BECKY
Jackhammer! Jackhammer!
He looks at his watch.

She grabs her phone.

DENIS (CONT'D) BECKY (CONT'D)

Sixty-two minutes. Gotta hurry.
He jumps out of bed and disappears into the bathroom.

She jumps out of bed and disappears into the bathroom.

END SPLIT SCREEN

56.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

Becky paces outside the front of the apartment. Looks down

the street toward the corner. Taps on the RED ENVELOPE.

Construction crew busy at work. JACKHAMMER roars again.

Becky JUMPS at the sudden noise.

Turns her attention back to the end of the street. Perks up.

Joyce rounds the corner holding her bag of groceries as Becky

smiles and intercepts.

BECKY
Good morning, Mrs. Clements! Let me
help you with that.

JOYCE
(smiles)
Oh thank you, dear, but I can
manage.

BECKY
I know you could throw down with
the worst of them and still come
out on top, but really...may I?

Becky gestures for the bag, eyes earnest.

Joyce smiles and relents.

JOYCE
That’s sweet.
(starts to walk)
Did I ever tell you about the time
when those two men at the bar went
to fists over me?

BECKY
No! Spill it!

Joyce continues her story as they walk toward the apartment.

EXT. SUBWAY TRAIN - LATER

Denis checks his watch, looks around.

Anxious.
57.

INT. JOYCE’S APARTMENT - LATER

Joyce opens the front door and enters, then lets Becky pass
with the groceries.

JOYCE
And that’s when I decked him!

BECKY
You didn’t!

JOYCE
Knocked him clean out.
(points)
Just set ‘em down in there, dear.

Becky puts the bag on the counter then looks over to Joyce.

BECKY
Mrs. Clements, do you-

JOYCE
Please, it’s Joyce-

BECKY
Joyce, would you mind if I grabbed
some orange juice? I was in such a
hurry this morning, I forgot-

JOYCE
Please, help yourself.

BECKY
Thanks so much.

Becky opens the refrigerator, grabs the OJ. Closes the door.
Gets TWO small glasses from the dishrack and pours.

BECKY (CONT'D)
So what happened when he woke up?

JOYCE
He proposed. Right then and there.

She walks out and hands Joyce one.

BECKY
He didn’t!

JOYCE
(tears up)
Woulda been sixty-two years today.

Becky raises her glass to Joyce’s. They clink glasses.

58.

JOYCE (CONT'D)
‘Love the love’. That’s what we
used to say to each other.

Becky smiles and squeezes her free hand. Raises her glass.

BECKY
Love the love, indeed.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Denis slows at the bakery entrance, glances inside.

Spies the table from earlier. Considers it for a moment.

Turns and keeps walking toward the corner. Checks his watch.

Lifts the RED CARD from his pocket. Puts it back again.

Now at the corner, he paces back and forth. Glances from his
watch to pedestrians approaching from the bakery.

Then back to his watch. Stops.

DENIS
She should have been here by now.

Looks around. Frowns.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - CONTINUOUS

Becky takes out her phone and pokes the surface.

BECKY
Lex...I have to take care of some
last minute things this morning so
I’ll be late coming in.
(beat)
No, everything’s fine. But could
you cover the ballroom details
today? You’re going to do great.
Follow your gut.
(beat)
Oh, and the cookies! You’re the
best. Ping you later.

Becky hangs up, then heads to the sidewalk to hail a cab.

59.

INT. BAKERY - LATER

Denis sits at one of the tables, coffee getting cold next to

the open red envelope.

Stares at the card. Closes it.

Taps it on the table.

LEXI (O.S.)
Picking up for In Any Event.

Denis looks over to see Lexi accept the bag of cookies and
swipe her credit card. His eyes narrow as he mumbles.

DENIS
Wait a minute...

LEXI
(waves to cashier)
Happy Valentine’s Day!

He puts the card back in the envelope, slugs the last of the
coffee, and hurries outside.

EXT. BAKERY - CONTINUOUS

Looks toward the corner and watches Lexi disappear around it.

He glances at his watch, then hurries toward her.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Denis catches up to Lexi.

DENIS
Excuse me...Miss?

Lexi stops, turns.

DENIS (CONT'D)
I’m sorry, did I overhear you say
that you work for In Any Event?

LEXI
That’s right. And you are?

DENIS
Friend of Becky’s.
60.

LEXI
(eyes raised)
Is that so? I would have remembered
her telling me about you. I’m Lexi.

DENIS
Denis. You know where I can find
her? Or get hold of her?

LEXI
You don’t have her number?

DENIS
(chuckles)
Well, no. We’ve just had coffee.
Some champagne. Drinks mostly.

LEXI
Tell you what, you give me yours,
I’ll pass it along. Sound good?

DENIS
Perfect, actually.

He taps on his phone, hands it out to her.

She takes her phone, taps his. BEEP BEEP. Contacts swapped.

LEXI
I’ll hook you up...if she says so.

DENIS
Appreciate it. See you later.

Denis turns to leave, then looks over his shoulder.

DENIS (CONT'D)
And the Gala looks great! Congrats!

He walks off as Lexi looks at him, confused.

LEXI
That’s not ‘til tonight!

EXT. STREET CORNER - MORNING

Becky paces back and forth at the corner of 36th and 6th, as
she talks into her phone and scans the traffic both ways.
61.

BECKY
I understand you can’t give me his
contact information directly, but
it’s urgent I talk to him right
now. It’s about the job tonight.
Can you call him while I hold?

She cranes her neck as traffic approaches the corner.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Yes, now! It’s a matter of life or
death. Severe fractures, anyway.
(beat)
Perfect, thank you...yes I’ll hold.

She pivots and scans the intersecting street traffic flow.

A CYCLIST approaches from down the street in bright orange

gear. He slows down and taps his earbud as he gets closer.

Becky watches intently, leaning in. A voice from the phone.

CYCLIST (O.S.)
This is Sergio.

BECKY
Are you on a bike right now?

CYCLIST
Who is this?

BECKY
Approaching 36th and 6th?

The cyclist looks up and all around him.

CYCLIST
Am I being punked?

Becky’s got him in her sights.

A cab in the distance swerves and races toward them both.

BECKY
LOOK LEFT!

Becky waves her hands in the air, gets his attention.

The cyclist slows down and glides across the lanes of traffic
toward Becky.
The cab SWERVES and BLARES its horn, just missing Sergio as
it races past him to catch the light and make the turn.
62.

Sergio flips off the cab and comes to a stop next to Becky.

Becky catches her breath on the near miss. Smiles and extends
her hand to him.

BECKY (CONT'D)
My name is Becky. I’m with In Any
Event. We hired you for tonight’s
gala. There’s been a change.

CYCLIST/SERGIO
I’m Sergio. What kind of change?

BECKY
I’ll explain tonight. Can you get
there early, around 7:30? I’ll pay
you double time for the night, if
that’s a problem.

CYCLIST/SERGIO
For double time? No problem!

BECKY
Just glad I caught you in time.

CYCLIST/SERGIO
How’d you know where I was?

BECKY
Just lucky, I guess.

CYCLIST/SERGIO
With luck like that you should play
Powerball or something.

BECKY
See you later.

He clips back into his pedals and speeds off.

Becky exhales and smiles. Changes direction and heads down

6th toward a nearby subway entrance.

INT. SUBWAY TRAIN - LATER

Becky stands on the crowded subway car, holding a cup of

coffee in one hand, gripping a post for balance in the other.

The street performer does magic in the car for tips, as

riders watch with interest.
The car jerks as it slows. She braces against the bar and
takes a sip from the cup as it stops.
63.

