WEATHER
Actually, two
closely related
terms are
described in this CLIMATE
regard: the
WEATHER

It refers to the “outside conditions of the

atmosphere.” Is it rainy, cold, hot, humid, or dry?

Is the condition of the atmosphere over a short

period of time.
Climate is the general
weather over a long period.
This can include rainfall,
temperature, snow or any CLIMATE
other weather condition.
We usually define a
region’s climate over a period
of 30 years.
Climate is the long-term pattern of
weather in a particular area. Weather can
change from hour-to-hour, day-to-day, month-
to-month or even year-to-year.
A region's weather patterns, usually
tracked for at least 30 years, are considered its
climate.

Our environment is composed of
land, water, and air. Air is found in
the atmosphere. The ever-changing
conditions of the atmosphere
explain the importance of weather
and climate in our lives.

We divide climate zones
by their latitude on the
planet:

1. T R OP I CA L
C L I M A T E S are close to
the equator and have high
temperatures and rainfall.

3. TEMP ERATE
C L I M A T E S are north
and south of the dry zone,
although they often overlap
in latitude with continental
climates in North America
and Asia. These continental
climates are less influenced
by oceans and may have
wider climate extremes.

2. Height above the
sea level.
3. Ocean currents.

Earth’s atmosphere is made up of several
gases, small amounts of water vapor, ozone,
dust, which play key roles in the production of
weather and climate. Most changes in
weather happen in the lowest part of earth’s
atmosphere, the troposphere.
You are now ready to learn more on
weather and climate.

Basically, weather describes the condition

in the atmosphere any time of the day.
Today maybe warm and sunny, tomorrow
maybe cool and rainy. Where as, the
weather over a long period of time in a
specific area is known climate.
