SUMMATIVE TEST

SET A

In your own understanding based on what you have research.

1. Define what is a series circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or use your own
“tagalog words”

Series circuits are sometimes referred to as current-coupled or daisy chain-coupled. The electric
current in a series circuit goes through every component in the circuit. Therefore, all of the
components in a series connection carry the same current. A series circuit has only one path in
which its current can flow.

2. What is the advantage of a series circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or use
your own “tagalog words”

The biggest advantage of a series circuit is that you can add additional power devices, usually
using batteries. This will greatly increase the overall force of your output by giving you more
power.

3. What is a disadvantages of series circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or use
your own “tagalog words”

The first disadvantage is that, if one component in a series circuit fails, then all the components
in the circuit fail because the circuit has been broken.

4. Can you give at least ONE example of a series circuit that we are using at the present time?
Example in the house, restaurants, church, recreational places like Enchanted Kingdom are
they using series circuitry?

Series circuit is sometime used in light bulbs at home or in the restaurants to it will be easy to
open and close every lights.

5. DRAW the “Pictorial Diagram of Series circuit using 3 bulbs, one switch, and battery AS
POWER SOURCE”
6. DRAW the Schematic Diagram using R1 (RESISTANCE ONE); R2; R3.

7. DRAW the ACTUAL DIAGRAMS OF A SERIES CIRCUIT (CKT).

8. What will happen when we take off one bulb in a series circuit while, all of them are in a
proper operation?

The other bulbs won’t work because the electricity will not flow.

9-10 BONUS

SET B

In your own understanding based on what you have research.

1. Define what is a PARALLEL circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or use your own
“tagalog words”

A parallel circuit comprises branches so that the current divides and only part of it flows through
any branch. The voltage, or potential difference, across each branch of a parallel circuit is the
same, but the currents may vary.

2. What is the advantage of a PARALLEL circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or
use your own “tagalog words”
One of the advantages of parallel circuits is that they ensure all components in the circuit have
the same voltage as the source. For instance, all bulbs in a string of lights have the same
brightness.

3. What is a disadvantages of PARALLEL circuit? NOTE: You can copy paste your answer or
use your own “tagalog words”

The major disadvantage of parallel circuits as compared to series circuits is that the power
remains at the same voltage as the voltage of a single power source. Other disadvantages
include the split of an energy source across the entire circuit, and lower resistance.

4. Can you give at least ONE example of a PARALLEL circuit that we are using at the present
time? Example in the house, restaurants, church, recreational places like Enchanted Kingdom
are they using series circuitry?

The electric outlets in a house are all parallel. This means that with ideal electrical circuits,
turning on a television set usually has no effect on electric lights in the same room.

5. DRAW the “Pictorial Diagram of PARALLEL circuit using 3 bulbs, one switch, and battery AS
POWER SOURCE”

6. DRAW the Schematic Diagram of a PARALLEL using R1 (RESISTANCE ONE); R2; R3.
7. DRAW the ACTUAL DIAGRAMS OF A PARALLEL CIRCUIT (CKT).
8. What will happen when we take off one bulb in a PARALLEL circuit while, all of them are in a
proper operation?

Nothing will happen because there are separate branches that electricity can flow through the
bulbs and makes it work.

Answers:
It = 2A I2 = 2A R2 = 5 Ohms V1 = 6V
Rt = 25 Ohms I4 = 2A R3 = 3 Ohms V4 = 12V