The street performer overacts and pulls a flower out of

someone’s ear nearby as the doors open.

People rush in and out of the car, and she scoots sideways to
let them pass, protecting the coffee. A taller man boards and
stands behind her.

The train pulls out of the station, lurches forward.

Becky lurches as the street performer SLAMS into her and

knocks her coffee hand toward the gentleman behind her...

...who turns around at the same time...it’s Denis...

...as Becky’s coffee spills right down the front of him...

DENIS BECKY
Ahh, hot hot hot...what- Ahh, no no no...what-
They stare at each other in disbelief.

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (CONT'D)

How are you here? What are you doing here?

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (CONT'D)

I was just- I was just-

DENIS (CONT'D) BECKY (CONT'D)

You first. You go.
Becky holds up her hand to pause the conversation.

Looks earnestly at Denis.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Where did you go?

DENIS
When?

BECKY
The Gala!

DENIS
I never left! I never leave, that’s
just it! You walk off, I stay put
and the next thing I know, it’s
crazytime in dreamland and BAM,
it’s today again.

The train slows as it approaches a stop, and they lurch

together as it comes to a halt.
64.

The street performer drops his deck of cards, then falls to

the ground to pick them up while the doors SLAM open.

People come and go again, stepping on cards, and as seats

open up, the two sit down next to one another in amazement.

BECKY
Okay let me get this straight, you
were at the table, never left...but
then you don’t remember anything
after that?

DENIS
Yup.

BECKY
Gala, bakery...same thing?

DENIS
That’s right.

BECKY
Let me think this through. I’m
supposed to find true love at the
Gala. But then we keep running into
each other. But then you keep
disappearing. But then we keep
repeating, so there must be a
reason. All of this is so weird.

DENIS
Tell me about it!

BECKY
Where are you headed now?

DENIS
I’ve been trying to find you!

BECKY
You have?

DENIS
I’m trapped in here with you. We
need to figure this out. Together.

BECKY
Compare notes.

DENIS
Exactly.

Becky’s phone CHIMES...she looks at it. Makes a face.

65.

DENIS (CONT'D)
What is it?

BECKY
(lifts phone)
Cupid. I saved his life just now.
(off Denis’s look)
I’ll tell you later. But I do need
to work on the Gala with Lexi.

DENIS
I just ran into her at the bakery.

BECKY
That explains my inbox blowing up.
She’s made some bold moves with the
gala décor...they turn out great.
But I need to amp up the
fundraiser, just don’t know how.

DENIS
Can we meet up before the Gala?
Swap contacts? Get your number?

BECKY
Of course!
She holds out her phone. Denis holds out his.

They tap their phones together. BEEP BEEP. Contacts swapped.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Hey, Lexi’s partner got a limo.
(triggers a thought)
Which reminds me, I need to look
into that. Something’s not right.

The train slows again as Becky looks toward the door.

BECKY (CONT'D)
This is me.

DENIS
Ping me as soon as you can.

Becky stands as Denis glances at his watch, then suddenly

takes her hand.

DENIS (CONT'D)
If something...happens. Like, if
you don’t see me later, meet me at
the bakery tomorrow at 8:30 sharp.

His eyes lock on hers. The train stops.

66.

BECKY
I’ll text you in an hour and then
I’ll see you right after.

She lets go of his hand and exits. Looks over her shoulder as
the doors close behind her.

Denis watches Becky through the windows as the train leaves

the station.

EXT. LEXI'S APARTMENT - TWILIGHT

Becky exits a cab across from Lexi’s place and braces her
coat around her white gown against the chill in the air.
Checks her phone.

Time reads 5:32. No response from Denis.

BECKY
Where is he?

She’s about to cross the street when Jim comes into view
outside the apartment building.

Becky steps back and hides against the shadow of the wall
next to a bodega with a glowing $918M Powerball jackpot sign.

She watches Jim walk down to the opposite corner...and into

the arms of ANOTHER WOMAN.

Becky covers her mouth as she watches him hug her hard, then
lift her up and spin her around. He puts her down and they
disappear around the corner.

BECKY (CONT'D)
You dog.

INT. LEXI'S APARTMENT - LATER

Rapid KNOCKS at the door, as Lexi comes into the room with a
robe on.

LEXI
You forget your keys again, baby?

She opens the door and Becky storms in.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Oh, hey! You’re way early...I’m not
even dress-
67.

BECKY
Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me that Jim
is here.

LEXI
Jim? No, not yet. He just texted
and told me he was running late and-

BECKY
That double-crossing...

LEXI
What’s wrong? What is it?

Becky takes Lexi’s hand, guides her to the nearby couch.

BECKY
I don’t know how to say this...

LEXI
Just say it!

BECKY
Jim’s cheating on you.

LEXI
What? You’re crazy-

BECKY
I just saw him! Downstairs! With
another woman, hugging and--

Lexi looks as though she’s been slapped. She rises slow.

LEXI
That’s not right...he just texted
me and said-

BECKY
I want to be wrong. But I just saw
him, and it’s better you find out-

LEXI
(lashes out)
I don’t know what you saw...but
just because today sucks for you
doesn’t mean you have to bring
everyone else down--

BECKY
Lex, that’s not true, I--

Lexi grabs her stomach, like she’s going to be sick.

68.

LEXI
I think you should go.

BECKY
Lex, wait. Let me help--

LEXI
(points to door)
I said, GO!

Becky sees the anger and sadness in Lexi’s face, knows the
damage has been done.

BECKY
I’m sorry.

Lexi storms over to the door and opens it.

Becky leaves and Lexi slams the door behind her.

INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Becky pauses outside Lexi’s door. Hears her cry inside.

Closes her eyes. Heartbroken.

She looks over to the elevator, eyes steeled.

Storms off.

EXT. LEXI'S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky exits the building and never breaks stride as she heads
toward the corner where Jim and the other woman were earlier.

Her coat blows open as she rounds the corner and as she grabs
for it, she runs SMACK INTO rude Business Guy, whose coffees
EXPLODE down the front of her beautiful white gown.

BECKY BUSINESS GUY

NOOO! HEY...WATCH IT!
Business Guy glares at Becky, shaking his soaked hands from
the hot coffee.

BUSINESS GUY (CONT'D)

Thanks a lot!

BECKY
You?? Look at me!!
69.

Business guy walks off, leaving Becky flabbergasted, looking

down on her new coffee-stained gown.

Pulls out her phone, looks at the time.

And no texts from Denis.

She steps to the curb and hails a cab.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Taxi!!

A cab pulls over and she reaches for the door and opens it
quick, and as she does and leans into it...BAM!!

GLITTER BOMB!!

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

The jackhammer BLASTS from outside as she sits up straight.

BECKY
Come on!
She lays back down and pulls the comforter over her head.

Her phone PINGS. She ignores it.

PINGS again.

PING. PING. PING.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Hold on!

Her hand reaches out from the covers and feels for the phone.

Takes it and disappears under the covers.

Becky sits up straight again. Eyes glued.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Denis?

INT. DENIS'S APARTMENT - SAME TIME

Denis sits up in bed.

DENIS
Finally!
70.

INTERCUT BETWEEN BECKY AND DENIS

Becky gets out of bed and grabs some clothes.

BECKY
What happened? I texted and texted.

DENIS
The last thing I remember is you
getting off the subway.

BECKY
The subway? But that was-

She looks at her phone. Pulls up her texts. Eyes wide.

BECKY (CONT'D)
My texts. They’re all gone.

She looks at the clock on the wall. Just after 7:30.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Meet me at the bakery at 8:30?

