DAILY LESSON LOG OF M7NS-Ih-1 (Week Eight-Day One)

School Grade Level Grade 7

Teacher Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Date and Time Quarter First
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives,
necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities
may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative
I. OBJECTIVES Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable
children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the
curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sets and the real
number system.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate challenging situations involving sets and real
numbers and solve these in a variety of strategies.
Learning Competency: Illustrates the different subsets of real numbers. (M7NS-Ih-
1)
C. Learning Competencies/ Learning Objectives:
Objectives 1. Identify the subsets of real numbers
2. Represent and compare the different subsets of real number
3. Demonstrate cooperation in doing group activities
II.CONTENT Subsets of Real Numbers
III.
LEARNING RESOURCES teacher’s guide, learner’s module,
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages 101-108
2. Learner’s Materials Pages 76-82
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR)
portal
B. Other Learning Resources
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that
pupils/students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students
which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing
IV. PROCEDURES pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning, question their learning
processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous
knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
The teacher lets the students get their LM’s and asks them to open to page 76.

In 5 minutes, do ACTIVITY 1: Try to reflect on these . . .

Sharing Ideas! What do you think?
1. In what ways do you think did primitive man need to use numbers?
A. Review previous lesson 2. Why do you think he needed names or words to tell “how many”?
or presenting the new 3. Was man forced to invent symbols to represent his number ideas?
lesson 4. Is necessity the root cause that led man to invent numbers, words and symbols?

NOTE TO THE TEACHER:

You need to facilitate the sharing of ideas leading to the discussion of possible
answers to the questions. Encourage students to converse, to contribute and to
argue if necessary for better interactions.
The teacher lets the students intensify the study of mathematics since this requires
B. Establishing a purpose for a good understanding of the sets of numbers for easier communication. Classifying
the lesson numbers is very helpful as it allows us to categorize what kind of numbers we are
dealing with every day.
The teacher lets the students get their LM’s and asks them to open to page 77.

In 5 minutes, do ACTIVITY 2: Look Around

C. Presenting examples/
instances of the new Answer Key:
lesson 1. Numbers, Fractions...
2. Numbers...
They are used to count things.
3. Irrational, ...
The teacher discusses with the students the process of arriving at the answers of
each exercise in activity 2. Furthermore, he/ she introduces the important
D. Discussing new concepts
terminologies to the students. He/ she tells them that these terminologies complete
and practicing new skills
the set of real number system.
#1

The teacher discusses and illustrates thoroughly the different subsets of real
number system. Refer to Activity 3 found on page 78 of the Learner’s Material.

E. Discussing new concepts Answer Key

and practicing new skills 1. Counting Numbers/ Natural Numbers/ Positive Integers
#2 2. Zero
3. Negative Integers
4. Fraction/Decimals
5. Irrational Numbers
Working in groups of 5, the teacher lets the students do activity make a schematic
diagram on the set of real numbers. The teacher sees to it that the students
understand what a schematic diagram is. The teacher will present a schematic
diagram to the students.

F. Developing mastery
(leads to formative
assessment 3)

G. Finding practical
applications of concepts
and skills in daily living
H. Making generalizations The teacher summarizes the mathematical concepts used to recognize the set of
real numbers through questions like:
1. What are the subsets of real numbers?
2. What do you call the subset of real numbers that includes negative, zero and
positive values?
3. What do you call the subset of real numbers that includes fractions and decimals?
and abstractions about
the lesson
Answer Key:
1. rational, irrational, fractions, integers, negative integers, whole numbers, zero,
positive integers
2. Integers
3. Rational numbers