DENIS
See you there.
Becky throws on some leggings and a sweatshirt and heads out
the door into the-

HALLWAY

- and down to Joyce’s door. She knocks.

BECKY
Joyce? Are you there?

She waits...hears nothing.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Dammit.

She thinks for a moment...then rushes back down the hallway

and disappears into her apartment...

...and comes back out with a glass of orange juice, a banana,

and a notepad.

She places the juice and banana on the floor next to her
door, then scribbles a note and places it by the knob.
BECKY (CONT'D)
That should do it.
71.

Satisfied, she heads back into her apartment.

On the note, there’s an arrow pointing down with a heart:

ON NOTE

Don’t forget breakfast!

Love the Love!

Becky.

INT. BAKERY - LATER

Becky enters and scans the seating area for Denis. Sees him
at one of the tables with two steaming cups of coffee.

He turns and sees her and stands, knocking his leg against
the table, spilling coffee all over.

DENIS
Sorry about the mess.

He rushes over to the counter and grabs some paper towels to

clean it up.

Becky approaches slowly...deep in thought.

BECKY
Do you remember the other day-

DENIS
Every day is the other day.

BECKY
Not yesterday, but yesterday’s
yesterday.

DENIS
Which one?

BECKY
When I spilled coffee on your coat.
Down at the corner.

DENIS
And the subway.

BECKY
You said you don’t remember
anything after I left--
72.

DENIS
--just waking up the next morn--

BECKY DENIS (CONT'D)

The coffee! The coffee!
BECKY (CONT'D)
That must be it! We each have a
reset. Yours is getting spilled
on...sorry about that. Mine is a
very obnoxious glitter bomb.

DENIS
I recall you saying that. But why?

BECKY
(holds up envelope)
I have no idea but this thing here
is a time bomb. Like literally, a
glitter bomb WMD time machine and
the pin is loaded. Do not open or
point this thing at me.

DENIS
And you’re saying that sets us back
to this morning?
BECKY
Evidently.

DENIS
Have you tried not opening it?

BECKY
Seriously, Sherlock?

MONTAGE OF GLITTER BOMBS

- Subway magician opens a small black box. GLITTER BOMB!

- Becky opens up the cab door. GLITTER BOMB!

- Becky unzips the garment bag. GLITTER BOMB!

- Becky opens the kitchen drawer. GLITTER BOMB!

- Becky rips open an oatmeal packet. GLITTER BOMB!

END MONTAGE
73.

BECKY
All I know is when I open it, I get
clobbered. When I don’t open it, I
still get clobbered. We’ve got to
figure this thing out. You with me?

DENIS
Do I have a choice?

BECKY
I could throw this coffee on you.

DENIS
Yeah...no thanks. What do you have
in mind?

Becky looks over at the counter. Then gets up.

BECKY
Wanna cookie?

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky and Denis walk out of the elevator laughing as they

each eat their frosted cookie. Lisa signs for more flowers as
her desk fills up.

LISA
Good Morning, Miss Barnhart! Crazy
busy up here. I have-

BECKY
Have a cookie, Lisa.

Hands her a frosted heart-shaped cookie. Lisa takes it.

LISA
-oh...okay, thanks! Your messages!

Lisa hands her the stack...but Becky waves her off.

BECKY
You hold onto those for me.
(to Denis)
This way.

Lisa watches them walk off as Denis toasts his cookie to her.

DENIS
So you run all this? Do all the
event planning?
74.

BECKY
Well, Charles owns it, but Lexi and
I have grown it together. I don’t
think I’ve ever given her enough
credit. Or her due, honestly.

Lexi hears her name from down the way and turns to see Becky
and Denis approach.

Denis sees her and puts two and two together.

DENIS
Lexi! From the bakery!

Lexi stands, looks at them, confused.

LEXI
Hey Beck. Who’s your friend?

Happy to see her friend again after the disaster the night
before, Becky takes Lexi by surprise and hugs her hard.

LEXI (CONT'D)
Oh...hey you! Everything okay?

BECKY
Just want you to know I love you.
You can count on me for anything.

LEXI
(confused)
Umm, love you too?

Denis watches them hug and smiles. Then bites his cookie.

DENIS
That’s beautiful.

Lexi glances over at him...lets go of the hug.

LEXI
Sooo...who’s your friend?

BECKY
This is Denis. He and I have to
work out some last minute plans for
the Gala tonight. Can you run point
on the ballroom details for me?

LEXI
Yeah, no problem. Any suggestions?
BECKY
Follow your gut. You’ll do great.
75.

Charles approaches from behind.

CHARLES
Thank God you’re here-

Becky intercepts.

BECKY
Charles, everything is fine, all
the details are being worked on,
the fundraiser is going to be a
success and you really should take
a moment and enjoy a cookie.

Becky extends her hand and offers Charles a frosted cookie.

Charles looks at the cookie. Then at Becky. Then at Denis as

he takes another bite of his, smiles, and nods.

DENIS
It’s delicious.

Charles takes it from her. And bites into it.

BECKY
(to Denis)
C’mon. We have to hurry if we’re
going to save Cupid.

Both Denis and Charles look at Becky. Confused.

DENIS CHARLES
Save Cupid? Save Cupid?
BECKY
Call you later. You’re gunna do
great.

Becky heads out as Denis hands Lexi the bag of cookies.

DENIS
Good to see you again.

They leave Lexi and Charles behind, perplexed.

Charles takes another bite of his cookie. Turns to Lexi.

CHARLES
It really is delicious.

She digs into the bag.

LEXI
Give me that sugar.
76.

EXT. DOWNTOWN - LATER

Becky paces back and forth at a busy intersection, looking at

her phone, then down toward traffic.

Denis blows into his hands, checks his watch. Waits along.

BECKY
So what’s your deal anyway? You
keep looking at your watch. Got a
hot date?

DENIS
Just collecting data.

BECKY
Data?

DENIS
Well, if I need to know where to
find you, and more importantly when
to find you, it’s good to know the
time and place.

BECKY
That’s very scientific. You an
engineer or something? What do you
do when you’re not stuck in a loop?

DENIS
Just IT stuff. Most people think
it’s boring.

BECKY
Ohh, you’re one of those brooding
geeks. A humble genius?

DENIS
Yeah, sure. I run a data firm here.
Do coding work. Mostly I take
different sets of data and match
them up into similar sets of data.

BECKY
Like a Venn Diagram.

DENIS
(impressed)
Exactly! Well, mostly.

BECKY
What can I say? I know my memes.
77.

DENIS
It’s very impressive. Remind me
again why we’re here?

BECKY
(perks up)
Oh! Here he comes!

Becky springs to life as Sergio, the orange-clad cyclist

speeds toward them. As does that cab behind him.

She jumps out into the street and waves her arms around.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Sergio! Hey, Hey Sergio! Woo-hoo!

She waves and jumps, jumps and waves.

Sergio has his head down, legs pumping, head bobbing to the
beats. Gets closer and closer.

The cab bobs and weaves behind him as they race closer.

BECKY (CONT'D)
SERGIO!! HEY!!
Denis sticks his thumb and forefinger in his mouth, WHISTLES.

Becky covers her ears at the SHRIEK as Sergio’s head pops up.

He brakes to a halt right in front of Becky.

SERGIO
You crazy or something?

The cab weaves right beside them and runs the red light,
turning the corner just ahead.

Becky watches it disappear out of sight.

BECKY
Crazy? Maybe. See you tonight!

Satisfied, she steps aside and lets him pass.

Sergio glides up to the corner with the rest of the paused

traffic as Becky and Denis walk toward the subway.

DENIS
So you just saved Cupid?
BECKY
I need him for the fundraiser,
apparently.
78.

BECKY (CONT'D)
I just wish he could do more...that
I could do more. There’s a
promotion in it for me if I can
nail it.

DENIS
Why does it even matter if we’re
just going to reset anyway?

BECKY
I’ve thought about that. But I
don’t know...after the shit year we
all just went through and with so
many people struggling, that’s the
one thing I don’t want to give up
on, you know? Like, if I can help
these families out...help Charles
out...then maybe I’ve really done
something. Made a difference.

DENIS
And the promotion.

BECKY
For sure. Lexi does a killer job
with the décor and filling the
seats...way better than I did. In
fact, she should be running this
whole thing...maybe more. But I
don’t know, there must be a way to
amp up the fundraiser.

DENIS
Well, if you need a Venn Diagram.

She stops in her tracks, struck by brilliance. Turns to

Denis, beaming.

BECKY
THAT’S IT! Oh my god, it’s perfect!

DENIS
What?

BECKY
Where do you work?

DENIS
You won’t believe it.
79.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

They exit the subway just outside the bodega, the same one
Becky passes every morning. Then they turn the OPPOSITE way.

BECKY
How many times have I walked by you
over the years?

DENIS
Been wondering that myself the past
several days.

BECKY
I mean, we must have met at the
bakery for sure, right?

DENIS
Best bagels in the city.

BECKY
Exactly!

DENIS
(approaches door)
Here we go.

He opens the door and lets her in first.

INT. OFFICE LOBBY - LATER

They exit the elevator into a plain-looking lobby shared by

two businesses. Denis opens the door to ‘Buy The Numbers’.

DENIS
Come on in...I’m just down here.

Denis enters the-

MAIN OFFICE

-and walks toward the end of the bullpen toward his office.
Almost an exact duplicate of Becky’s layout.

BECKY
This is so weird. It’s practically
the same building. Same layout.
Same office. Same everything.

DENIS
Yeah but we still have the same
problem. So, what’s the plan?
80.

BECKY
If I got you the profiles of our
guest list, could you Venn Diagram
it out to find the best matches?

They stop outside his office.

DENIS
You mean like...be Cupid?

BECKY
Kind of. But without the wings.

DENIS
Got the data?

Becky taps her phone, opens a screen. Holds it out.

Denis smiles, taps his phone. Holds it out. BEEP BEEP.

DENIS (CONT'D)
I kind of liked the wings.

Becky chuckles.

DENIS (CONT'D)
Let’s give it a go.
(points)
There’s coffee in the kitchen.

BECKY
I’ll get it. You?

DENIS
Just black. Thanks.

Denis enters his office and powers up his computer.

Becky heads off toward the kitchen.

INT. KITCHEN - LATER

Becky waits as the second cup fills from the Keurig. It gasps
its last spitting drops of coffee into the cups.

She takes the second in hand and heads toward the door when-

- Denis rushes in and CRASHES into her. Coffee everywhere.

BECKY DENIS
Ahhh, hot- Hot hot hot-
They pull back from one another. Eyes wide.
81.

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (CONT'D)

Oh no- Oh no-
Becky grabs his hand and pulls him toward the sink. Picks up
a towel and starts patting his shirt down.

DENIS (CONT'D)
Leave it. It doesn’t matter.

BECKY
Don’t say that.

DENIS
It’s the reset.

BECKY
You’re still here...right now
anyway. For now, we stick together.

DENIS
I’m good with that.
(looks at shirt)
About that coffee...

Becky motions to the Keurig. Help yourself.

INT. DENIS'S OFFICE - LATER

Denis taps the keyboard in a fury as lines of code broadcast

on his monitor and the dual screen on the wall. Mellow R&B
beats flow from the Bluetooth speakers as he flows deep.

Becky looks up from her phone and watches him work. His kind
eyes intent on their target as his head sways to the musical
beat...a data musician composing his symphony.

She looks up at the code flying across the screen on one

side, graphics forming on the other. Awe and respect.

BECKY
Wow, you’re really good.

DENIS
Thanks. Feels good to be back at it
again full-time. This past year
really hurt.

BECKY
Tell me about it. We do event
planning!
DENIS
Oof. Bet you're swamped now.
82.

BECKY
It’s crazy, but I’m so thankful.
Charles saved our butts this past
year, which is why this Gala is so
important. And such a great way to
help others.

Denis points to the monitor, as a matrix of ten squares, two

by five, form on the graphics side. Checkmarks fill a few.

DENIS
Well, hopefully this helps. It’s a
simple program that matches up
guests based on their common likes
within the best probabilities. Once
they submit the form, the computer
pairs them up instantly. And more
people mean more probable matches.

The monitor shows rows of names exchanging position up and

down two vertical lists as different pairs match up.

BECKY
So much easier than the crazy
nonsense I was doing.

DENIS
They can even fill out the info
ahead of time via e-mail.

BECKY
We could reach ten times as many.

DENIS
I’d need to write some more code,
but yeah, just need the contact
info and you would be set.

BECKY
Better than Tinder!

DENIS
I sure as hell hope so...based on
my experience anyway.

BECKY
Oh yeah? Some bad luck there?

DENIS
Let’s just say that I trust my
program more than theirs. How about
you? Any luck in that department?
83.

BECKY
I don’t want to talk about it.

DENIS
That bad, huh? Tell me some horror
stories and I’ll tell you mine.

BECKY
(agitated)
When is this going to be finished?

DENIS
Look, you don’t want to talk about
it, that’s fine. But there’s no
need to get snarky about it.

BECKY
You just focus on your thing and
I’ll focus on mine.

DENIS
Like getting that promotion?
Finding your true love? Have you
thought that maybe none of this is
just about you?

Becky stands and paces. Words hitting a little too close.

BECKY
I know it’s not! I mean, look at
Joyce...at Cupid! I’m helping them!

DENIS
Yeah, but apparently to get to the
Gala to make it about you. You even
asked me to hook you up with Raj!

BECKY
(visibly upset)
But it’s the only way out of this!

DENIS
So you say. Maybe you should look
at all the data instead of only the
data that applies to yourself.

That does it. Becky faces Denis, looks down at her half cup
of cold coffee. Then looks back at him. Eyes enraged.

DENIS (CONT'D)
Don’t you dare--
Becky tosses the remains of her cup at him and hurries out of
his office, then heads down the-
84.

HALLWAY

- toward the front door. She reaches for it and pauses.

Shoots a look back towards Denis’s office.

BECKY
Dammit-

She heads back to his doorway...

BECKY (CONT'D)
Look, I’m sorry, it’s just--

The office is empty. Denis is gone.

EXT. DOWNTOWN - LATER

Becky passes the bodega in a huff and heads around the corner
toward the bakery.

As she passes the bakery entrance, a tall blonde-haired man

in glasses steps outside and Becky SLAMS into him. It’s CHAD.

CHAD
Becky Barnhart? Is that you?

BECKY
No, no, no...not today.

CHAD
It IS you. How have you been?

BECKY
Now’s not a good time--

CHAD
I’ve been good, in fact, I’d like
to introduce you to...

A tall blonde-haired WOMAN in glasses appears from behind

Chad, as they interlock hands. The rock on her finger
SPARKLES in the sunlight.

CHAD (CONT'D)
...my fiancé, Janice.

Becky looks at Chad, then at Janice. Then at the rock on her

finger. Then back at Janice. She’s had it.
BECKY
Better hock that rock while you can
before he leaves you, too.
85.

CHAD
Now, that was a long time ag--

BECKY
As for you...

She clenches her fist...really wants to pop him one. Instead,

she spies his open coffee cup and tips it back on him,
spilling it down the front of his expensive coat.

CHAD
HEY!

BECKY
Get out of my way.

Becky beelines past them and toward her office.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky stomps out of the elevator as Lisa greets her.

LISA
Afternoon Miss Barnhart! You
looking forward to the Gala?

Becky walks past, dejected and frustrated. Ignores her.

HALLWAY

Charles approaches as she walks toward her office.

CHARLES
Thank God you’re here. Have you
heard from Lexi at all? She went to
the ballroom but-

Becky’s had it...about to lose it.

BECKY
But what?!

CHARLES
But the fundrais-

BECKY
What does it matter? What does any
of this matter?!!

Colleagues look up from their desks as she raises her voice

and becomes more agitated.
86.

She walks over to a file cabinet and springs it open.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Glitter me!

Steps to the next cabinet and opens another.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Come on, Glitter me!

CHARLES
What are you doing? Are you okay?

Walks to Amy’s desk, pulls a folder off of it. Opens it.

BECKY
COME ON, GLITTER ME!! DO IT!!

She slams the folder down. Looks at Charles. At everyone.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Today, tomorrow, the day after.
What does it even matter?

She opens her office door, goes inside, closes it behind her.
Her colleagues looks at her closed door, then at Charles.

CHARLES
Okay then...see you tonight!

INT. BECKY'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

She slumps in her chair, looks at the ceiling, deep in

thought.

Turns, sees the stack of mail and messages piled on the desk.

She grabs the top envelope...opens it and skims.

BECKY
Don’t care.

Puts it down. Grabs the next. Opens it. Skims.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Whatever.

Puts it down. Grabs the next. Opens it.

BAM! GLITTER BOMB sprays all over her face.

SMASH CUT TO:

87.

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

JACKHAMMER ROARS outside the window.

Becky sits up quick.

BECKY
Yes!

Her phone RINGS. She jumps out of bed and to the closet as
she answers it. Pulls an outfit.

BECKY (CONT'D)
I’m sorry, Denis...so sorry.

Heads to the bathroom.

BECKY (CONT'D)
I’ll meet you at your office after
I save Cupid.

MONTAGE OF MORNING ROUTINE

- INT. HALLWAY. Becky puts down the juice and a wrapped

bagel, then leaves a note for Joyce by the door.
- INT. LOBBY. Becky stops at the mailbox and pulls out the
RED ENVELOPE. Thinks for a moment, smiles, then walks out.

- EXT. SUBWAY STATION. Pokes her phone. Puts it to ear.

BECKY
Just sent you all the files. Great,
see you in a little bit.

- EXT. DOWNTOWN. Becky checks her watch and cranes her neck.
Perks up as she sees the orange-clad cyclist approach. She
steps into the street.

Grabs his handlebars and steers him somewhat violently over

to the curb.

SERGIO
What the--

The cab swerves around them and the corner, as Becky pats his
shoulder and walks off.

BECKY
It’s about time. See you tonight!
Sergio stands in stunned silence looking all around him.
88.

- EXT. SUBWAY STATION. Becky emerges from the subway and

spies the $918 Million Powerball sign in the doorway. Smiles,
then disappears inside the bodega.

END MONTAGE

INT. BAKERY - LATER

Becky tucks several yellow tickets in her purse as she talks

into her phone.

BECKY
How’s the program coming?

INT. DENIS'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Denis types as he talks into the speaker phone.

DENIS
Getting there.

INTERCUT BETWEEN BECKY AND DENIS

BECKY
I’m downstairs, want a coffee?

Denis stops coding.

DENIS
You going to throw it on me?

Becky steps to the counter.

BECKY
Oooh...you’re right.
(to barista)
One black. Large.
(into phone)
In fact, that’s not a bad idea.

Becky pays and steps down the counter as she continues.

DENIS
Actually, throwing coffee on me is
a terrible idea.

BECKY
No, since I’m your reset, maybe we
should keep our distance until the
Gala to see if this works.
89.

DENIS
Well, that stinks.

BECKY
Why, you gunna miss me?

DENIS
I did like the company. Except for
that last part. I am saving a
fortune on dry-cleaning, though.

Barista hands Becky the coffee and the bag of cookies, and
she walks toward the door.

BECKY
I never said you’re getting rid of
me. We’ll just have to do it new
school is all. Zoom ya’ later.

CLICK.

She exits and turns right.

INT. BECKY'S OFFICE - LATER

Becky types away at her computer, as Denis’s face appears

hard at work on a second monitor.

BECKY
So she actually decked him. Can you
believe it?

DENIS (ON MONITOR)

Incredible.

BECKY
Knocked him clean out! He proposed
as soon as he came to.

DENIS (ON MONITOR)

That’s some first date.

BECKY
I’ll say.

Becky looks off wistfully. Denis notices.

DENIS
So about the other day...I’m sorry
if I pried. Or if I made light of
anything that happened to you.
90.

BECKY
No, that’s on me. It’s just...back
before everything locked
down...that Valentine’s Day, this
guy I was with, Chad...he broke off
our engagement. Out of the blue.

Denis stops, looks into the camera. Earnest.

DENIS
Wow, that must have really hurt.
I’m so sorry.

BECKY
Yeah, kind of sent me in a spiral.
But then we locked down, which was
just fine with me...well, except
for hanging on by a financial
thread...but at least I had my
books to keep me company.

She holds up one of her romance novels from the desk.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Felt safer with these guys, what
with their long flowing hair and
burning loins, you know?

DENIS
Yeah, well Chad’s clearly an idiot.

BECKY
You’re not wrong about that. In
fact, I bumped into him yesterday
and gave him a Denis Special.

DENIS
A what??

BECKY
Threw his coffee on him.

DENIS
Oh man! Sure hope he doesn’t get
stuck in here too.

BECKY
Oh shit, hadn’t considered that.

A KNOCK on the door as Lexi pokes her head in.

LEXI
You got a minute?
91.

Becky waves her in.

BECKY
Lex! Perfect timing. Meet Denis.

Lexi walks in slow, confused, then follows Becky’s glance to

the smiling face in the monitor.

LEXI
Hey, Denis.
(mouths to Becky)
He’s cute.

DENIS
Good to see you again.

LEXI
We’ve...met?

DENIS
Once or twice. Downstairs. In the
bakery.

LEXI
Oh, I’d remember that, believe me.

BECKY
He literally works next door. I’ve
bumped into him a few times and
he’s helping with the fundraiser.

LEXI
That’s great! We need it.

BECKY
(to Denis)
Is it ready?

DENIS
Sending...now.

Denis over exaggerates hitting the return button and Becky’s

e-mail CHIMES.

BECKY
(waves her over)
Lex, c’mere.

Lexi looks over Becky’s shoulder as she opens the attachment,

showing an ornate Valentine’s Gala graphic, as an animated
Cupid shoots arrows across the checklist. Two shapes meet and
overlap to create a Venn Diagram heart.
92.

BECKY (CONT'D)
If you could get Amy, Carlo, and
Brianne to send this announcement
out to all of their client lists,
we should be able to more than
double the fundraising results.
Maybe increase traffic tonight.

LEXI
Whoa...this is awesome.
(to Denis)
You did all this?

DENIS
Was all Becky’s Venn Diagram idea.

Becky rolls her eyes and blushes.

Lexi picks up on it. Smiles.

LEXI
You two make a good team. We’ll get
right on this.

Lexi turns to leave and Becky interrupts.

BECKY
Hey, Lex. Hold up.
(to Denis)
Thanks so much for this. I’ll ping
you later.

Denis waves goodbye and the monitor goes blank.

LEXI
He’s cute. And smart.

BECKY
Yeah, he is. Umm, about tonight.

Becky walks over to her.

LEXI
Ooh, Jim got a limo. You coming
over early to celebrate?

Takes Lexi’s hands into her own. Wants to tell her

everything. But pauses.

LEXI (CONT'D)
You okay? We gotta get going on
this new thing if we want it-
93.

BECKY
Yeah...I love you, Lex. I’ll always
have your back, you know that.

Lexi smiles at her. Gives her a hug.

LEXI
My sister from another mister.
Always have been. We’ve got some
celebrating to do tonight. Come by
at six and I’ll fill you in.

BECKY
Let’s go knock this fundraiser out
of the park.

They exit the office into the bullpen.

EXT. LEXI'S APARTMENT - LATER

Becky paces just outside the apartment door when Jim rushes
out of the lobby.

She steps in front, startling him.

JIM
Oh, hey! Becky...I thought you-

BECKY
I know where you’re going.

JIM
Wha...what? I’m just-

BECKY
(glances at corner)
Meeting your girlfriend. Like I
said, I know.

Gut punch. Jim’s eyes reveal all.

JIM
That’s crazy. I’m heading to the
bodega to get something for Lexi.
Go up and ask her yourself.

BECKY
(leans in close)
Oh, I am. Trust me.

JIM
It..it’s not what you think-
94.

BECKY
It’s exactly what I think.

JIM
Please, don’t tell Lexi. Not right
now. Let me do it.

Becky looks down, disgusted.

BECKY
It’s over. All of it. You don’t get
to have your cake and eat it too.

JIM
What are you going to tell her?

BECKY
None of your damn business.

Becky storms past Jim and disappears into the building.

Jim looks toward the corner where a WOMAN waves from afar.

Jim turns and heads back into the building.

His phone buzzes as he opens the lobby door.

Hits the decline button. Flips the phone to silent. Then

glances back toward the corner.

Disappears inside the apartment building.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky and Lexi walk into the room as Jim lags behind, tail
between his legs.

The room is beautiful as ever, mirrored walls emphasizing the

mood all around. And it’s PACKED! DJ is spinning beats and
the bars and dance floor are stacked. Even Cupid is dancing
up a storm.

LEXI
Oh my god, look at the crowd!

BECKY
Everything’s fantastic! Really
great work, Lex.

A familiar voice approaches through the crowd.

CHARLES (O.S.)
Thank God you’re here!
95.

Charles fights his way through the guests...all smiles.

BECKY
Charles! Happy Valentine’s Day!

CHARLES
You two...this is...just...

BECKY
Lex knocked it out of the park,
didn’t she?

CHARLES
TKO, dear. TKO! But the fundraiser-

BECKY
Is everything okay?

CHARLES
Okay? OKAY?? My dear...

Charles pulls out his phone and pulls up the app. Shows it to
them. Their eyes bulge.

CHARLES (CONT'D)
...already over our target and
we’re just getting started. That
promotion is all yours! Putting it
on this app was a game changer. How
did you do that last minute?

Becky is about to answer when she sees Denis across the room.

BECKY
(smiles)
A friend helped set it up. Would
you two excuse me? I need to say
hello to someone.

Becky walks toward Denis through the crowded room. She

sidesteps a couple, then another...noticing that it’s Stu and
the woman from previous iterations. The two of them laughing.

Denis sees her approach and grabs two glasses of rosé

champagne. Holds one out at full arm length.

DENIS
Got you this. Careful not to spill.

She takes it and chuckles. They clink glasses.

BECKY
No spilling.
96.

DENIS
I keep meaning to tell you...

BECKY
Yes?

DENIS
You look absolutely stunning.

Becky blushes and curtseys, princess style.

BECKY
Thank you. You clean up nice, too.

DENIS
Quite a crowd tonight.

BECKY
Thanks to you. Charles is over the
moon. He might even get lucky.

DENIS
If my program has anything to do
about it, it’s a sure thing. Maybe
you’ll get that promotion?

BECKY
Just did.

DENIS
Well, congrats. Looks like
everything worked out.

BECKY
(looks at Raj, Stu)
That program of yours definitely
worked out.

DENIS
Well, I do have mad skills.

BECKY
Are dance skills one of them?

DENIS
Now that is a totally different
situation all-together.

BECKY
Let’s find out.

Becky downs the rest of her champagne, takes Denis’s hand and
pulls him out to the dance floor.
97.

Becky turns to him and grooves out like a pro to the DJ beat
as Denis gawks at her in amazement.

DENIS
Oh no, no, no...you are next level.
I can’t compete with that.

BECKY
Let loose! Relax and find the flow!

Denis wriggles in place, desperately trying to find any flow

at all, out of his element but doesn’t mind one bit. He
closes his eyes as his arms and body lurch this way and that
like a slow-motion inflatable tube man at a car dealership.

It’s an embarrassment of riches, but he owns it.

DENIS
I think I found it!

Becky stops mid-step and watches him dance in his glory. The
cutest grin on her face, giggling. Whispers to herself.

BECKY
I think I did too.

The music transitions to a slow jam and a flood of relief

washes over Denis’s face.

DENIS
Now this is more my speed.
(hand extended)
May I?

Becky takes it. Comes in close.

BECKY
Thank you again for everything.

DENIS
Today was a good day.

BECKY
Yeah. I think we may be out of the
woods here. Mission accomplished.

DENIS
Oh yeah? How so?

BECKY
I mean, look around.

They scan the room, people dancing slow. Cheek to cheek. Some
clearly for the first time. Smiles at tables.
98.

BECKY (CONT'D)
So much love. Even Cupid.

Becky motions toward Sergio, decked out in his sexy Cupid

outfit, slow jamming with a lady friend.

DENIS
And you?

Becky smiles warmly at Denis.

BECKY
I found a friend. And that feels
like a good step forward.

DENIS
Yes it does.

Becky rests her head on his shoulder as they dance. Lost in

the moment.

As they turn, she sees Raj dancing with his gentleman friend.
So happy in love.

But then across the room, she watches Lexi and Jim in a
heated argument.
BECKY
(pulls back)
Uh oh.

DENIS
What is it?

BECKY
Jim’s being a dick. I need to help
Lex. Be right back, okay?

DENIS
Of course.

Becky turns to leave, then stops. Turns back to him.

BECKY
And for the record, I happen to
think you’ve got mad dance skills.

She chuckles and leaves the dance floor, weaving in and out
of the crowd.

As she struggles to get closer, she sees Lexi point at Jim,

heated. He gets up and leaves. She follows.
99.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Lexi! Hey Lex, wait up!

She’s about clear of the crowd when Cupid steps up from the
dance floor, turns her around, and reaches into a satchel.

SERGIO
Remember me?

BECKY
What-

And BAM...he tosses a handful of RED GLITTER into the air.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Noooo!

As glitter falls all around her in slow-motion, Becky watches

as Lexi leaves the room, then turns to meet Denis’s surprised
look. Oh shit.

Becky pushes through the crowd, shoulder to shoulder now,

unnaturally crowded, trying to reach Denis. Glitter falls
until...

SMASH CUT TO:

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

The jackhammer ROARS from outside and she jerks out from
under the covers.

BECKY
NOOO!

She punches the bed and kicks her feet. Pulls the covers over
her head and SCREAMS. Yup, it’s a tantrum.

Her phone BUZZES.

She sits back up and grabs the phone. Puts it on SPEAKER.

DENIS (O.S.)
So much for Mission Accomplished.

BECKY
It felt so perfect!

She gets out of bed, starts her routine all over again.
DENIS (O.S.)
So what now?
100.

BECKY
I say we do it again, all of it.
But this time I’ll work on Cupid.
Meanwhile, I’ll get you the data.

DENIS (O.S.)
Sounds good. Oh and hey, Becky?

BECKY
Yeah?

DENIS (O.S.)
If all this means we get to dance
again, that sounds alright to me.

BECKY
(chuckles)
Me too. See you later.

She hangs up as the jackhammer ROARS outside the window. She

rolls her eyes and disappears into the bathroom.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

Becky opens the mailbox and pulls out the RED ENVELOPE, then
tucks it in her purse.

Joyce approaches from outside and Becky opens the door.

BECKY
Let me get that...and let me help
you with those, Joyce.

JOYCE
Why thank you, dear. You don’t have
to do all that.

BECKY
No really, I was just heading back
upstairs to make some breakfast.
Care to join me?

Becky takes the groceries from her as the jackhammer ROARS

again behind them. Joyce jumps at it.

JOYCE
That blasted thing. The noise
drives me crazy.

BECKY
You’re telling me. Quick bite?
101.

JOYCE
I don’t want you to go to any
trouble-

BECKY
I can’t think of anything else I’d
rather be doing.

JOYCE
That’s so sweet...thank you.

They disappear into the stairwell.

EXT. SUBWAY STATION - LATER

Becky emerges as she talks on the phone, beaming.

BECKY
Yeah, Cupid’s taken care of and I’m
heading up to the office. You have
what you need from me?
(beat)
Great, Zoom you in a bit.

She puts her phone away and heads into the bodega, smiling.

INT. BECKY'S OFFICE - LATER

Becky writes onto small WHITE ENVELOPES while Denis appears

over her shoulder on the monitor via Zoom, both hard at work.

BECKY
Tonight is going to be perfect.

DENIS
What else you got up your sleeve?

BECKY
Not telling. But save me a dance?

DENIS
I don’t know, my dance card is
filling up pretty quick.

BECKY
I bet it is.

A KNOCK on the door. Lexi pokes her head in.

LEXI
Hey, you have a minute?
102.

BECKY
Oh good, you’re back. Say hi to
Denis.

Lexi comes in and sees Denis on the monitor.

LEXI
Hi...Denis?

DENIS
Good to meet you.
(to Becky)
I’ll send the file when done. See
you there.

BECKY
Sounds good. See ya.

The monitor Denis was on goes black as Becky walks around to

the front of the desk. She sits in one of the two seats and
motions for Lexi to join her.

LEXI
(sits)
He’s cute. Who is he?

BECKY
Denis. He works next door. I’ve
bumped into him a few times here
and there. He’s sweet.

LEXI
Ohhh, holding out on me? Shame on
you. He coming to the Gala tonight?

BECKY
He’ll be there. And he’s helping
with an idea that’s going to really
jack up the fundraiser. It’s so
cool. I can’t wait to show you.

LEXI
Awesome! You should have told me
sooner. I could have helped.

BECKY
Came up last minute. But look, I
need to talk to you about something
and I don’t know how to do it.

LEXI
What’s up?

Becky takes Lexi’s hands into hers.

103.

BECKY
No matter what happens, I got you.
You know that, right?

LEXI
You’re starting to scare me.

BECKY
How are you and Jim?

LEXI
Jim? We’re fine. I mean, he can be
a real asshat sometimes, but...

BECKY
He acting weird lately?

LEXI
Work is picking up after all that
craziness last year. Lots of late
hours. What’s this about?

BECKY
I think he’s stepping out on you.

Lexi starts to pull her hand away. Becky grabs it.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Listen to me. I saw it.

LEXI
What...when?

BECKY
The other night...I saw him with
someone else. I’m so sorry, Lex.

Tears well up in Lexi’s eyes as Becky pulls her in to hug

her. On her embrace, Lexi lets loose. Sobs.

Becky’s got her. Holds her close.

Lexi collects herself as Becky hands her some tissue.

LEXI
I’m so stupid...

BECKY
No, stop that! None of that. This
is on him.
Lexi grabs her belly. Looks down. Rubs it.
104.

Becky sees her hands. Her belly. Then her look. Leans
forward, grabbing her hands again.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Wait a minute. You’re...?

Lexi nods. Tears stopped.

LEXI
Was planning to tell you tonight.

Becky grabs her in her arms and holds her tight.

BECKY
I’ve got you. Forever and always.

Now both of them are crying.

Lexi pulls back. Harnessing her strength and power.

LEXI
Chad, Jim. To hell with these weak
ass men. We got this.

BECKY
Hell yeah, we do. I’m going to be
an aunt!

Lexi grins with her excitement. Feeding her soul.

LEXI
Hmm, Aunt Becky? Careful, girl.

They laugh and hug each other some more. Sisters. Always.

INT. HOTEL BALLROOM - LATER

Becky and Lexi walk into the crowded room and stop to admire
the success of the night. Jim is nowhere in sight.

BECKY
Look at all this. You did this.

LEXI
WE sure as hell did.

BECKY
Love the love.

They hug.
And then Charles appears through the crowd. And before he can
say anything, Becky interrupts.
105.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Charles! Thank God you’re here!

The three of them laugh together as Charles applauds them.

CHARLES
This has exceeded all my wildest
expectations. Thank you both. For
everything. It’s...unbelievable.

BECKY
It’s all Lexi. She should get a
promotion, don’t you think?

LEXI
Wait, what? Really?

Charles eyes light up, and he nods.

CHARLES
Absolutely. Well done, Lexi. Well
deserved.

BECKY
And thank you, Charles, for helping
us through the hardest of times
last year. This is all for you.

Charles is near tears, as he takes their hands and squeezes.

BECKY (CONT'D)
But, if you’ll excuse me, I need to
say hello to a friend.
(to Lexi)
You okay?

Lexi looks across the room and sees Denis.

LEXI
Oh you go, girl.

Becky walks toward Denis, standing next to one of the

mirrored walls with two glasses of champagne.

Denis hands her one of the glasses. She takes it.

They clink glasses. Very carefully. Again.

DENIS BECKY
No spilling. No spilling.
They look out at the enormous crowd of folks, everyone
mingling and dancing, together in fun and love and joy.
106.

Stu and his date. Raj and his partner. Lexi and Charles
busting a groove on the dance floor. Everyone. Together.

Denis reaches into his pocket and pulls out a RED ENVELOPE.

DENIS (CONT'D)
Every morning, I find this in my
mailbox.

Becky reaches inside her purse, pulls out her own RED
ENVELOPE, next to several small WHITE ENVELOPES.

BECKY
I know, me too.

DENIS
Every day I open it and it says
“Find the Girl of Your Dreams”.

Becky chuckles. Blushes a little.

DENIS (CONT'D)
But the thing is, this dream is so
weird. I’ve never had one like it
before. And I keep having it night
after night.
BECKY
Wait until you hear mine...

DENIS BECKY (CONT'D)

I’m in Scotland on a horse- It’s Scotland, and I’m on a
horse-
Their eyes go wide.

BECKY (CONT'D)
And I jump off-

DENIS
And I catch you-

BECKY DENIS (CONT'D)

And we kiss. And we kiss.
They look at one another in stunned amazement, drawn closer
to each other. And then Becky chuckles.

BECKY (CONT'D)
And then you open your mouth and
it’s that damn jackhammer again.
107.

DENIS
I recognized you from my dreams the
day you slammed into me at 8:32 and
spilled coffee down my coat. I’ve
been trying to find the girl of my
dreams ever since.

BECKY
Is that so?

DENIS
And your card...what was it again?

Becky pulls out her RED ENVELOPE.

DENIS (CONT'D)
Your true love?

BECKY
Is right in front of me.

She looks at Denis...but then PAST him and sees herself in

the reflection of the mirror.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Just...open...my eyes.
She walks past him, toward the mirror, puts her hand on it.
Hand on hand meeting in the mirror. She sees herself clearly.

BECKY (CONT'D)
(whispers)
True love. Myself.

She makes a half-heart shape with her thumb and forefinger on

the mirror. The reflection shows the complete heart, with the
love and joy happening all around behind her. And Denis.

And the open card in her hand, reflected in the mirror. Reads
the card for herself, glitter free.

DENIS
Is everything alright?

Becky responds, never breaking her glance from the mirror.

BECKY
Everything is perfect.

She faces Denis and lifts her glass. They clink.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Do I still get that dance?
108.

DENIS
Let’s do it.

They walk hand in hand out to the dance floor and Denis finds
the flow once again. Well, he tries anyway.

As Becky bumps and grinds next to Lexi and Charles on the

crowded dance floor, she fishes out one of the WHITE
ENVELOPES from her purse, and carefully sneaks it into Lexi’s
jacket pocket while doing the bump. Totally unnoticed.

Becky smiles and laughs as she does. The party rages on.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

A cab pulls up to the curb and Becky and Denis step out.
Denis turns to the driver.

DENIS
Keep it running?
(to Becky)
So this is Chez Barnhart, trés
magnifiqué.

BECKY
A charmer in many languages. My mom
warned me about men like you.

They pause a minute, chuckling and smiling. Nervous.

DENIS
So, I’ll call you tomorrow.

BECKY
Or today.

DENIS
Or today.

A quick kiss.

BECKY
Goodnight.

DENIS
Bon nuit.

Becky rolls her eyes and walks toward the lobby door, then
looks back over her shoulder. Smiles and waves.

Denis hasn’t moved an inch, watches her walk inside.

She disappears inside the building.

109.

INT. HALLWAY - LATER

Becky passes her apartment door and heads two doors down to
Joyce’s doorway, then reaches into her purse.

Slips a WHITE ENVELOPE under her door, and smiles.

BECKY
Love the love.

Heads back to her apartment and disappears inside.

CUT TO:

INT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

The obnoxious JACKHAMMER again.

Becky opens her eyes under the covers, content with the
verdict of the day, and rolls out of bed.

Walks past the mess on her floor from the night before,
kicking her shoe as she does, wiping the sleep from her eyes.

The jackhammer ROARS again outside as she absently waves to

it and disappears inside the bathroom.

A moment passes as we stay at the bathroom door. The

JACKHAMMER still at it outside.

Becky RUNS back into the room, eyes wide.

Looks at her dress and shoes strewn on the floor.

BECKY
Oh my god!

Runs to the doorway, looks at the disaster in the kitchen.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Oh my god!

Her phone RINGS. She rushes over to it and hits SPEAKER.

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (ON SPEAKER)

Oh my god! Oh my god!

BECKY (CONT'D) DENIS (ON SPEAKER) (CONT'D)

Meet me at work! Meet me at work!
CLICK.
110.

She grabs the first thing she sees from her closet and rushes
back inside the bathroom.

INT. LOBBY - LATER

Becky runs out of the stairwell and stops at the mailbox.

Opens it.

EMPTY.

BECKY
THANK GOD!

She slams it closed and runs out the door.

EXT. BECKY'S APARTMENT - LATER

Joyce exits the lobby to take in the brand NEW day. Pauses
and breathes in the air.

Jackhammer BLASTS the quiet and Joyce doesn’t even jump.

Turns to them.

BECKY
What a GREAT day!

Becky rushes toward the corner and sees Joyce up ahead,

heading out for her morning groceries. She hurries to catch
up, and barely slows down as she passes.

BECKY (CONT'D)
Good morning, Joyce! Have a
beautiful day! Remember to eat
breakfast!

JOYCE
Good morning, dear! Do you know
anything-

Joyce fishes something out of her pocketbook but by the time

she looks back up, Becky is already past her and rushing
toward the subway entrance.

JOYCE (CONT'D)
-about this?

She holds up an opened white envelope, with the words ‘Love

the Love’ on it.
111.

EXT. SUBWAY STATION - LATER

Becky emerges from the subway entrance just outside the

bodega, where a commotion is brewing. She looks over at it
and grins as she turns toward Denis’s office.

We stay at the bodega, where the OWNER is jumping up and down

while customers clap and applaud.

BODEGA OWNER
They were bought here! All of them!

INT. OFFICE LOBBY - LATER

Becky emerges from the elevator and rushes inside ‘Buy The
Numbers’ and into the-

MAIN OFFICE

- where she rushes down the hallway to Denis’s office.

He’s not there.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Denis rushes out of the elevator.

LISA
Welcome to In Any Event. May I help
you with something?

DENIS
Becky. Becky Barnhart?

LISA
I’m sorry, she hasn’t arrived yet
this morning. Would you like to
leave a message?

Exasperated, he looks toward the entrance, then to Lisa.

DENIS
No...I’ll wait.

INT. DENIS'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Becky paces back and forth outside his office. An ASSISTANT

comes forward.
112.

ASSISTANT
I’m sure he’ll be here soon. May I
get you a coffee?

BECKY
Coffee!

She pulls out her phone. Pokes at it.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Denis paces in the lobby as his phone rings. Sees the number.

DENIS
Where are you?!

BECKY
I’m at your work. Where are you?

DENIS
I’m at your work!

BECKY DENIS (CONT'D)

Be right there! Be right there!
Denis hangs up and mashes the elevator button. And again.

As he waits, Lisa clicks away at her computer.

LISA
Wow, three people won Powerball
last night. All right here in New
York City. How cool is that?

The elevator door PINGS open and Denis rushes inside.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - LATER

Becky rushes down the busy sidewalk, bobbing and weaving

pedestrians, eyes intent on her destination.

INT. OFFICE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Denis rushes out of the elevator, barely missing two people

trying to get on, and runs toward the building entrance.

EXT. OFFICE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Becky passes the bakery in a sprint, accidentally spilling

the coffee of RUDE BUSINESS GUY all over him.
113.

BUSINESS GUY
Come on! Look where you’re going!

She presses on and as she rounds the corner...

And as Denis rounds the corner...

They run SMACK INTO each other...again.

DENIS BECKY
Oh no, I’m- I’m sorryyyy-
Becky loses her balance and falls backward, but Denis lurches
forward and catches her in his arms...just like the dream.

Becky looks up at him and smiles. Denis smiles back. Opens

his mouth to say something.

And the obnoxious ROAR of a JACKHAMMER comes out.

They turn their gaze toward the street. And there’s a damn
street crew fixing potholes. Again.

Denis pulls Becky up.

DENIS (CONT'D)
That really is annoying.

BECKY
You have no idea.

DENIS
Coffee?

BECKY
Would love to.

They walk down the busy street, laughing and chatting. Happy.

The NOISE persists as Becky looks over her shoulder toward

the road repair crew.

She notices Jackhammer Guy busy at work, bulging biceps

vibrating as he works the machine. A tattoo on his biceps.

It’s CUPID.

Jackhammer Guy looks up and WINKS.

FADE TO BLACK.
114.
